BTW, is this red side or blue side? (my bid still stands either way)
-
Ah heck, call me crazy but having another base to play in as a base builder sounds fun.
Let me raise the bid to 1 BILLION INFLUENCE.
I know, it makes it hard on others (sorry), but a base with 43 million prestige is too hard to pass by.
My global is @AmericanAngel-Pete and I play on Freedom.
Let me know by ingame email or private message here, in case I forget to check the thread.
To those hoping to get it for less...sorry -
Thanks for the input, everyone.
I have it within my means to put such a website together as a subdomain, if there's a demand for it. I'll have to think about it. -
Quote:Yeah, I know about the Tips overall, I've just been away for a couple months and wasn't sure if something changed in the drop rate or some such thing.Just to add one caveat to the responses you've already gotten:
You can only have 5 tip missions "completed" at a time.
Each "completed" tip mission expires (so it can be "completed" again) in 20 hours.
If you've used up your 5 slots [you can see them on the tips screen] then new tips
won't drop until at least one of the completed tip slots expires and opens up.
[There's actually 3 things there - total tips completed for current alignment (need 10 total to get a morality mission), total tips completed for alignment shift (need 10 total to get a morality mission), and currently completed tips blocking your 5 per day limit]
If you aren't getting tips then
1) make sure you're fighting level 20+ mobs
2) make sure you're on the right side (Paragon/Rogue Isles) if you are a Vig or Rogue
3) make sure you have open slots in your 5/day marker
Thanks everyone! -
Can't look at the inner workings of those to learn from them.
I was thinking more of a hub that had the files zipped up or something, so we just unzip and move to the right folders in order to study them -
Is there a website to download other peoples AE mission creations?
I ask because it would help in learning the thing better if we could see how things are done by the more experienced designers. -
Is there a way to make Tips drop faster? I'm doing radio missions in bricks on my 32 scrapper and I have had ZERO drops all day...
-
Can Praetorians become Perma Villains?
I want to make a scrapper to move over to redside on freedom, but I want to be sure he can actually take over my villain group. -
At one time I had a huge, really huge outdoor area...it was the three largest rooms possible, with doors all the was across.
I was able to do some nice stuff there, but since they removed the double doors ability, it's long gone (beause I keep redoing my base!) -
Quote:Rebuilding from the ground up is a good idea, but it's unlikely to yield results from the Devs. Simply adding in more items would help a lot, like the Arachnos set, a transparent SG Symbol, water...stuff like that.It seems to me that what bases really need is a complete overhaul of the base designer from the ground up to make it more user-friendly, stable, and feature rich.
The problem with that, is that base building is by design only used by part of the player base - namely those members of the SG that have permissions to do so. Therefore the amount of time and effort that such an overhaul needs is not warranted by the number of players it would appeal to.
The solutions suggested so far have been (1) people could create their own SG and their own bases, and (2) personal apartments could be added in addition to (and possibly linked to) SG bases.
The problem with (1) is that it encourages isolation rather than community building. That's bad, so that's out.
(2) sounds good and doesn't really present any problems except this: most (if not all) of the time, only one person is going to see your personal apartment. Screenshots and possible visits aside, it's not going to be the community-wide shared form of player created content that warrants a lot of development work for its own sake.
It seems to me that the one thing that could provide a bit of development priority to this would be to find a way to make the hypothetical new Base Builder tool compatible with the Mission Architect. Add spawn points and other necessary mission features to the base maps that can be activated when the maps are used in active missions.
This way, the base builder is also a mission map builder and, in my opinion, adds a whole new layer of depth to MA.
I know that a base builder overhaul and fully customizable MA maps have both been asked for, and it makes sense to me to bundle those suggestions into one tool (and I'm sure someone else has probably suggested that too). I think that might give the Devs the justification to put the resources into it.
Those and make cabinettes solid instead of see through from the bottom. -
Quote:I like that and the pathing change the best.Oh! I forgot the best one of all. Increasing number of characters allowed in SG.
I just took 2 1/2 months off and came back. The leave of absense was not by choice, but upon coming back I learned that nothing has actually happened since I left...so now I'm thinking of leaving completely.
And I am one of the hardcore Base Builders.
