Thanks for the feedback Obsidian.
I just threw some slots into the shield to make it effective since I don't know the rech required for perma-eclipse, mind telling me what that is?
I knew from the start of this build that I would be tight on slots, but I don't know what to give up (besides the shield and stamina) to put into the dwarf attacks and unchain.
Also, I really didn't like grav. snare while I was leveling either...but I just couldn't think of anything else to grab. -
Whoops, I completely forgot to post my current build yesterday. Here it is, any feedback is welcome!

I know that some of the slotting is odd, but I felt kind of stretched to place enhancement slots. -
Hey all. With my WS getting closer to 50, I'm starting to look around for some builds. I'm focusing on maximizing his damage output and survivability as much as possible. I'm still fairly new to WS's, but from what I've seen this is best accomplished by building for +rech to get eclipse and AoE attacks up as much as possible. I'd like a tri-former, just for utility, but I'll gladly change that if there's a better option for what I want. My budget is only around 200-300m, so I know I won't be able to slot any purples. Any build advice would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Alpha -
Chain induction is way better imo.
Jacob's is slow animating and very hard to position if you want more than one target. It reminds me a lot of the old Shadow Maul.
Chain Induction ftw! -

/Dark is great but it requires ALOT of end to run your -dmg/-acc toggle and your group heal is accuracy based and requires your guys to be ALOT closer to the av then you'd like.
Am I saying thugs or dark can't solo avs? No. I am saying bots/traps is optimal for steam rolling through the game. I was level 46 a few days ago tankerminding level 50 mobs for my VG a few days ago and I've soloed 17 avs/heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I say bots/traps. Dark doesnt have hold and disorient protection for yourself, and your main -dam and -tohitt debuff will get knocked off every time u get mezzed.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I know that you're just saying that /traps is better, I just want to correct one thing so that MM newbies reading this don't get the wrong impression of dark/.
The lack of mez protection is really not such a big issue when you are constantly softcapped to positionals, s/l, or whatever. Also, although I had expected otherwise, the end usage of my bots/dark is very good. I have very few set bonuses, and even before them it was no problem. I've never had to pop a blue during AV fights.
Oh, and, as to Twilight Grasp, you actually don't compromise any defense to use it. What I mean is that it is easy and safe to use. If you position fluffy well, your bots will have no health issues and you can stick with just using TG as a debuff/self heal when necessary.
But, you are probably right. Bots/traps is VERY good at AV and GM soloing. But, bots/dark is much better in the general PVE game than /traps will be. I think of bots/dark as more of a jack of all trades. Great at melting mobs away, debuffs, damage, and AV soloing. (imo of course) -
Both are going to be great in the end, so choose whichever primary is most appealing to you. Like I said before, bots would be my number one choice. That was the primary that drew me in to MMs. I've leveled thugs to 50 too, but nothing will ever match the pure awesome-sauce that is bots/dark. Nothing beats setting them to aggressive and watching the lightshow!
-
It sounds to me like you want a bots/dark. It's an absolute beast. Once you hit lvl 38, you're golden. It wipes mobs away in seconds and can handle almost anything. I've soloed multiple AVs on mine, just check my sig (hasn't been updated with my more recent pics, though). /Dark gives more than enough -regen, -res, and -tohit for you to be able to take down AVs with no worry. Heck, with some AVs i can just set my debuffs up, put bg mode on, and walk away for a few minutes to grab a snack.
Really, try out this combo. I promise you won't be disappointed!
*edit* Oh, and as an added bonus, it requires little to no IOs to be successful. -

