Leadership for a Scrapper

I was wondering if Leadership (specifically, Assault/Tactics/Maneuvers) was worth getting for a Scrapper? I know the buff percentages are lower than, say, a Defender, but I wasn't sure how significant this really is in-game. I have an ElecMelee/SD Scrapper who has 2-3 extra power slots to fill, and I simply don't know what to put in them, so I was thinking of going with some of the above Leadership powers, then Kick and Tough for the extra +Res. I've considered Combat Jumping and Weave, but I figured I could probably have +Def pretty well taken care of, though I haven't looked at a build in Mids' yet. Thoughts?

If you are trying to stack defense, Maneuvers is a good choice after Combat Jumping and Weave. Assault will be a minimal increase in damage due to damage bonuses adding to each other, including enhancements. Tactics is good for the to-hit bonus, but is rarely needed. You should definitely have Weave on a Shield Scrapper. It is almost mandatory for hitting the soft cap.

I'd been using Maneuvers and Assault in one build. Maneuvers for the lotg 7.5 and assualt for more damage, obviously. prior to the incarnate slots, 10% dmg took several IO bonuses, so I liked getting that in one power. I think I'm going to get rid of it since the higher tier slots are so lovely.


Level 50 is a journey, not a destination.

The beauty of Leadership on a Scrapper is that when the Mez comes out, the Leadership stays up. Yeah, it's only half the buff value of a Defender ... but so what? It doesn't get interrupted by Mez, because you're a Scrapper ... unlike what happens with the Squishy ATs.

All right, well after playing around with Mids' for awhile, and doing some research on the forums, I've come up with a build with all 24 powerslots finally filled, haha. I was hoping I could get some feedback on this. I have a total of 46.5/46.5/45.3% defense for melee/ranged/AoE, plus defenses for the power types. Do the melee/ranged/AoE percentages add up with the power type percenages, or how do those two numbers combined, when say, I get hit by a lethal melee attack?

The game uses the higher of your positional and your typed defense. It does not add them. So you can safetly focus on either one or the other. On Shield Defense, you focus on positional defense.

Due to the way defense works, you'll get significantly more survivability if you can get to at least 45%, and preferably a little higher to handle defense debuffs. 45% is a "must" though. 43.4% might look close enough, and yeah, you'll be pretty survivable with it. But it's not actually all that close in survivability terms.

Thanks for the info, Werner! I switched out the PsiRes in One with the Shield and put in a PvP +3% Def, and that seemed to do the trick. My totals are now 46.5/46.5/45.3 for melee/ranged/AoE. I also switched the levels at which I get OwtS and Grant Cover so that I can get to that 45% cap before level 49. I edited my original build post to reflect the changes.