Word is Stacker is taking a hike as well. -
I have farmed and I have been farmed. Not on all my toons of course.
I see nothing wrong with it at all. What? We're supposed to NOT play a toon in a way that miximizes it's abilities? Or NOT join a team with a toon that is capable of doing so?
Sorry.
While I will admit that this game was flooded by new AE Babies when MA came out, and it was irritating, I still am in favor of farming. Look at it this way...most of the new players that come and farm do not stick around long enough to learn to like the game.
In my case, I've been playing since beta, with few breaks since. I remember the grind this game was originally. It took me a month to get to 17 on a tanker, and to realize I didn't like that toon.
I restarted it as a scrapper and it is my main toon. Played the hard way to 50. After that, I decided I had earned the right to farm...especially since I had taken my time with my main.
And I still do take my time on several toons. Some I actually TURN OFF EXP until I complete their storylines.
So it works both ways. -
I have a Purple and Green toon, complete with a villain base to match
It was inspired originally by Kang the Conqueror from Marvel, but I have since improved on the look. -
Quote:Actually, they could replace base raids with a SG War system much like arena. Most of the coding is in place. Maps generated would be random that way. Here's the short version of my issue with bases. The only reason to use a base is for crafting and that is depending on what zone you are in. Period. It doesn't matter how uber sexy the base building community makes their bases look if nobody takes the time and effort to actually go into them.
The devs have done a good job of nearly eliminating the need to use a base for travel as they have made a number of ways to ease travel use for all players. You are basically looking at restricted zones as being "out of the way."
Base raids? (laughing)
Easiest thing to do is to make the mission computer worth a damn. Missions from it should give bonus prestige. All the more so for more members of the SG being involved. Let's say you get a prestige factor of 2 for SG members, 1.5 for coalition members, and 1.0 for anybody else. You could even have a porter that goes to whatever mission you get from it. You could even make unique maps/zones for some of the missions. Now people want to go due a SG mission. Now startup SGs get help in terms of prestige.
Even if the quick and easy fix for not doing base raids would be to include the various Items of Power as buyable through prestige, at least this would give older SGs something to burn their excess prestige on. I'm just sitting here listing items that could be given to bases and just shaking my head this hasn't been done yet. "Dude, we got the Super Defensitor. It gives us all a small def bonus," or "We got the Ultra Craftinator. It helps us save 10% on crafting cost."
As far as other base uses...you have a point. But the biggest use is the ability to express ourselves ingame and show it off. That's important to a lot of us. Just like MA was important to the storytellers. -
Quote:That would NOT be good enough. Every time complaints get to a fevered pitch, a red name makes a slight mention that they "talk" about bases in their meetings. Yet nothing EVER comes of it.Yes, some red name mention of bases would be nice. Increasing salvage bins beyond the limit of 30 would be nicer. I fondly remember the days of having hundreds of items in them.
I quit the game for 2 1/2 months...not by choice but due to finances and no Internet...I only just came back a few days ago and still nothing new to bases.
And what ticks me off is that they can take the time to make a stupid Vanguard SG Symbol, but they cannot take a tiny portion of time to make a blank sg symbol.
They've been blowing air up our rears for years, and we've been just accepting it.
There is ZERO hope for Bases. It's not because of coding...it's because they want to make a profit by bringing NEW subscribers to the game, or bring back old ones. We existing ones don't count for anything anymore.
They could make us happy by using existing coding with just a few edits, such as adding water to bases (water already exists in the game), or adding the same items in NPC bases to player bases.
All of that coding is there...they just have to do a little editing and add them to the base editor. Just one item each month would satisfy most of us base builders. But it won't happen.
Because we don't exist on their radar.
Which is why I likely won't be back after my subscription runs out this time. I'm tired of being ignored. I don't blame Stacker at all. -
If I thought I could get enough cash, I'd sell one of my SGs. I have one with all the badges, all the upgrades and somewhere around 100,000,000 Prestige on Freedom.
But I would want real cash for that baby -
It's quick...it's easy.
Put a fully transparent SG Emblem in the next patch.