I see the Immobilize and shield power under Black Scorpion. But don't see anything about a power boost. Is it from slotting?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, Power Boost is one of the power picks. You'll be able to see it once you get access to your PPP. -
Thanks for the help all. I do have a question, though. Being basically a dom nublet, it seems to me that earth/ would pair badly with /nrg as well, since it has quake (which is a lot like ice slick). You dont want to cage the mobs, because that would make quake almost useless for control. So why do those pair well together?
-
Yup, they build and gain the damage boost from fury.
-
So I'm going to re-roll then. Is ice/psi still going to be good, even with the psw nerfage??
-
Thanks for the post. So my Ice/Nrg would be a no-go then? Is it the kb mixed with soft control like ice slick?
-
Hey all. So after lvling on blueside for a while, I've finally decided to come back to villains, mostly to try out the new dom changes. I'm having a little trouble deciding on one, though.
I'm leaning towards either ice/ or earth/ as these are the only sets that I haven't played on doms. I was also thinking about using energy assault because, well, it looks amazing now (But I'm also up for whatever has the most synergy with my primary). I'll be doing mostly teaming and no PvP. Endgame is VERY important for me, so thats what I'm most concerned about. So, which one of these primaries would be the best to use? I was just about to roll a ice/energy, but I wanted some input before spending hours leveling it. -
<QR>
Don't have too much time to comment right now, but what really sticks out to me is that you grabbed fitness at 41, but never even got stamina. Any reason for that??
*edit*
Okay, so after looking at this build again, I see [u]many[u] mistakes. It is pretty pricey, while not getting you near the softcap. When you build a defensive set, try and use IOs with set bonuses that will hopefully boost you to the magic 45% defense mark. You can use Touch of Death, Red Fortune, Zypher, Mako, whatever you need, but what you should aim for is the softcap. Also, the slotting of your passive defenses is strange. You don't need a whole set in them. Maybe 1, 2 defense enhances at most. You can add a LOTG +rchg if you want, though.
There is also a lot of unnecessary powers that you picked up, like leadership and (imo) hurl. I'm guessing that these are for RPing? unless you're using them as mules for set bonuses, there isn't too much of a reason to pick them up. -
Elec/ has great AoE capability, but lacks in the ST department compared to other primaries. I used to love EM, but after the activation time change, I fell that the set is slow and clunky. It has great ST ability, but next to no AoE. Overall they are basically opposites, go Elec/ for AoE and EM for ST damage. Personally, I would not recommend EM on a brute, ever, but that's just me. (There are just much better options which have great ST and AoE damage)
I wouldn't count on ElecM's end drain too much, though. It really isn't that noticeable.
So, yeah, Elec/Inv would be really nice and pretty survivable. I'll post a build later, but this computer doesn't have mids. -
Hey all. After switching over to blueside for the past few months and leveling up some toons, I've been itching to make a new villain. I decided on a corrupter, being that it's the only redside AT that I haven't played for about a year.
I'm thinking about making either a /cold or /rad, but am leaning towards /cold. What primaries are best for those sets? I'm guessing that fire/ would be one (as always) and possibly ice or dark. This toon would really not be doing any PVPing, but maybe a little bit of soloing if possible. Any advice?
Thanks
Alpha -
I would say that extra melee defense would be the better choice. You'll get much more use out of it. Upping your typed defenses would probably be a little easier and you would get more from them since you already have something to build on, but I understand why you want positional, though.
-
Personally, I find it more useful to slot it for +hp to begin with. I think that 3 miracles would probably be a better choice, more health and end rcvry are always nice. Unless you really want the extra defense bonuses from Aegis, the little boost to your non-s/l resistances is pretty worthless with soft capped defense (imo).
-
For a dm/elec, I would definitely recommend the soul PPP. Like cloud said, the -tohit works well with the debuffs from dm. It will give you a nice ST attack in Gloom and Darkest will help your survivability in a long fight.
-
Siolfir pretty much said it all. Is farming your main goal with the build besides running solo? You will have a lot of headaches farming due to the low amount of AoEs available in your primary. Solo, your only problem will be survivability, but popping a few insps should clear that up. I've always found /fire to be very squishy but that's just me.

I think it's too late, at this point, honestly. Nice solution: logical, reasonable.
But we have reached the point of no return, alas. We witnessed knee-jerk reactions and counter-actions, stormy waters that cannot be recalled for recycling.
For me, I never really felt the allure of MA because, though the content was rearranged and original dialogue was injected, the content remained the same. The same as the game. Yeah, sure, I've tried my hand at writing a couple of stories---but with no enthusiasm for either the process or the product.
Best we can hope for at this point is for I15 and Rogue to wash away the bitterness and memories.
As for me, I'm done with the MA. My entire SG/VG refuses to use it for any purpose, now. Quickly, the MA buildings are nearly completely empty like the arenas. Sure, a handful use it and will continue to do so, regardless. But the throngs of players and writers are no more.
[/ QUOTE ]
^ This. I completely agree up until one point. It may just be my server (Free-dumb) but MA is more crowded then ever lately. Heck, my whole computer slows to almost a halt with all of the lag. I cant even see my conversations if I'm in AE. All you can see is "lvl 8 lff puleze!!!!!!!" written over and over.
I tried a few AE teams today due to the fact that I could not find any normal teams and could not form a decent TF. The three teams that I was on were all lead by lvl 10-30s who insisted that a lvl 11 /wp tank could handle a lvl 52 boss farm. Needless to say, they all ended badly. Whether it was from noob players who wouldn't listen and decided to charge mobs or lowbies who decide to go afk and leech. AE has really made this game sad. The OP's idea is nice, but i can't see this happening, I mean the devs would have to actually admit that they made a mistake. On top of that, I think that most of the players will continue to be stubborn and wring out all of the juicy AE rewards they can and then log and switch toons.....but hey, thats just my opinion.
-Mada -
I'd be willing to join smurph, I've wanted to make my own thugs/storm anyway
-
Haha, oh Reactor.....guess you realized that you don't know what you're talking about.
-
To the OP, I totally agree. We would be better of going back to i12 pvp. The zones are completely empty all the time, at least on my server. It's pretty clear that pvp is in NO way better than it was before and is actually worse. The one time I went into sirens since i12, my brute got pwnd into oblivion by flying blasters who I cant touch.... I cant see what was accomplished through this
-
Thanks for your replies. I have another question, though. I completely get why i position my bots away from me, but then how do they get healed the bg mode damage since i cant hit them with heals?
