Plus the Devs already said that PvE'ers wouldnt have to even deal with PvP if they didnt wish to; which appears to include going into a Zone that has PvP for any reason unless they 'reeeeeeally' wanted to. ^ Pretty much this
PvP is sitll broken, at least in my opinion. It's like comparing the single player of Dawn of War 2 to the multiplayer....they're the same game..with similar units...but it's TOTALLY different?!

It's wierd, and not so fun. Much like PvP at the moment.

    Essentialy:
Human is Base: Medium Offensive and Defensive
Nova: Enhances Damage Powers but Defense takes a hit.
Dwarf: Beefs up Defense, but Damage is lowered

All that, with perhaps some additional 'flavor' effects, depending on the form.

Anyhow, as said, nothing like this is *ever* gonna happen; not sure why we even speculate on it *haha*

Although actually making the forms mod the numbers on eac would be...interesting.

    Dynamic music

    Dynamic music is a fairly simple concept, and works on an 'Intensity' scale. A perfect example of this is used in the PS2 game, Transformers (the Armada version);

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0uAjWz_mD4

    The scale;

'Idle'; This is the base music. Nothings happening, really. It's calm, steady, it sets the scene.

'Potential'; Somethings looking like it could be happening. A mob has been spotted (more likely to work mechanics wise, it has come within a certain radius that will count as 'spotted' or 'within range').

'Confrontation'; Something is happening. Its not too major yet. Say a few minions, maybe an LT. Nothing too bad, but it's still a scrap.

'Major Conflict'; The peak. This isn't a confrontation, this is a whole mob or two, and you/the team are in the thick of it, busting heads and taking names. As far from idle as it can get.

'Boss theme'; A little add on, worthy of EB's and AV's, maybe tailored to the map, with unique versions for signatures like Positron, Serefina, Arbiter Sands, Nocturne, States and Recluse, etc.

Map specific; Outside of the main city zones, the music would be tied to the map itself. We already get certain entry music on things like Arachnos bases and Sewers and such, along those lines.
    Theme examples;

    Sewer
    Sewer/cave
    Office
    Office/cave
    Arachnos base 1
    Arachnos base 2
    Rikti Cave 1
    Troll Cave 1
    Orenbega

Etc. Obviously more than that, with variations for different map sets which are similar but not identical, to avoid it all being the same.

    Anyway, just examples and ideas.

Hell, being a Stalker, I assumed I had a target right on my forehead, with a neon sign above me saying "Kill me first, I'm squishy for a melee."
    Amen.
Hell to the no to the sugestion. Theres enough +preception floating around as it is. Sure, its not all even, and most certainly ain't fair. It's PvP! What do you expect? My tank, who can wade through x8 purple conning bosses and barely take a scratch (not that he can kill *them* too well, but thats what team mates are for ) gets absolutely mauled in PvP. These things happen.

...I now have an urge to go get my Claws/Ninja stalker and give him a run out...see if I can tear up some unsuspecting prey

New Rogue Isles system; Civilians dont get targetted with tab (Like Vault doors atm) but can be selected AND attacked.

Killing NPCs results in an Arachnos hit squad being sent after you, wanted for murder (read the background, Recluse does actually enforce the laws. Why do you think the Goldbrickers are always getting nabbed?)
Beating up the hit squad will result in more being sent, upgrading from, say, a few Wolf spiders to a Huntsman, his squad and some robotic back-up, moving steadily through to a whole Crab spider assault team, then a Bane Commando neutralisation unit, to the point of them sending in a Tarantula squadron, and then a Night Widow kill-team.

Etc, etc. Only targetted NPCs would be a trigger, not those caught in AoE. (Standard code rant?)

    /random idea
  15. Boosting the Arbiters sounds like a better idea. You already have Sands, who is quite a good example; cold, calculating, logical. Maybe different aspects that all mesh together.

Also, have you looked at the SIZE of them, at least the guys? They're as tall as a Council Cor Leonis, so I'd expect them to have quite an ammount of punch behind them.

Mind you, I was just wondering why Novas can't fire off the main "novas", Dawn Strike or Quasar. It's not like Dwarf Form doesn't get an extra attack, there's no reason to limit them to four. Although I'm guessing the potential of firing off two in a row is the issue.
I think that wouldn't be a case of 'standard code rant' as much as 'broken' Nova form damage levels plus a nuke?

