Part 3 and 4 definitely aren't teasers for the new series.

I think the way the relationship is portrayed varies depending on which writer is doing the missions. My most recent exposure to the Clockwork King was from the SSAs, and it seemed very... yeah.
Anyway, it could go either way, diminutives are used as terms of endearment, and this game had Tyrant/Dominatrix so it wouldn't be the weirdest thing that happened. -
Penny Yin's Psionic Crush is powerful... but not as powerful as the one the Clockwork King has for her. Could she ever love him for who he is, with bolts, rust and all? That's the major cause of Psionic Torment for him. He hopes the sight of his towering form gets her Psionic Pulse quickening... and prays that they never Psionic Drift apart.
Okay, I'm not even going to touch 'Impenetrable Mind' and 'Psionic Thrust'. That's just no good. -
Quote:I've said such about some products on the market, but for me it's more a case of 'I don't think the prices charged are good value, so I don't buy them. If they were cheaper, I may reconsider that.'I love people that say that there's nothing that they want to buy, but that they should be cheaper. "Your store sells nothing but crap! I wouldn't buy anything here! However, you should sell me the stuff for 50% off, because I still won't buy it at those prices!"
Let's take the IO set 'Theft of Essence': 856 Paragon Points when not on sale, 428 paragon points when on sale. 6 IO's forming a set that can't be traded, sold on the AH or upgraded with Enhancement Boosters, can only be used on one character unless enhancement unslotters are used to remove it and have it sent to your e-mail in box.
For 56 points left I can get a power set that could be used on any new character on any server I have space on. For 28 points less than the sale price, I can get a costume bundle that has pieces that can be used on any costume slot on any character on my account.
Seeing as I have many characters, I'd rather A: Purchase things that can be used on many characters, or B: Get Super Packs for the merits and ATO's, then convert merits/sell ATOs for inf for the enhancements I want. -
I kind of imagine the Battalion to be either:
A - Somewhat akin to the Shi'ar Empire/Imperial Guard from Marvel as seen in X-Men: The Animated Series
or
B - Tiny yet huge-brained psychic foetuses inside power armour/death mechs/artillery units. (Or, alternatively, shrimps inside power armour. So we can call them the Tempura Batterlion.) -
New faces scare me. The best new face the team have done was the Organic Armour face from the Mutant Super Booster. Good detail, smooth, no oily plastic sheen that centres the face slap bang in the middle of cheap RealDoll territory.

So, with a damage proc like... Malice of the Corruptor's Recharge/Chance for Negative Damage, on my Water/Nature character:
If I slot it in Whirpool, it will have the chance to go off twice, once when cast, and then ten seconds in, and then that's it because it has a 15 second duration (according to Mids, may just be for the -def though.) Is this a chance to go off for all in the whirlpool, or just one?
Would it be better if I slotted it in an AoE power like Water Burst or Steam Spray, or more consistent in a longer recharging single target power like Water Jet? -
A lot of the stuff that I'd like to see that some people would consider 'anime' or 'manga' is more Japanese that we've gained exposure to through the export of such mediums.
I for one would love to see traditional Japanese theatre masks and head types in game. Oni (which we have already as found on the Ninja Mastermind's third pet), Tengu, Kappa, and other types of Yokai. Noh masks are also visually distinctive, and face masks done in the style of Kabuki characters is also very eye-catching.
Some people may say 'where would these masks fit into CoH?' Well, Paragon City is a cosmopolitan place, and player characters could originate from anywhere to arrive there.
Of course, there's also the work of certain designers that catch people's eyes. I'd love to have the type of cloaks and coats seen in the character designs of Takahiro Komori, from the overcoats and greatcoats seen in Cowboy Bebop, to the fantasy cloaks seen in Scrapped Princess. -
If we did get it, and I hope we do, I'd like to see the possibility of having more than one colour scheme. I think it's most likely we'd see Grey (Which would suit martial artist and dancercise instructor Dale Drake), but I've got characters that'd suit a Black Wolf transformation too (Thule battlemage and US government agent Nachtbrecher), and White (blood mage and animal tamer Haemokin).

Quote:Some of those are the ones that you can unlock by doing the level 30 Aura mission on Red or Blue side. Or you can pay 160 paragon points to unlock all those level 30 mission auras for all characters from level 1, like the cape unlock.Maybe there's some way to unlock these for free, but the game is telling me they cost 160 points each. Most of these were auras we had before the switch to Freedom.
The other ones are from the Origins pack (That had 5 capes, 10 auras IIRC)
PS: The Aura unlock and Cape unlock? First things I bought from the store. Being able to make a character with a cape and the Glow eye aura from level 1? For any character on that account? For the low-low price of 160pp*2? A-freaking-mazing. -
Quote:To date?Does someone make and actually stay with every new character they make with a new powerset?
Ninja/Time Mastermind, Beam/Dark Corruptor, Street Justice/WP Brute, Dark/Dark Controller, Water/Nature Corruptor, Titan Weapon/Electric Brute, Kinetic/WP Scrapper, Staff/WP Scrapper, Beast/Pain Mastermind, Demon/Thermal Mastermind, Electric/Electric Dominator, and coming in i24 Fire/Martial Dominator and remaking my DP/Mental Blaster into DP/Martial.
... Yeah, I have a problem. ._. -
I wonder what Greg Land's expression was when he heard the news.
Wait, he only has one. -
Don't forget, Synapse, Masterminds need Cold Domination too!

