Hello base builders! I am trying to implement a cool idea I saw in another base but am having difficulty figuring out how to make it work. I am trying to create a stereo system akin to what is shown in this picture:
I am trying to figure out how the wall grates were placed on the bookcases rather than the wall. -
Quote:The numbers may have changed, but with almost any toon you can set the difficulty at 1 and speed run any number of arcs via Ouroboros. Now, if I could just find a efficient way to get Merits for LotG+Rch or Numina's +/+ without having to solo strike forces..

Silver rolls aren't that bad. I have no problem making a good chunk of influence off of my rolls. I don't think I'd call it my most productive niche, but it is still productive and extremely so when the RNG is feeling generous.

Quote:Shoot, good thing I'm in the club from actually having 1 billion. I only ever think of flipping my pillows for the cool side, except when I was camping this weekend and I was trying to suck in as much warmth as I could. It got way too cold for August nights in the middle of a desert. You're an honorary member if you thought about flipping your mattress when you read this.
BTW: I want to know why my niche suddenly crashed....Must be the craziness of 2XP. A 20 Million inf crafted IO that was going for 20 million has crashed to around 6 million. -
I was going to give CO a spin and see if I didn't find something I liked about it enough to make the switch from CoX, but then along came the announcements of Issue 16 and Going Rogue and that was enough to make me cancel my preorder of CO. I think this game has the base of a successful game and some exciting additions coming in the near future to retain the majority of it's base.
Sure, there will be some who leave, but I think that there is also a good influx of new players and more to come to keep things from going too crazy. -
Quote:You just reminded me of a website I came across during the whole porkulus bill fiasco earlier this year. It gives a visual representation of what $1 trillion looks like.we've all lit cigars with 100 dollar bills before, it just that repeated a lot, and with a small Chinese man to boot!
Imagine walking into *that* warehouse. -
Either they spend it all or have a destruction party like Fulmens. When I think of his influence destruction project, I see the Joker burning a little Chinese man on a pyre of cash. How would that be to just watch it burn knowing it was once yours? Wow, I truly cannot fathom that.

'Tis true, which is exactly the way things are supposed to work. There's another thread talking about what it means to be rich and the relativity of the term is explained there quite well. Of course there are expensive items, but if there weren't, what would I have to spend my influence on? Not everybody has the ambition to build their own base, which is something that I rather enjoy, but creates quite a price tag because my SG is one i run by myself and fund mostly by converting influence to prestige.
I may not have as much influence as Bill Gates, as it were, but I only need as much as it takes to make me feel rich. With time, there isn't anything in this game I haven't been able to acquire.
Quote:...which is bid up as a result of RMT created and purchased inf. All the extra inf purchased from the RMTs that is spent on the elite stuff does get spread out on lower demand items thus raising costs of everything, but supply is appears generally adequate to keep inflation under control for most common items..
Quote:The flippers and ebil marketeers ARE contributing to price increases as they are creating the motive for people to use RMTs. All accused are guilty to contributing to any perceived problems in the market. The statements made by the self proclaimed ebils demonstrates a lack of accountabilty. Nonetheless, the current system allow Ebil marketering, so it's not really their fault. Where the opportunity exists, there will be profit.
The intricacies of market control have been talked about over and over again on this forum. The bottom line is that the market works best when the individuals engaging in the market set the rules. If there is inflation in the market, it is because there is more money moving through it which means an increased opportunity to snag your own portion of it. The goods traded in this game are not a static pie that is divided and subdivided amongst the players, but is a pie that is continually expanding due to player activity. You too can have a purpled warshade and any one of us would be more than happy to tell you how if you're interested in learning.
I might get some flack for saying as much, but we are not as ebil in this forum as we would sometimes like to think. Though we do have our moments when we like to toy with the system. -
My guage for wealth is when I can do what I want without worrying about how much will be left in my account during the interim of my 'work.' As long as I can work my niches and never have to worry about having enough left to cover listing fees, that is rich to me.

I have a solo SG that I am running via funds earned with my main. Now that I have my Gladiator's Armor, it will be nothing but accumulating influence to convert to prestige to continue to build my base. Maybe someday I'll bust it out of solo mode, but for now it's just me and some alts that I used to gain my initial funding. I love that I can convert influence to prestige. Otherwise it would take me a helluva long time to even get where I am now.

Quote:I play a rotation of ways to make my big bucks. In no particular order:I think I have enough cash at this point to start treading into the big boys game but im not sure how to go about it. Any tips you ebil marketeers?
- Many have already explained the basics of flipping. You just need to move away from the salvage and start looking at recipes. Level 50's are probably the easiest. You just need to know what people want. Damage, healing, and defense are the ones I normally work in.
- The cousin of flipping is the buy recipe-> craft-> sell route. You find recipes with a good difference in sales between the recipe and the crafted IO. I generally look for about a 10 million influence profit and buy recipes in bursts at slightly more than what I think anybody else who might be niche-ing the recipes are doing (Look for non-round numbers like 10,203,455). Then I turn around and sell for a few million influence lower than what I think the going rate is. This will not generate as much profit as it could, but it helps ensure your product moves faster than the other guy's which is the whole point.
- The last method I use is to roll-> craft -> sell route. This method is a little more volatile than the others, but can still earn you influence faster than flipping salvage. I'll find a good map, or make my own, in AE and then farm for tickets. A good lietenant map set on difficulty level 4 (can't wait for the new difficulty settings in I16) means you can mow through it pretty fast and get pretty close to the ticket cap without quite going over. Once you've accumulated a good pile of tickets, go and do some rolls. I like silver 30-34 rolls. It's one of the largest pools, but still gets you some pretty good stuff even on the low end of things and still profitable. I don't throw away the junk. I craft everything.
So there's my list of three easy ways to start generating influence a little faster. Have fun! - Many have already explained the basics of flipping. Quote:Oh that is just a little too sad, but I am still laughing! Muah ha!ok the person that pointed out that we are talking about the period immediately following dbl xp is correct and I have played cov long enough to expect the spike my statement was that this is not a normal spike and yes I had to buy pistons for 1 mill to complete a toon lucky for me I only needed 4 more but 4 mill for something I normally pay as suggested 5k or less for was painful and no I am not JOKING its not FUNNY

