Ice/Psi Build Feedback

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my Ice/Psi/Fire build. I stayed with SO's except for Hover and Drain Psyche, just because I thought the Global Enhs from Hover would be nice, and I couldn't find a combo of SO's I liked for DP.

You know, you could probably frankenslot an entire build for the cost of that one Luck of the Gambler proc. It really doesn't come cheap, and like you noticed with DP there are powers that you really can't enhance properly in 6 SOs. Several of your attacks could really benefit, maintaining similar accuracy and damage and picking up more recharge and endurance reduction.

And yes, you could get the LotG with alignment merits, but you could also get the LotG proc, sell it for well over a hundred million, and fund an entire build. And LotGs, while great, don't quite make a build in itself - they're at their best stacked with other recharge bonuses to gain some specific advantage, like perma-dom or perma-hasten.

don't worry about slotting DP for endmod. doesn't need it. 6 slot with 5 doctored wounds and an ACC IO and call it a day. for the rest of the build, I'd have to agree with mack and just go ahead and frankenslot everything until your ready for your final build. I typically start doing this when I'm between level 25-30. this way you also won't have to upgrade enhancements every few levels, which will save you tons of inf on your way to 50.

SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)

I'm a little confused; so I should start at 25 to get IOs to frankenslot my build, and just keep working at accumulating more and more enhancements over the levels until 50? But wouldn't that leave most of my build enhancement-less? Or should I slot everything with SOs, then fill them in with IOs as I go, only upgrading the SOs that haven't already been replaced?

And thanks for the feedback about LotG; I didn't realize it was so expensive! Does that mean I should single-slot Hover, and if so, what should I put the slot into? I really don't have an idea of what needs it... Maybe adding it to Chilblain and frankenslotting that?

Sorry for the lack of clarity. The way you go about doing it really depends on your funding at the moment. If you have the money, then go ahead and frankenslot the powers you have - with whichever ones you can afford, leaving 1 slot per power to fill in with SOs if you'd like. If you don't have the money to do it all, then I would say at least still focus on frankenslotting your attacks to make them as efficient as possible and fill in the rest of your powers while you play and get drops.

example - you slot an attack with a few acc/dam/rech, acc/dam/end, and an acc/dam/end/rech. At the lower levels, your acc should be ok, as well as the end/rech aspect but you may want to toss in a damage SO to help cap the damage for that attack. Then all you would have to do is replace that SO every few levels instead of all of the enhancements in that attack.

hope that all makes sense. still a little out of it from the night i had last night

The key thing about frankenslotting is that it is cheap. The market forum has dozens of was to make a million influence in a couple of minutes, and a million influence will get you a lot of cheap recipes and underpriced salvage. It wouldn't surprise me that you could get a frankenslot build (shopping a little carefully to avoid rare or high-demand salvage) for less than a store-bought SO build. The basic idea of frankenslotting is "slot whatever you can afford that helps" - if that's a damage SO or common IO, then so be it.

And I'm not recommending you run around with empty slots. My Fire/Earth Dominator is about two-thirds frankenslotted. I still need some enhancements to finish it all off, and there are SOs in those powers. It's still cheaper to not need to replace the enhancements until I start trying to assemble a final IO build, and I was able to grab some cut-price Basilisk's Gaze sets for the holds and a Stupefy set for Flashfire, because I knew I'd need 'em eventually.

As far as hover goes, I'd consider a second "luxury" IO - the Karma Knockback Protection IO. It gives you a little KB protection while domination's down, which will be a while for a SO build. And being KBed when you need Ice Slick or Drain Psyche *right now* isn't fun.

All right, I get what you guys are saying.. Thanks, that makes a lot of sense! Now back to Mids'! haha

I'm back from the lab, and my frankenslotting is complete! (I think). How's this look? I also was still unsure about Drain Psyche, but if I truly don't need EndMods, I think the new slotting is an improvement.

Uh, there are some nice sets in there for a frankenslot. I mean, really, really nice sets. The purples, PvP sets, and Hami-Os are going to set you back a lot, even for one or two, but you have a basic idea.

My advice? Take that build, go to the market, and be prepared to replace any enhancement in that list with something else that boosts the same components. Also, look at the places you've slotted generic enhancements, and ask yourself if some two-aspects can't do the same job better.

Hah, thanks! Yeah, I wasn't sure exactly how much everything was going to cost--I have really no good idea of what things go for on the market at all! There wouldn't happen to be an application or data bank with average prices, would there? I figure since the market's so dynamic, nothing could really stay up-to-date with fluctuations.

I think I steered clear of most of the purples for the *most* part, though I'll go back and see if I can make some substitutions.

What I liked about the generic IOs is that they give so much more of a boost than some of the Two-Aspect ones, so like for Fire Shield, where I really just wanted to capitlize on its damage resistance, the generics I placed can do that better than the same number of two-aspects, especially since I don't really need more EndRdx or Rch. But I think I'll go back and look at Mental Blast; maybe I'll slot it similarly to Chilblain...