Although I think I recall someone mention in another thread about how Kheld nukes are actually lower powered than, say, blaster nukes? Due to damage scale ot wahtnot.
Either whichway, anything that concerened Khelds to the level of an overhaul would require a lot of number and balance work right off the bat.
  17. A slightly half formed idea that is, to say the least, somewhat radical. I know even before I type it up what it will probably get a lot of 'hell no wtf' ing, which I can understand. It is, after all, just an idea.

Basically, the main hoo-ha people seem to have, myself included, with the Kheldians and shapeshifting is how its hard to slot both forms and human form powers effectively (if going Triform)
Human forms avoid this problem altogether, while sacrificing the the utility (and mez protection of dwarf form)
Twin-forms will partly avoid the slotting problem, while Tri-forms suffer the most from it.

    Now, the idea itself.
Scrap shapeshifting as it is now. That is to say, do away with the 'shapeshift only' powers. Dwarf and Nova attacks.

Instead of that, allow both forms access to the standard attacks. Im...not sure about the secondary set. Although it would lock off such things as heals, buffs etc, stacking the forms on top of shields and such would be...well, as it is now it would be broken. But if this would be a whole overhaul...Dwarf form I see being the easiest, making the number smaller, so that it stacks like Crab Spiders Fortification does with the auto-armour...
(Note, Im not trying to make it a Veat-Heat thing, its just the only example I can think of off the top of my head)

Animation wise, this would indeed be shed loads of work. There would need to be new Nova and Dwarf form versions of each attack. Yes, Nova's cant punch, etc. They do, however, have a rather large, sharp looking mouth, and a whiplash tail. They fire energy from both ends, so using either to attack seems plausible. As for AoEs, simply a blast from the middle seems to work.

This is a very sketchy idea, at present. Number wise, it would require a lot of rebalancing, animation wise a lot of work, and I get the feeling it would create a lot of aggro amongst current users.
Still, just an idea. I do still feel the HEATs need work, in one way or another. At the very least, give them a freaking endurance balance, pre-stamina levels are crippling. Amongst other things.
  18. The Coming Storm is a lie.
What ISN'T a lie is the dawn of the new age...the Robotic Age. Humanity will fall, and the world will be preserved, while a new robotic empire expands into the galaxy and the universe, transcending history and the world-

    Power Sink

    This makes me happy
  20. Stun in itself is a quite good power...hell, I nay-said things like Beanbag in AR and Taser in Devices, until I actually TRIED them and realised, hey, those LTs that were hurting me before are staggering around like sacks for me to wail on. My AR corr was laughing as the team demolished Spectral Demon Lords, let me tell you

But...its a stun...in a set whose secondary IS stun...its nonsensical. Now, if it did high enough mag stun to make a *Boss* stagger around for ages...hmm maybe.
Even so, I really think that needs changing, and TF needs to be made an AoE OR have its animation cut and damage output raised. Or make ET the AoE, and simply make TF animate faster.

Admittedly, I was running on some really great teams then.
On my tanker, I found this was often the problem. I would go to kill something, knowing that TF would one or nearly one shot them, then someone with faster attacks that did as much damage ran in and floored them.
If TF was an AoE that animated that slow, that'd be fine. But its too slow for what it does.

Bases ARE outadated...because they haven't recieved any TLC for too long. The editor is starting to show it's age, the item limit is starting to actually matter, and be a hinderance, the tech sections STILL have far fewer items than the Arcane sections do (Annoyance: Much) and...yeah. Bases need some updating.

But speak for yourself when you say people dont use them. A lot of people on Union and other servers disagree with you.
  24. I guess theres a number, especially given the zones are NOT the limit of Paragon. Given the zone map, theres a lot of city we don't see at all. Although I would guess at least one in each major zone, maybe two or three.
  25. Drop upkeep (Im sorry, this is MY evil lair, I built it and SHOT the guys who I stole the tech offa, alright?)
and make prestige drop in ammounts that make it viable for one person to have their own base/apartment, etc.

But, being honest, the base editor itself is in much need of an upgrade. Stability for one, placement for another....please much.