It would take less time to do than it took to make the Vanguard Emblem, right? -
I made Tripple-Layered Pumkin Pie this year for the first time...man that turned out awesome! All you do is add Cool Whip to each layer, varying the darkness, and that creates the illusion of multiple layers. Tasted awesome too!

Quote:I could swear I have 19 storage units. Is there an SG badge or something that adds one? Also, you can only have a max of 18 storage units (includes all salvage, enhancement & insps) for a base, no matter the size.
I will have to confirm the number of storage units when the servers come up. -
Wait...what space stations? I hope you don't mean the basic tech maps we always get.
-
It doesn't work for me either...but the new Mids should be released today or tomorrow.

Black Scorpion:
Quote:LinkWith this power, your character will be on par with our most powerful NPCs, but that's not to say there will no longer be challenges for you. We're specifically designing content that tasks our Incarnate-level players with challenges only they can stand up to. The real universe-shaking stuff. Some of our best work has gone into designing these encounters and the trials and tribulations they will put your characters through.
I was read the above article and noticed the quoted statement. Does this mean interplanetary travel?
And if so...what are the chances that Space Stations will be offered in place of Bases? (like the Justice League station) -
Quote:They should have Rhode Island giveaways to make up for it. Doesn't seem fair.Unfortunately, between RI State Laws being what they are and NCSoft not wanting to go through the pain of the RI State Law process under Chapter 11-50-1, we RI players have been left flailing in the wake of disinterest and bearaucracy. I don't fault NCSoft so much as I blame RI. I tried, using State Rep Patrick Kennedy at the time, to try to get this law changed or ammended, however, he left public service, and no one has shown interest in supporting me towards this from my multiple emails to our legislature.
Here are some links that give the dreary and unhappy details:
Section 11-50-1 of Rhode Island General Laws
and for easier reading:
How Stuff Works related article
Put simply, NCSoft doesn't want to pay the fees nor do the paperwork and posting required by RI State Law, understandably.
"Any person, firm, or corporation proposing to engage in any game, contest, or other promotion or advertising scheme or plan in which a retail establishment offers the opportunity to receive gifts, prizes, or gratuities, as determined by chance, in order to promote its retail business, where the total announced value of the prizes offered to the general public is in excess of five hundred dollars ($500), shall file with the secretary of state upon a form that he or she shall provide a statement setting forth: (1) the minimum number of participating objects to be made available; (2) the minimum number of prize winning objects that will be included in the promotion or advertising scheme or plan; (3) the proportionate opportunity of winning prizes; (4) the minimum value of prizes to be made available; and (5) the rules and regulations pertaining to the promotion or advertising scheme or plan which shall include the period of time and the geographic area to be covered by the contest. There shall be a filing fee of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) when the statement is filed. Failure to file a statement shall be a misdemeanor."
The only chance we RIslanders currently have is if the prize item has no redeemable value (electronic or digital, per se), or the total prize offering doesn't exceed $500. I've discussed this with Ocho and Avatea, and when (no value) free items or equivelant digital giveaways (such as costume codes) are done, I figured Rhode Islanders should be allowed to participate in those particular contests, since it doesn't seem to count under Section 11-50-1 of Rhode Island General Laws. Both have told me their 'legal eagle' would be forwarded my information. No news or changes have occured on this front yet, nor the last couple "under $500" contests.
Regardless I'm not upset, just disappointed that once again I don't get to play in the sandbox with the rest of you for this.
And, for the record...I will now NEVER move to Rhode Island! -
Quote:CRAPPPP! Wouldn't you know I have to be somewhere at 1pm eastern!!!!! Arrrrgh! One thing that bothers me, I live in the Eastern time zone, the servers normally go down at 7am for maintenance and are back up around 9am or so. When I read that there was going to be a 4 hour downtime I ASSumed that the servers would be back up around 11am or at the latest by noon. I just read it again and the scheduled time for them to come back up is 1pm. It could realistically be 2 or 3pm before they actually do come back up. I play mostly in the daytime so there goes most of my day out the window.
Still, if i19 does come out today I'll forgive them.
Now watch, I'll come home and my Internet will be out!
-
Really...would it be too much effort for a redname to post a "Yes!" or "No!" on the i19 question? lol.
