Hey guys, so I know I re-introduced myself here about a month ago, then proceeded to fall into the abyss of the Player's Guides section, but I'm back, and this time with actual ARTZ!
This will serve as my dump for any doodlings I get done while not paying attention in AP Chemistry... Whoops!
This is Defiant Gal, my Elec/SD Scrapper girl who just can't seem to keep that shirt at a reasonable length.
Stay tuned for more, but don't be afraid to browse other channels during commercials--updates may be few and far between.
BAS (Back Alley Scrapper) -
You have to have purchased the Good vs. Evil Edition expansion, and it isn't a jetpack, but rather a jump-pack (The jump pack provides a slower super jump capability, and automatically shuts off after 30 seconds, at which point there is a pretty lengthy recharge).

I am indeed running 32-bit Vista.
My graphics card doesn't say "HD" on it, but ATI doesn't have a driver for just 2400 Pro, just 2400 HD Pro, and I can't really find much mention of a non-HD 2400 Pro on the internet, so I assumed they were in fact the same drivers. -
I'm trying to play City of Heroes on my Windows, since my Mac currently can't play it, but it says the video card is unsupported. I know it should work, since I used it when I had XP, but now that I'm on Vista, it isn't.
I have an ATI Radeon 2400PRO card. When I go to the device manager, it says that "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". It doesn't even name the graphics card, it just calls it a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.
I've tried updating the drivers with the package here, but it still says that my video card is unsupported, and the Device Manager still isn't recognizing it.
Thoughts on how to fix this? -
-
Erm, sorry to be ignorant, but how do I check what card I have? Do I go to System Profiler --> Graphics/Displays?
If so, my "chipset model" is Intel GMA 950. -
I clicked the "Safe Mode" box on the EULA screen and still no luck.
If this is a video card, that'd be really disappointing. I can't change the video card on my laptop... And I *just* spent $30 for Going Rogue, too -
-
I updated to Issue 20, but whenever I click "Next," I just get a black screen that never advances to the log-in. I know that Cuppa_A61Sun is having the same problem, but IDK if anyone else is... Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have 9 level 20-25 Set IOs sitting in Wentworth's on my main marketing character. Most of them have been there for a couple of weeks now, and I just cannot get them to sell--the prices aren't set too high, it's just that nearly no one's buying those set enhancements at the obscure low levels I have them at.
So what do you guys do when you get recipes for IO's like that? Should I just sell the recipe to one of the NPC Stores and not bother crafting it? I only have 5 inventory slots in WW's now because I'm waiting for them to sell... I'd hate to have to take them all down and waste the posting fee, but if no one's ever gonna' buy 'em... -
Would you still suggest a Rad/Devices Blaster over a Rad/Traps Corruptor? /Traps still has Caltrops, and if I went Hero-side, besides less damage, would there be that much difference? While more damage as a Blaster might be nice, at least I wouldn't be gathering so much aggro...
EDIT: Just compared the two powersets in more detail.. It seems like Devices is still much more offensive than Traps, and the Build Up proc in Targeting Drone would be nice. Many of Traps' powers seem pretty useless solo once you consider set up times.
I guess I should stop worrying and just start playing haha! -
-
Hmm, I see your point.. Maybe I should look into Energy Blast/ then...
-
All right, thanks, I'll definitely look into those Debuff sets. Speaking of IOs, does anyone know how the chance for Build Up proc from Gaussian's set would work on the Targetting Drone? Would it just fire the proc when I first bring it out, or would it keep firing it while it's out?

Quote:Well couldn't it be argued that Rad's -DEF and Targeting Drones +ToHit just gives me more slots to *not* spend on ACC? I guess for my teammates, my -DEF wouldn't matter, but for myself, I could work more on increasing damage and recharge, for example, right? Are there any enhancements Rad/Devices would really benefit from that I could perhaps soft-cap or at least really augment by not having to slot for ACC (that couldn't normally be soft-capped/augmented)?There is synergy in combining Radiation and Devices, but it isn't a useful synergy at this point. The to-hit bonus available from Targeting Drone (slotted it's 20%+) combined with Radiation's -Def, means that you have a great chance to hit. Unfortunately, it's easy to get enough accuracy and to-hit buffs to hit +4s 95% of the time, just from slotting cheap IO sets. Chances are that everyone on your team will be at 95% for most content. So Radiation's -Def isn't that helpful.
-
Quote:Ah, I completely forgot about those 2 builds! Yeah, I really like that idea of having a team and solo build... and she's going to just be an alt project, so even if I didn't like the slower solo'ing, I could just play her at higher traffic times so I had a better chance of getting a team. One of the joys of recent years is having more than one build after lvl 20 or so. That being the case, make a team build and a solo one using SOs and common IOs to see what works before investing in the expensive stuff.
...
It might be a slow set solo until the Bombs and Mines but it'll be fun to team with.
That's a good idea to put a Stealth IO in CJ... Instead I was going to grab Stealth, but CJ + IO is probably a lot better endurance wise, plus CJ gives the movement boost. -
Thanks for the great input, guys. Just by looking at the power descriptions, a Corr's /Traps looks really fun, but unfortunately I don't have Going Rogue (...yet). I think I'll try the Blaster out as well as a Corrupter and see how the two go.
Could either of you think of a point when I would know whether /Devices is for me or not? Like perhaps it'll show its full potential after a certain level or after I start slotting? -
I appreciate your guys' feedback, and I've made some changes. I six-slotted Build Up, moved some slots around, and changed some enhancement sets for some other set bonuses that I think work better, since the 6-slotted Build Up added so much defense. And I got rid of Armageddon just because I realized it's not worth the insane amount of influence I'd spend for the extra bonuses. How's this look now?

