    Anytime.

One of my favorite TFs on my favorite AT. Couldn't go wrong.
  2. Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary!

SGs are glorified personal storage bins right now, so focus on getting invites to channels instead as they are great ways to network.

And dont go jumpin' on Cobalt and BMTs rules. I have my own issues with how the channel is run, but the fact is its a hell of a lot more useful with the current rules than it was as a free reign channel.
    Agreed. Great post, Net.

Personally, I've never really been all that concerned with what social circles my friends are in, so long as when we all get together, we have a good time. That's the bottom line for me.

Regarding BMT rules, I know people have had their issues, mostly revolving around the restriction of certain conversation topics. I see the rules that are in place as ones that promote the overall functionality of the channel, so that people can form TFs without being drowned out by other chatter. I see nothing wrong with having a channel focused towards a certain goal for this reason. And sure, I like to joke around with my friends as much as the next person, which is why I have a channel for that as well.

It's difficult to keep people involved and active in a channel if they feel they are not being heard when they are trying to accomplish something, like forming a team or TF. This leads to people tuning the channel out, which hurts it far more IMO than having structure and rules.

My thanks to Cobalt and the other BMT OPs for assuming the responsibility that comes with moderating the channel. It can't be an easy job for the most part, but the overall effect has been positive.
  4. Great job leading the raid, Cherry!

What's great is that I saw quite a few new faces at this raid, which emphasized to me that there are a lot who can't generally make Sundays. I'm thinking what might be best is one planned raid on Sundays and one unplanned one on whichever day of the week that ends up working out. This would provide more opportunities for folks to attend and not create too strict a schedule for the raid leaders to work around.

Anyways, great fun! Thanks to all that attended.
  5. Thanks again for leading a great raid, CL!

Too bad you might not be able to make it next week, but if I'm around I'll be sure to lend Cherry a hand.

I know it's a bit 'riskier,' as this goes into the PuG territory, but it does help those joining up or starting up to find company and start to get a feel of who plays around here...and you wouldn't believe how far a little civility and kindness from a stranger go to making a player's time more fun, and keeping them involved in a server.
I actually try to do this quite often. Generally, my teams are a mix of SG mates, my global friends, BMTers and mystery meat from Search. I usually check the globals of people I'm teaming with, and if it's one I don't recognize sometimes I'll check if they're in BMT or not. I try to keep an eye out for new players, as well as vets in this position. Ultimately, I'd hate to see people wandering around thinking no one plays the game when there's a very active community on Champion if you know where to find it.

    TA/Something

I have a level 50 TA/A Defender, but if I were to do it over, I'd probably go with TA/Ice. With your TA debuffs, a killer nuke like Blizzard, and 3 ST holds at your disposal (2 from Ice Blast, and Ice Arrow), you've got a nice mix of damage, debuffs and control.

Another tempting combination would be TA/Sonic due to the sheer debuffing ability. However, I've done Sonic Blast before and I simply don't find it very exciting, despite it's debuffing capacity.

    Good luck with your TA!

    Top 5 Builders

I haven't been around the Base Construction forums in what feels like an eternity, so I've forgotten most of the names of people that have inspired me. However, Stacker definitely comes to mind. A lot of folks around that time were pulling off neat tricks for the sake of tricks. Stacker stands out to me because of his ability to combine concept with building complexity, and the finished product is always clean and has a nice flow. The bowling alley and the movie theater come to mind as prime examples.

I wish I could remember other names. I should start looking around again.

I'm with you on this one, Kat.

All this time I've been giving away my own stuff. I can't believe it took me this long to stumble across these pearls of wisdom.

I spoke with Amy about a mid week Hami raid and she said it would fall on others to get it up, she's very busy and couldnt solidly commit..
    Just want to clarify this.

I wouldn't be opposed to helping out with or leading a second Hami raid per week. It's true that over the holiday season I'll be busy, but come January, I'll probably have the time, I just don't know *when* that will be. I'm going to be moving and starting my hospital rotations, and they've given me no set schedule as of yet. Once I know what my hours are I'll be able to give you a better picture of when I'll be available.

My guess is that folks might be busy during the holidays as well. You might want to wait until the new year to start planning 2 raids per week.

See, here’s the thing. My raving, frothing-at-the-mouth distaste for Defenders aside, this set really does shine on Corruptors because they have the offense to take advantage of all the defence that DM brings. But if you –really- want to play it on a Defender that is okay. I guess. Maybe. But don’t expect me to like it. Amy.
Hey, I made my Ice/Thermal Corruptor, so no more cryin'.

Actually, it's not uncommon for 3 man Posi TFs to be completed in 1.5 to 2 hours roughly. So having someone logged off for half to 2/3 of the TF is pretty frustrating and unfair IMO.

Like Talon said, if you know you have to go for dinner or engage in another activity for an extended period of time before you start the TF, either don't start it at all, or at least give the team advanced notice prior to starting the TF to see if they mind. Judging from what this person said "i live with my boyfriend and they make it a huge family deal", if I was in their position, I'd estimate that being a considerable amount of time.

  17. Champion is a great server, and although there are many great SGs you can join, don't feel like you have to make a choice right away. Our main global channel 'BMT of Champion' is a great place to start in order to find teams, join TFs, discuss badge opportunities and participate in server events. For example, we've got weekly events such as Task Force Tuesdays, RWZ raids on Thursday evenings, and Hami raids on Sunday evenings. There are other events posted on these forums on a regular basis. So my advice is that if you're looking for an SG, start by joining in on some of these events to gain exposure to what's out there.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me in game @Amygdala.

    Best wishes.

I'd have to agree. While I don't mind some screaming, I find some is thrown in there unnecessarily just for the sake of having screaming.

My prime example of this is the screamer in the band Alexisonfire (Canadian band, so some of you might not know them.) I find his screaming has an obnoxious quality to it, and I can't figure out why they've kept him around, especially with vocal talent like Dallas Green.

    Here's an example:

I team with people outside my SG, from many different SGs, on a regular basis. What's worthwhile to me is their company, and not what SG they are from. I believe friendship can be facilitated without having to take the extra step to place alts in other SGs. In your example, 1 SG gets 'built up', while 7 people have to leave theirs. If anything, this is a merging of SGs into 1, and not supporting many SGs the way you seem to be implying.

Lastly, every SG has a different view on expanding. Some constantly seek new members, some like to keep it small, some are themed (Eg. Coven of Witches, Pocket Protectors), etc. This type of 'solution' is not suitable for all SGs. I think SGs are quite able to decide for themselves how they'd like to handle other people joining.

So I have read your previous threads, and I won't be participating because I disagree with this premise. But I wish you luck just the same.
  20. I generally never play Scrappers (Defender at heart), but I saw a friend of mine roll an Electric/SD Scrapper and instantly had to have one. The main reason for this was that I was playing my Kin at the time, and couldn't manage to fire off FS because everything was dead in the blink of an eye. Since then, it's the first Scrapper I've ever gotten to 50 and I've managed to IO it such that I'm soft capped on all positions, lots of recharge, HP and regen.

This Scrapper is an absolute monster with IOs. Shield Charge, Lighting Rod, and Fire Ball from Blaze Mastery are incredibly satisfying. Whichever bonuses you choose to focus on, I'd place priority on recharge because although Lightning Rod is amazing, the rest of Electric Melee leaves much to be desired IMO.
