    MA Questions

    [u]Color and Size[u]

Can also be accessed through the right-click menu on most text fields.

    The general syntax is:

    <color #000000>This text will be black</color>

    where "#000000" is a html/hex code representation of a 24 bit colour.

You also have access to some other formatting tags through the menu, such as

    italics (<i&gt
    bold (<b&gt
    and text size (<scale X> where X is between 0.8 and 1.2).

    [u]Substitutions[u]

$name or $target - the name of the target of your villain/npc/whatever.

$supergroup - that person's supergroup, if none, returns "No Supergroup"

    $class or $archetype - their Archetype

    $level - their Level

    $origin - their Origin

$heshe or $Heshe - substitutes "he" or "she" depending on gender (capitalized will cap the substitution)

$himher $Himher - same as above, using "him" or "her"

$hisher $Hisher - same as above, using "his" or "her"

$sirmam $Sirmam - same as above, using "sir" or "mam"
  2. You can always restart an arc you accidentally misvoted on; revote; then quit. The newest and latest vote will count and the old vote will be thrown out.
  3. Tickets replace drops.

In the traditional game, if, after killing a boss, a drop was rolled (e.g., a rare recipe), then it would go to one player on the team. You don't multiply drops or split them. Only one player would get that rare recipe drop from that boss. But that's OK, since, as a group, you should be killing lots of bosses handily.

In an MA Arc, the same thing happens. A boss is killed, a drop is rolled, and if that drop is a rare recipe, it goes to one person randomly chosen... but that person gets 5 Tickets instead or the rare recipe.
  4. No One Has Seen a Real Ninja (Perception Challenge) #1110

The real challenge is seeing through powersets that have the most Stealth and -Perception. Oh, and Ninjitsu is still bugged in that it gets the crit from hide for every attack, even when not hidden. It's only 3 bosses, but they're lts. on lowest difficulty level. Comments have ranged from being "totally impossible" to 'it wasn't a challenge, it was easy."
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Any particular reason why these were exluded? (correct me if I'm wrong I just haven't seen them anywhere after hours of searching). Or are there any plans to include them in the future? Figured they would have been somewhat popular.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A few were in during Beta but were pulled to be fixed for proper spawnage. They're supposed to come back when fixed.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I don't know how they did it, but i played a map that had a spawn of about 20-30 AVs, good times.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Objective: Add Boss (AV); Number: 30.

    Or...

Objective: Add Boss1 (AV); Number: 1.
Objective: Add Boss2 (AV); Number: 1.
Objective: Add Boss3 (AV); Number: 1.
    ...
Objective: Add Boss30 (AV); Number: 1.
  7. It doesn't need to be unlocked.

Keep in mind that players hate this map if you make it kill-all since there are so many hiding places.
  8. As a rule..

[u]Adding to a a custom group expands the range.[u] The range will be the total of all in the group. If you put a 20-40 faction in a group with a 30-50 faction, then the range of the mission will be 20-50. At 20-29 you'll get just the first faction; at 30-40, you'll get both factions; at 41-50 you'll get just the second faction.

[u]Adding a separate custom group (or objective) will restrict the range[u]. The range will be the narrow range in which all the groups/objective overlap. If you put a 20-40 faction in a group with a 30-50 faction, then the range of the mission will be 30-40 and both factions will appear in that range.

    Arc Reviews

    [ QUOTE ]
Hello, all. I thought I'd speak up in my defense. I am the Green Dwarf that Venture is speaking about. From the outset, I told everyone I knew that I would 5 star everything as I just didn't want to intentionally grief anyone in this game. When @Jake Summers slammed my arc so badly, I tried to reason with him to no avail. In the end, I told him I would reduce my fives that I had given him to the same scores he thought I deserved. And I thought that was the end of it. Well, I was wrong. For four days, I have received praise and kudos for my storyline. This afternoon, I suddenly started getting low stars with no comments from a lot of people. I can only attribute this fact to this flame from Venture. I doubt I will ever write another story arc after this. I will leave my arc up for those who care to play it for its merits and I'm sorry if my actions offended anyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or, you can take the complaint to heart and put in a ranged ally in the mission v. the blue mito.

