Stalkers hide in PvP

sometimes when i PvP, stalkers come out of nowhere and suddenly kill me in almost no seconds. now i know this is what it was meant but it gets really annoying when you cant do anything about it or they are just picking on you/others. so i thought, why not make it so that every time a stalkers kills you you would get a small + perception bonus, to that stalker so if the stalker comes enough times, eventually you would get a fighting chance or something :I so what do you guys think?

I think "no."

If a Stalker is just relying on hide, a single small yellow inspiration means you can see them. Many ATs have enough built in +Perception in multiple sets to nullify that. And everybody has the option to take Tactics, or - alternately - team with someone with it.

You also have the option to do the *exact same thing.* Run a patrol in BB, get temporary stealth. Run it in SC, get invisibility that doesn't prevent you from attacking. Pick up Stealth. Get a stealth IO. Get an hour of stealth from an empowerment station. Have someone cast GI on you.

Plus... "Suddenly kill you in no seconds?" Sorry, but no - not even pre-I13. There's always time to move and react, avoiding that next strike, barring having about three or four of them surround you at once - and even then, depending on AT, you could well live.

I agree with this post. There's enough ways to counter stalkers already without having to completely neuter them beforehand.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

Here's a thought from a non-PVP player (me.) If Stalkers are so awesome in PVP, why don't you roll one up and PVP with it? I can pretty much guarantee you'll find out *all* the ways that Stalkers can be countered pretty quickly. Especially once you run into a player that has a clue how PVP works, like MacSkull or Memphis Bill.

There are 5 things you need to remember when dealing with Stalkers. I'll list them:

* W
* A
* S
* D
* Space

Sound familiar? Yeah, those are keys on your keyboard. Use them. A Stalker needs to get into melee range to get off an Assassin's Strike, and that gets a lot easier if you're standing still constantly. With the exception of some really good Stalkers (and I can probably count these on one hand, and I'm not one of them), the only way a Stalker will be able to AS you is if you stand still long enough for them to get into melee range to start AS, or if you get mezzed/KB'd. If you're moving, odds are you'll be a fair distance away from the Stalker by the time AS goes off (it's about a two-second period between when the Stalker clicks the button and when you get hit) which means they won't be able to use a follow-up attack in melee range.

When I'm playing a Stalker, I go after the easiest targets first because it is difficult to get an AS off on a moving target unless you are either really good at predicting where someone will land from a jump or you find a target locked in a long animation (Shout and Total Focus, for example). If you're not moving around, you're making my job that much easier. Finally, bring teammates. A solo Stalker is generally not a threat especially after the I13 PvP changes, but once they attack you, they drop out of hide and they may be easy pickings for your teammates if they're paying attention.

In short: pay attention, keep moving, and try to avoid situations where you paint a giant target on your back. While playing a Stalker is easier than it was before I13, it can still be a pain to get off an AS on a target if your team lacks someone to set up mez or KB spikes.

I'll also say you'll find out *just* how visible you are, without making some very tight build choices (finding a stealth IO, picking up the stealth pool, etc.)

Any time I took my Stalkers into any zone from Siren's on up - because I chose *not* to make those (being mostly a PVE build, I might at most have a stealth IO) it was easier to just assume I was plainly visible. Hell, being a Stalker, I assumed I had a target right on my forehead, with a neon sign above me saying "Kill me first, I'm squishy for a melee."

Amen.
Hell to the no to the sugestion. Theres enough +preception floating around as it is. Sure, its not all even, and most certainly ain't fair. It's PvP! What do you expect? My tank, who can wade through x8 purple conning bosses and barely take a scratch (not that he can kill *them* too well, but thats what team mates are for ) gets absolutely mauled in PvP. These things happen.

...I now have an urge to go get my Claws/Ninja stalker and give him a run out...see if I can tear up some unsuspecting prey

This. If you want to type Trash talk/RP/GGMATE you can do it in the base and be safe or you can run the risk of getting AS'd.

Reiterating what others have said: The best defense against a Stalker is your movement keys.

Or playing a villain and staying out of Warburg...
