Did City of Heroes save your life?

I came across this site today and immediately thought of all the stories I've read over the years of people whose lives were impacted by the game. Go ahead and submit an entry, won't you? Thank you.

Responding to the title of this post: No.

Nope. It gave me a life, a home, and a family, though.

I am Lord Omi. Now and forever. They can take our City, but they can't take me.

Anyways no where in any post does it says that my life depended on a game.

You seem to be the one that wont know what to do with yourself when this game ends. Well then again, I guess you wont have nothing to do since you wasnt doing anything in the first place.

I see you cant even stay on subject in another person's post but get on my case when I do it. SMH. Unlike you, I'm not going to go cry myself to sleep when this game goes under and slit my wrists in morning. Dont forget to mention me in your suicide note and someone blame me for taking your toy away and only escape from reality that you been running away from.

Well since it's ok for you I guess it's ok for me too.

Statesman once saved my life. But then he dropped a Rikti dropship on my house immediately afterwards.

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

In short: Yes.

I met a few people from Champion who live in my area. For a few years now we've been hanging out every sunday. We play MTG, do some console games, and occassionally end up in the same mmo.

Did it save my life? no. And while I highly value the friendships I made in this game, my life as a whole would have probably been alot better off if I never got into MMOs.

Here's a story for ya:

At some point in basic training for the Army I ended up having to carry 2 M16s, 2 ruck sacks and 2 duffle bags because one my my platoon mates wussed out and went to the medics. There I was, trompin along and growling when my squad mate looks up with bright eyes of realization and screams, "LOAD BEARING TROLL!!!"

That's all it took, of course, so for the next 2+ years I was Troll. When I got to college, my dorm buddies and I were all getting hammered and handing out nicknames. When my turn came up, I told them not to bother. "I've been Troll for two years, let's keep it going." It stuck.

They're much more prolific these days. Evil_Legacy's forum name speaks for itself.

I've only ignored one person in my entire time on this forum, and they weren't even a troll, just a person who thought they were so hilarious which I found incredibly grating. I removed him from my ignore list on the day of The Announcement because it just didn't matter anymore. But now I think I've finally found someone worthy of that recognition. So bully for you. Now get off my thread.

Hey, not everyone takes a game as a life and death situation. Some people can actually tell the difference between the gaming world and the real world unlike you.

Is a game life-saving? No. Can a game help you improve upon yourself as a person? Possibly. Can a game be detrimental? Possibly.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a rich social life and seemingly endless supply of confidence. Games might just provide that inspiration they needed to get ahead in real life. The game may be one of many sources; it could be a book, TV show or something as small as having the door held open for you by a stranger.

For the record, I will not be hanging myself just because our views differ.