Forgive me if this is too obvious, but if they look that bad, why not simply prohibit certain ATs or power sets from taking them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me clarify something here, because everyone’s taking Posi’s joke about Martial Arts a bit too literally. The only animations that robes look okay with are the basically the ones where you stand around fully upright. So the idle animations, a handful of powers, and a number of emotes. They get trashed pretty quickly the second you go into even a basic combat stance, much less something as extreme as taking a knee to rest. There are numerous core animations (animations that are shared between all player characters) that would be problematic with attempting to add full length robes to our current player model skeletons. That's before even getting into specific powersets or ATs.

This is not a limitation because of Martial Arts. It’s an issue with all player characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So how come it works with Tsoo and Liches? Do they not have legs under there? The only emote I've seen the Lich clearly break is ;crouch.

(Nice to have you back posting now that Lent is over. {We're in Triduum now.})

Not to some. Real rewards are random and require me to stop and delete the readily identifiable crap or run off to a vendor/Wentworth's every time I fill up. It's a minor nuisance, sure, but one I'm glad I'll never have to deal with again. With tickets I can pick up what I actually need salvage and enhancement-wise then roll for recipes if and when I actually feel like taking the time to deal with crafting and selling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. And as I said, for lvl 50's MA is a golden reason to blow the dust off some old characters, but not getting tickets for some of the best missions removes a lot of the appeal. I was actually part way through a long arc and when I picked back up in the middle I was suddenly no longer getting tickets .

I really don't understand the reasoning behind this one, to me personally, it makes me want to avoid the Dev's pick missions, which seems kinda counter-productive?

    Arg

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dev's Choice are in no way going to suffer for lack of Ticket-giving. They dev-recommended which means they'll get plenty of play.

What you might want to do is take a less than level 50 alt through the Dev's choice so that they can level up with normal drops and XP.

If Tickets are seen as being a valuable currency (and I and several others in this thread think so), then Tickets will help those arcs which are not Dev's Choice so that the Dev's Choice don't become the only place players go to in the MA.

    1. Obvious farm is obvious.
    2. I burning your farm.
    3. Hi, Opal!

    And that's the Straight Dope.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
How long until someone takes this a step further and puts a marriage proposal in the MA?

    [/ QUOTE ]

But that would require purchasing the Wedding Pack! Who's gonna blow a whole ten bucks on something like a marriage proposal??!!!

I guess they could just use stock characters.

Honey, I have something to ask you, but I think it would be better coming from Dr. Vahzilok...
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Whoa I really need some help - just cant figure some stuff out.....any chance you could point me in the right direction? I am sure its something I am missing.

    1. How do I have custom critters saying stuff when I go through a mish? I was in a mish and saw the spawns do this. I am looking to do a fairly simple defeat all mish & I cant tell where to put in the dialogue or captions or whatever they are.

    2. Also is it possible to add emotes to the spawns in a defeat all mish?

This stuff is a little tricky for me so any help is appreciated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The stationary spawns in a mission are determined under "Choose Mission Settings > Enemy Group." You can't give them text to say and you can't give them an animation.

Spawns which can talk are Patrols. Adding one or more patrosl will take the place of the base mission enemy group spawn points. You can make them the same or of a different faction or a custom group. Also, a boss to defeat can have several lines of dialogue as it is being defeated.

I had my arc banned after 22 people played it (I got the Author badge to prove it.)

Mine was probably banned for the same reason, as it had "Farm" and "Tickets" in the title.

But that also calls to question:

1 What if I make a bunch of custom critters that look like ducks, chickens, cows, goats and pigs.
    2. I take said custom critters, and put them in an outdoor map.
    3. I make the mission "defeat all"
    4. And call it "Your Ticket to the Animal Farm Revolt".

    Would that be banned?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Been there, done that, had it banned.

