you dont need io's.
strategy is simple - drop your dark servant ON the av and go to town with your debuffs
i was able to solo many av's as necro/dark. it's even easier as bots/dark since they are all ranged.
1) Nope, you don't. I did it and am doing it with level 35-40 common IO's.
2) Bodyguard mode. Use Defensive/Follow, and then use Goto to park your pets a good distance away from where you plan to tank the AV.
3) You are everything but DPS. Let your pets kill the guy. You are strictly about keeping its attention and piling on debuffs. Taunt takes highest priority, though. Don't let taunt drop, or the AV might wander to your petpile and one-shot something, and then things may start to go pear-shaped.
3b) Also, hopefully you have the Goto command bound to a key, because bots like to wander up into melee range every once in a while. Just keep telling them to go back to the corner anytime someone starts to stray.
3c) And if you do lose a pet, don't panic. Just resummon ASAP. If you have the chance, go ahead and re-upgrade, but most important is getting the pet back up so soak some damage for you.

Thanks for your replies. I have another question, though. I completely get why i position my bots away from me, but then how do they get healed the bg mode damage since i cant hit them with heals?

I let my ProtBots handle it. Since the /Dark heal is AoE centered on the target, the other option is to occasionally drag the AV over to the petpile, toss a heal, and drag him back. But you have to time it around Taunts and around the AV's AoE attacks (if any).
I still suggest ProtBots, and only try this drastic measure when absolutely necessary.
I thought the /Dark heal is an AoE centered on you, not the target. Just wait for the AV to fire an AoE at you, then duck over to the pets and fire off Twilight Grasp then back away before the next AoE lands.

bots/dark is easy to solo against AVs. Just remember that BG mode is your friend and that Howling Twilight isn't just for rez, it's a great -regen debuff.
(Bots/Dark to be exact) Hey all, my bots/dark mm just dinged 50. I have soloed many AV's before, but never with a MM. I have a few questions.
1. Do I absolutely need set IO's to succeed with MM soloing?
2. What is a good strategy, I think i can figure it out, but it's always nice to have some input
3. Does anyone happen to have a good build lying around that I could see?