Quote:Ooops...good thing you didn't see my purchase of a PvP IO for 1.6 Billion. That's right, it's with a 'B'. I still don't know if it was worth it, but if I decide I don't want it, we'll see if i don't just feel generous enough to give it away to some lowbie standing in Atlas who won't be able to use it for a while. I know I'll make it back quickly enough to buy another one and keep the prices high!I can understand a panacea recipe +hitpoints +end costing a lot because of its rareness but 500 million?!? nothing in game should cost that much.
we need intervention please
or if not please make the bm zones PvP'able and show the names of those hiking the prices so I may at least be the hand of justice and retribution -

I didn't see any level 30s available, but I did find a lvl 50 that was actually listed and I decided I wanted it, and I wanted it NAO! Even a patient marketeer can be impatient. Don't spend all that lovely inf in one place like I did
-
I was happy with this post until I got to this little clunker. I am having a severe case of deja vu. Somebody had better reconfigure the matrix. This could be trouble.

Quote:The hardest part of the warshade I found was figuring out how to place my slots. So many powers, so few slots to play with. I'm sure the dilemma is only compounded when you start to try to figure out set bonuses. My WS is shelved for the time being. I haven't found the ambition to get him through the last 10 levels to 50.My new character on Triumph is called The Casual Gamer, currently a level 8 Warshade.
I don't know if you're planning to document how things work out for you, but I think it would be interesting to hear what happens if you do. -
-
My most sincere apologies. I didn't see you standing on the roof trying to snipe him. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't get any drops off him. I'll *try* to avoid slowing you down in the future.

I've solo'd a handfull of AVs and am just over 40% on typed defense and same for melee defense with DA double stacked.
Quote:I've been able to make softcap /WP's, but they have to sacrifice in DPS.
With WP's bag of tricks it really just depends on where you decide to focus. You can focus on regen and probably be fine, or you can focus on defense and be able to take down those AVs. The resists are mainly to help it not hurt as bad when you do get hit. -
Quote:Tried hard to make cash? Hmmm, I seem to recall you bragging about selling a handfull of PvP IOs for just a little more than the OP over 2XP weekend. I am quite sure that in order to reach this level of influence gain, you didn't just list those IOs (were they just the recipes or did you craft them first?) for 1 influence. I don't know all the numbers involved in generating PvP IOs, but I know they don't just rain from the sky either. One could easily make the argument that you worked just as hard to make some cash as the OP, you just took different routes to get there.See what im saying is the OP tried to hard to make cash, if he would have played the game as intended,
Quote:not farm (like he did during dbl xp) they he could have made cash and then some. But you ebil's as u like to call each other like to get rich jacking up prices and not playing as intended, (ie get a drop sell it so someone else can enjoy it) but dbl triple the price to justify your greed make you just as bad as people farming and exploiting.
Quote:you will understand what i mean when there is no one left buying your warez(****).
Quote:Make your cash while you can, the devs just havent figured a way to nerf the market yet.
Yeah, insulting the devs is sure to gain you a lot of points. It's bad enough that you come on this forum with your little tirades, but you have to go a step lower and blame the very people who brought you this game for your woes. Pure childishness! -
I always go for simple IOs around level 20. I just like that they give such better bonuses than SOs and they don't loose effectiveness. Then I IO again at 30 and then leave them until I either retire the toon or decide to go for set bonuses, but that usually doesn't happen until the late 40s or until I actually hit 50.

Quote:Scrappers in general are probably the best AT to pick up and solo. With knockback and mez protection in the early levels in every powerset, it means you'll spend a lot more time mowing things down rather than watching them beat on you while you are sleeping.Ok, I traditionally stick to defenders, controllers, and tankers. But I want a character that I can pick up and solo any time, without being like, dependant on people. So I think I want a scrapper for that role.
So, what works the best? MA? BS? DM?
My only scrapper ever has been Spines/SR, which, though it can solo at level 35, its mostly AoE focused, aaaaand not really great for soloing with any great speed.
Thanks!
My first love when it comes to scrappers was my DB/Regen. Fast Healing and Quick Recovery are absolutely divine in the early levels and helps avoid the pre-stamina down times. Also I can't think of a better flowing powerset than DB with its animations and combos. Regen does require you to pay attention to your health more than some other secondaries, but with careful monitoring, you should be able to run quite consistently without a lot of down time.
My main toon now is a Kat/WP. WP takes a little bit of everything and makes one sweet secondary. Coupled with Divine Avalanche in Katana, you'll find yourself getting hit very little when facing melee combatants and makes for a smooth ride through the levels (although with AE, you can scream through the leveling process and then get a feel for the toon once it's around level 20).
Scrappers are addicting to play and are awesome for solo play. Just pick something run it through a few maps of the AE and you'll have all the powers you need to see how you like the toon.
Have fun! -
Welcome to the cluhb. Soloing AVs is awesome!