I have a concept for my very first Blaster that I am pretty excited about, kind of a steampunk-ish, gutsy, Amelia Earhart meets "The Golden Compass". I was thinking of rolling her as a Rad/Devices, since I like the -DEF that Rad offers and Devices fits my concept.
But I'm honestly a little scared to roll her as /Devices. I read seebs's guide to /Devices, and I don't think I'd enjoy all that set-up time before *every* mob... I usually prefer the "Kil Skulz NAO" approach.
Would it be viable to go with Rad/Dev and just use Devices as a supplement to a predominantly Rad-blasting play style or should I really look at a different secondary? I'm not necessarily looking for *perfect* synergy, just something that's fun.
I'd appreciate any of your thoughts. Thanks -
I was hoping I could get some feedback for this build, now after its second overhaul. I've reached the soft-cap, but I was hoping it wouldn't be ludicrously expensive. I realize the LotG +Rchg are expensive, but I was planning on getting most of them through Merits. I also wasn't sure if there were some easy changes I could make to increase some of the other buffs, like +DMG or +RES, and could appreciate any tips for that. Thanks a lot!!

Quote:Thanks for the info, Werner! I switched out the PsiRes in One with the Shield and put in a PvP +3% Def, and that seemed to do the trick. My totals are now 46.5/46.5/45.3 for melee/ranged/AoE. I also switched the levels at which I get OwtS and Grant Cover so that I can get to that 45% cap before level 49. I edited my original build post to reflect the changes. The game uses the higher of your positional and your typed defense. It does not add them. So you can safetly focus on either one or the other. On Shield Defense, you focus on positional defense.
Due to the way defense works, you'll get significantly more survivability if you can get to at least 45%, and preferably a little higher to handle defense debuffs. 45% is a "must" though. 43.4% might look close enough, and yeah, you'll be pretty survivable with it. But it's not actually all that close in survivability terms. -
All right, well after playing around with Mids' for awhile, and doing some research on the forums, I've come up with a build with all 24 powerslots finally filled, haha. I was hoping I could get some feedback on this. I have a total of 46.5/46.5/45.3% defense for melee/ranged/AoE, plus defenses for the power types. Do the melee/ranged/AoE percentages add up with the power type percenages, or how do those two numbers combined, when say, I get hit by a lethal melee attack?

I was wondering if Leadership (specifically, Assault/Tactics/Maneuvers) was worth getting for a Scrapper? I know the buff percentages are lower than, say, a Defender, but I wasn't sure how significant this really is in-game. I have an ElecMelee/SD Scrapper who has 2-3 extra power slots to fill, and I simply don't know what to put in them, so I was thinking of going with some of the above Leadership powers, then Kick and Tough for the extra +Res. I've considered Combat Jumping and Weave, but I figured I could probably have +Def pretty well taken care of, though I haven't looked at a build in Mids' yet. Thoughts?

Er, well, hey there, everyone. I doubt most of you know me; I've been gone a long time, and I don't know most of the names here anymore, though just by looking at the front page, I do recognize Thornster and Katfood. After a 2 year hiatus, BAS is back, scrapping the back alleys of Paragon. :P
Hah, well I just thought I'd say hi, and introduce myself to the newcomers of the SSFA forum that I don't know! I hope to start frequenting this part of the forums much more again, and get to know you! And maybe I'll even post a free art thread sometime! Free art? Who said that!
Haha, well it's good to be back! -
Quote:Hah, thanks! Yeah, I wasn't sure exactly how much everything was going to cost--I have really no good idea of what things go for on the market at all! There wouldn't happen to be an application or data bank with average prices, would there? I figure since the market's so dynamic, nothing could really stay up-to-date with fluctuations.Uh, there are some nice sets in there for a frankenslot. I mean, really, really nice sets. The purples, PvP sets, and Hami-Os are going to set you back a lot, even for one or two, but you have a basic idea.
My advice? Take that build, go to the market, and be prepared to replace any enhancement in that list with something else that boosts the same components. Also, look at the places you've slotted generic enhancements, and ask yourself if some two-aspects can't do the same job better.
I think I steered clear of most of the purples for the *most* part, though I'll go back and see if I can make some substitutions.
What I liked about the generic IOs is that they give so much more of a boost than some of the Two-Aspect ones, so like for Fire Shield, where I really just wanted to capitlize on its damage resistance, the generics I placed can do that better than the same number of two-aspects, especially since I don't really need more EndRdx or Rch. But I think I'll go back and look at Mental Blast; maybe I'll slot it similarly to Chilblain...