Quote:Every month as a VIP you get 400 Paragon Points (550 if you're at the top tier of the Paragon Reward table), 1 Paragon Reward Token and 1 server transfer. Those points can be put towards power sets, costume sets, whatever. You also get access to all the Signature Story Arcs included in that, Incarnate Trials, Dark Astoria Incarnate Storyarcs, First Ward, Night Ward (I think?), 12 character slots per server (with a maximum of 48 unlockable per server, this goes down to 36 if you're not subbed as a VIP).Well, I am VIP player and I've been playing the game for about almost six years now. Something that really bothers me as that I have to pay for new powersets. Before the launch of Freedom powersets were included in the sub ( correct me please if I am wrong) now it seems almost every powerset has to be purchased off the market. Now as VIP we don't even get a discount. First off, I understand we get new content in itrials, some costume sets, and story arcs ..etc trust me I aware of we get, however it doesn't feel VIPish at all!
I have no problem by the way with content and what the development team is doing. My only concern it seems that everything requires shelling out money for points. Hell a half off discount for new powers would suffice not even that.
You get free access to several costume sets that you would otherwise have to buy as a premium player, like the IDF pieces.
As has been said before, we're getting new powersets faster than ever now, thanks to the cash injection from the Paragon Market.
If you spend smart, you could just pay the sub and unlock powersets with those 400pp a month. It all depends on what you want to do with the market. If you want something, and don't have the points, you can either save the stipend or spend the money.
You could even wait for things to go on sale to pick them up to make the most of your stipend. They had several powersets on sale during the last DXP weekend. -
Quote:I'll speak for myself here as that's the only person I can speak for:Wouldn't it encourage more soloing, the opposite of what we said we need?
I don't often play support-heavy powersets because I like having the option to solo as well as to team. So instead of defenders I roll corruptors, masterminds and controllers who have the damage and tools to enable me to play them solo, and pick secondaries that can assist in those goals.
If those support-oriented powersets had a little something to give the caster for if they happen to be solo, I'd be more likely to roll them, which means there'd be more characters of mine that could help support teams.
My point is that by not avoiding team-support at the sake of solo-buffing powersets I'd be more likely to have a character I'd look for teams for, because I'd be thinking "If it's slow to get a team going I can still at least do some stuff by myself without lacking a lot of tools compared to other characters." -
Quote:If classes with a support primary or secondary focused on buffing others could use their buffs on themselves, to a limited degree... might that not encourage more people to play them as their powers would be usable even if there was no team, rather than people thinking "I might not get a team, so I'll not roll x or y"?Ehhh I'm on the fence with this one. If there is anything this game needs to keep promoting, it is teaming with other players. Brutes are the tankmages in this game as it is, at least, that's how it seems much of the time. I think there should be a strong need for a defender on a team, as an example.
-
Quote:Ah, so they feared CoDzilla. This was done to promote more "team play" as many of the original designers had a distaste for tankmages and/or 3rd Ed D&D Clerics (can buff/heal/do everything by themselves).
Are there any mechanics that would let a buff from something like... Ice Shield affect the caster, but at a much lower power? So in the case of Ice Shield, it would do, un-enhanced, 15% Def Melee/Smash/Lethal for allies, and I dunno... 5% for the caster?
And if there were, would the devs consider it? -
Hah, that's awesome. I think I can get a good story idea out of that. Several, in fact.
-
Damn, the new Skulls look terrible...
...ly awesome. I don't even mind the Club hair. -
Unless you go with the idea that the spirit isn't at peace and that they have unfinished business, unfulfilled desires and regret that stops them from passing over peacefully.
That seems like a very natural thing. -
I want more slots. I'm very close to running out on Union, and the thing is:
A: I don't want to play on another server. I've been on Union since February 2005, it's my home server and it's where I've made great memories.
B: If I move characters off the server I risk losing the name which is often a huge part of the character, and I lose their SG Base if they're in a solitary SG.
C: I have a secondary account, but playing that lacks all of the reward tokens, costume sets and power sets I've earned and purchased over the years on my main account, and two subs just doesn't make sense for me.
D: More character slots means me giving the devs more money because I can go 'I'll get that powerset now and make a new toon'.
If they provide more character slots, I'll get them toot sweet. If they're going to keep bringing out new sets, they've got to offer more slots. -
Steel Canyon needs big glass and steel walkways looming overhead, running between the buildings and around them like arteries. Neon signs and monolithic LCD displays beaming hot, delicious advertising and brand appeal up the towering skyscrapers. A sandwich, the lower slice of bread darkened and beset by clumps of mould and decay growing in the darkness, out of sight of law and order, a middle section full of bright lights showing the products and services you want to own and welcoming doorways beckoning in shoppers to spend their hard earned dollars, topped by an almost ethereal layer of bread where the rich dine and sup expensive coffee, and return to their penthouse suites with the occasional descent down to 'nature', parks in the surrounding area of the canyon which lack the chaos of nature for an almost plastic dream of strictly ordered and committee approved 'scenic beauty'.
Sky Raiders make their mark early, swooping low to break into high tech facilities lower areas or soaring high to plague the lockboxes and safes of the city-living wealthy. In the dark below the elemental powers of the Outcasts crackled, unbridled and raw.
Or something like that. -