Actually it was "OLd McDonalds Farm" and it was a farm mission because it was on a "Farm". (Croatoa map)Apparently somebody didn't get the joke.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it's truly not a "ticket farm" and there are no other problems, escalate the ban to a GM. If they see that it's not a loot farm they can mark it so that it can't be banned by dumb people again.
  16. From the Release Notes:

    Mission Architect Notes

    * NCsoft reserves the right to ban or remove any mission at any time for any reason.

    Code of Conduct Reminders:

    * NCsoft reserves the right to ban any missions that contain any exploits that provide unintended statistical advantages.

    Localization

Flagged by server. During Test, half the German arcs were in English.
  18. What's supposed to be happening with a D'sC is that you get the regular mission complete bonus of XP and Influence. There's not supposed to be any Tickets with a D'sC.

In Beta, D'sC was bugged with obscenely huge and multiple mission complete bonuses for multi-mission arcs. Maybe MCBs were shut off completely to temporarily stop that from happening.
  19. When the window is maximized, you can't drag the edges, but the minimize button is visible in the jelly (title bar), so, you can click that to reduce it.

When the window is minimized, the edges can be dragged to shrink the window or expand it to fill up the screen. When you expand it that way, the jelly disappears, but the edge should still be grabbable.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
But the end of arc bonus is supposed to be in Tickets. That is a bug.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think that's right. Do you have a quote?
  21. Critters with Ninjitsu are hitting with a bonus from Hide even when they're not Hidden. That's why they consistently do so much damage, every attack is an Assassin Strike. Castle knows about it.
  22. This quote from pohsyb might help:

<ul type="square">There are two main spawn types in most missions. One is used for ambush, boss, patrol or destroy object details, the other is used for battle, rescue, escort, ally, or defend object details. (Some maps have additional spawntypes that are not overrideable by the MA).

Lets pretend you picked a map with 15 of the first type and 15 of the second type. If you wanted it to be empty until your trap is hatched, you could add a patrol detail with quantity 15 and and a battle detail with quantity 15. Next, add a collection detail and have both the patrol and battle trigger on completion of the collection.[/list]
In other words, you can force the normal stationary spawns of a map to not spawn by supplanting them with other objectives which 'use up' the stationary spawn points.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I found this on Paragon Wiki. I think Zombie_Man might have a guide or two...

    &lt; rummages &gt;

Yes, he made this reference for Unique Map Packs that explains what you're paying for

    [/ QUOTE ]

MacAallister was the original lister of ticket prices. I added background info on Tickets.

Scuzzbopper was the one who put together the picture portfolio of unique maps. However, there are unique maps which are unlockable and unique maps which come standard. That wiki page doesn't distinguish between them.

In this thread, I list the maps that come from the map packs. But since then, a few were pulled for re-education.

Talk to them and explain what you're trying to do and why it's not actually a farming mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A GM hasn't actually contacted me yet -- this was just a player complaint that got tagged on my mission. It doesn't give the name of the person who complained, either, so there's nobody to explain it to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you've gotten a complaint that included the word "farm," and your arc hasn't been banninated, it's likely that a GM already looked at it and agrees with your assessment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depending on their work load, there's a threshold to complaints. If you have 50 ratings and only one player flags it, it will probably never get a GMs notice (depending on the flag). If 10 people flag it, then you've just become required reading for a GM.
  25. pohsyb and I had a 'miscommunication.' We cleared it up:

HoF is an *average* (mean) rating of greater than 4 (so, let's say, 4.0001 or greater) and more than X votes. On Test, X = 100. On Live, I'm not sure what X equals, but the pre-release FAQ says 1,000 ratings.

So, if you had 1,000 votes of 4-stars, and one 5-star, then you'd make HoF. So, consider 4-star votes as simply not counting. If it's a good arc, you should not be getting any 2s or 1s. So, then it basically comes down to this: after 1,000 votes, did you get more 5 star ratings than 3 star ratings? If yes, you're HoF.

And before we say "1,000 or more votes is unreasonable," let's give this a month. Once people make their 3 arcs, they'll have nothing to do but play other people's arcs for days and months on end.
