So it's an Electric Scrapper Ye' wantin' to be...

So I'm going to try out this electric melee stuff for a scrapper and curious not so much as to what people would recommend for a secondary, but what people think of the different secondaries paired with ELM so far, PvE, PvP, whatever... just general feel people have as to what works well, what is fun, what doesn't seem to click together as well. My concept I think will work with whatever I pick, but I mostly enjoy seeing what you guys come up when asked.

So, bring out your dead!... well, your thoughts rather...

I'm in the same boat: I'm looking at an Elec/Elec scrapper, but have very little idea what I'm doing, and the Brute guides aren't particularly helpful since the sets diverge a bit and the gameplay is quite different.

For a single origin build you're going to want to slot your attacks for 2 damage 2 accuracy 1 endurance reduction and 1 recharge. Your secondary 2 to 3 resistance and 2 endurance reductions.

I'd also look into getting as much defense as you can get out of pool powers as well. Considering you won't be getting more then 15% I'd also suggest getting some proactive damage mitigation like Lightning Clap to stun most of the enemies in a spawn and then using Lightning Rod.

Those are my 2 cents hope that helped!

I am going elec but as a 2ndary. I tried elec primary at lower levels and the powers rech seemed slower than i liked. So, i switched it to fire/elec. I'm pleased with fire (awesome damage) but at 25 i feel really squishy with my defense. Atm, i have my toggles, 3 resist and 1 end. And my autos at 3 resists. Level 25 commons slotted, not SO's. I'm hoping it'll get better once i can drain their endurance. If not, trash it goes.

I went with /Shield. I have the influence to fully IO out /Shield, and AAO really helps boost the ST damage, which is what I found lacking when I playtested Ele/. Also, /Shield has Shield Charge, which you can alternate with Lightning Rod to farm with, especially if you go Blaze and take Fireball. SC + Fball, next spawn LR + Fball. The lower levels of /Shield are squishy as you are a Defense based set, but the payoff is worth it if you can afford to IO it out.

If you're looking for a lower budget alternative, Ele/ works well with any secondary. Since it has a lower end cost, it helps offset /DA's end usage quite a bit. If you're using it to farm, /WP is excellent for that due to RttC scaling regen, and can work well even with SOs.

Sant pretty much covered what to shoot for with /Electric Armor.

I'm very happy with my Electric/Shield scrapper. I had the resources to completely IO it out and it performs exactly how I want it. Haven't tried AV's or the RWZ Challenge yet though and don't really feel the need to.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my elec/shield right now. It is a toon you'll really want to IO though cause shield is really weak on its own. But you'll normally want to conside IOing most any toon eventually. Another really good build is an elec/sr that i came up with. Lets you play around with lightning rod even if you choose, high defense, just smash em and tag em. I also plan to possibly do an elec/regen but the verdict is still out on that one. Can provide a build for either if you'd like.

I rolled elm/regen. My other two /regens are BS/regen and DM/regen so this was a different feel. The best part is the focus on recharge will have LR back at least every other mob. The downside is when you are in the middle of TS and you need to click a heal. That's my only issue but its a issue that can be handled. Due to the lack of a dmg aura, you'll get better performance by constantly changing targets. I was splitting time with my DB/ela, but, since I hit 41, I got bit by the 50 bug and have to keep going.

I had considered a elm/SR but I wanted to try something that would be considered hard and required some level of thinking. I'm also considering elm/invul. I'll have to save that one for the next wave of alts.

I'm LOVING my elec/shield, and I'm only level 33. When I get Shield Charge and start realizing some of the full potential of the sets...*drool* what was I saying?

Edit: The only shortcoming is the lack of a self heal. After a slight false start, I used Build 2 to "respec" into Aid Self - and haven't looked back since.

Elec/SD is kinda sick, but I went Elec/SR for concept reasons (that and I already had a SD scrapper). Working out well enough, but I miss being able to (AAO+)BU+LR+SC to wipe everything off the map every 30 sec.

I'm usually all about concept. Luckily, there is a lightning elemental shield choice.

Thanks for the info so far, guys, Good stuff. I'm not surprised I've seen a good bit of Shield proponents so far. I started one ELM scrapper with that set, but as I've got one BS/SD scrapper, I thought I would try something else for this one. I had thought about WP or Inv at first. I've heard Regen is clicky and I don't know how well I can manage havong to click a lot with certain distractions ooooh something shiny...

I'd personally go Elec/SR considering how you are waiving your options. With some IOs you'll have good survivability and will be left able to focus on your attacking more.

Yeah, like I said, my Elec/SR is doing just fine, and I also passed up doing an Elec/SD cuz I had a Dark/SD and I don't like repeating powersets. Easy to softcap w/high debuff resists, throw in like Aid Self and you're pretty much set.

Aid self? nah, pick up tough (won't need weave) and go for regen bonuses, much more fun that way!

I throw in another nod for Elm/SD. I've got a very effective (fairly cheap) build that had my Melee Def at 40% in the 30s and Melee and Ranged Capped by lvl 43 (my current level). Also a good thing with Elm is you can slot a Call of the Sandman Self heal proc into Charged Brawl and/or Havoc Punch if you can spare the slot. While a small heal, it definately can help with the few hits that get through your defenses.

Elec/shield is what I went with. Easily made tough, not as bad for end as I thought, and a lot of burst damage.

Hi, I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents as well since I've been messing around with electric melee since it became available. Personally I dont like elec armor... it is too squishy for me. I IO'd out my 50 elec/elec and still died more often than I cared for (thats with taking weave and manuevers). So that led me to my 50 IO'd elec/shield. Concept wise, I'm not a big fan of shields but I know how shields handles from my other toons so I went with it and he is a pure farming machine!!! I will keep him for farming purposes. I think elec/sr is where I'll be happiest (currently at lvl 41). I want to be able to bust up AVs and I've made a build (on mids) that hits the soft cap, has great recharge, and has aid self for those times when hit(s) get through my defense. Theres nothing more satisfying than soloing a few AVs!

I just got my Elm/EA Scrapper, Zap Efron, to 41. Yes, I've caught the 50 bug, so you can catch me on Liberty in RWZ! IMO Energize is not enough! GET AID SELF! I can afford IO's for him, and update them as soon as I can! When I hit 42 tommorow, his IO's are waiting on him in my bin, and it's really worth the effort. Currently, he had nearly solo'ed the Rikti AV! Got him down to half health and this is my first scrapper! It does have potential to be an AV killer!!! To make up for EA, Tough and Weave are a must. The thing I love about it, you don't need CP!! The energy damage is amazingly impressive IMO. Hehehe, capped out energy Resistance, I hear Seige, he's got no chance! Power Surge, I respec'd out of it. It's an "Oh $#!+" power really. I'm going to get Focused accuracy, and PP, it will help with the regen problem I hope.

I am currently rolling a Elec / Shield and loving every bit of it and I have not even started to pimp him out.

I generally never play Scrappers (Defender at heart), but I saw a friend of mine roll an Electric/SD Scrapper and instantly had to have one. The main reason for this was that I was playing my Kin at the time, and couldn't manage to fire off FS because everything was dead in the blink of an eye. Since then, it's the first Scrapper I've ever gotten to 50 and I've managed to IO it such that I'm soft capped on all positions, lots of recharge, HP and regen.

This Scrapper is an absolute monster with IOs. Shield Charge, Lighting Rod, and Fire Ball from Blaze Mastery are incredibly satisfying. Whichever bonuses you choose to focus on, I'd place priority on recharge because although Lightning Rod is amazing, the rest of Electric Melee leaves much to be desired IMO.
