Yes. But, um, well, I said it in the first reply to the thread. So....isn't what you said repeating me?
  2. I went through as mind/emp controller with little to no issue. (so, with the lack of teaming, I was actually a mind/Healing Aura controller....)
  3. You don't need to close City. Most of the time all you need to do is go back to the server list, then back into the character list. This refreshes your connection between the store and account databases, and fixes the issue almost every time.

If that doesn't work, log out and back in. (Have only had to do this once, ever. Out of many times getting store/account disconnects.)

If that doesn't work, close down and restart. (Have never needed to go this far.)

If that doesn't work, contact support. (Likewise.)

That's why I said to search for the abbreviation. Not all the abbreviations are articles, a lot of them are redirects. Redirects don't get listed in the definitions category.

Post on the forums or ask in chat for a VIP to help pay your rent. There's pretty much always someone willing.

Perhaps Norton and SpyBot are interfering with each other?
Spybot S&D is a system tweaking/anti-malware/bunch of stuff program. That message popup says that a value has been deleted from startup, and then lists Adobe Shockwave[cut off]. Nothing to do with the error the user is talking about. Nothing that would interfere with Norton, most of the time (unless the two were doing active scans at the same time, which isn't likely).

Also, MalWarebytes(?) is on the desktop at the top as well. Odd.
Smart users use multiple anti-[crap] programs because one may catch what another may miss.

He actually doesn't have his hand on the mouse very much. He plays almost entirely by keyboard. I have no idea how he does it. I'm constantly looking around with my mouse, and I have several common binds on button4 and button5 (plus chords). I have no idea.

Yeah. It's frikken awesome! It has two cup holder holes and everything. The couch is also full of sleepy-time voodoo...sit in it for too long and you fall asleep even if you've just done back-to-back energy drinks.
  9. From what I understand gleaned off of tidbits from Freedom beta, if a player is not eligible for a drop and their name comes up on the roll, it disappears into the ether.

Shards are a separate roll per person, per defeat. I'm almost 100% certain I saw a dev clarify that when they were introduced, but now I can't find any post on it (probably in long-since-locked-down beta forums).

And, in the process, shafting Rogues again; a Rogue on a team of heroes with a mission in "Dark Astoria" is unable to participate, as the hero and villain Ouroboros zones are still disjoint, and the redside Ouroboros zone provides no way to get to either Echo: Galaxy City or Echo: Dark Astoria.
Rogues can get to a mission in Echo: DA by way of Mission Teleport/Transport, so there *is* a way to do it, you just gotta pay for it. Which is stupid.
  11. ...weird...

Can you put it back to the original name and try the website again?
  12. Yes, the market is served up through PlaySpan. Check and see if it's listed anywhere in your hosts file, if that fixed it.

  15. Paypal.

Put your debit card/checking account in a paypal account and pay for it through there.

(Make sure you put serious restrictions on how much can be spent per month, since he'd have access to it through the Paragon Market interface in-game!)

Oh yeah, the original contents were ditched ages ago. Not even any nostalgia from it, cos half the crap in there was wrong anyway.
  17. At $5 per person, 100 people buying the first month, that's $500. (Please note I have deliberately lowballed this number...new shiny syndrome is not just afflicting the developers...tons of our players suffer from it also.)

If you say that web folks get paid $30/hr, that's nearly 17 man hours to do it...and again, that's a serious lowball. A bunch of the code is already done via the VIP flag, and all you have to do is massage it into fitting a different flag on the account.

PS; Why would you need FOUR web devs to massage a piece of code from doing one thing to doing a second fairly similar thing? That's like the construction crews I see all over the place with three dudes watching one guy work. Do not need all that!
  18. Send in a support petition and see if they can do anything about it on their end. It may be corrupted data on NCsoft's part.
  19. Hehe. Yeah, that's the "updatable manual" that they put out...and then never put updates out for. Good job, Cryptic.

It currently holds printouts of the zones from vidiotmaps and character builds from Mids'.

Considering by my suggestion, someone would be paying $60/yr, and really all that would be needed is to create another user group (add Premium+Forum to the existing user group list, which takes 1 to 15 minutes - we'll be generous and give them a full hour!) and another link between the accounts and forums (the forums already check to see if you subscribe, they can add a similar check for a forum license...and most of that code would already be written for the VIP check - this would take between one day and...let's be generous...a month of non-dedicated coding and testing).

At my suggested $5/mo, even if only 100 users buy it the first month, that's still enough to pay for it outright and then any repeat buyers are pretty much pure profit because those actively paying for a license (versus passively gaining a license through subscription) aren't going to jeopardize their use of it - and the thing's already paid for.

EDIT: I will say, though, that my faith in the NCsoft web team is pretty much nothing at this point, so I will put that as a point in favor of not doing it at all.

I cannot imagine the level of spaghetti code this game has. It kind of gives me the creepy crawlies.
Let me just emphasize this for ya, since you seem to have completely skipped it in your tirade.

Those few people who do buy the forum access license wouldn't really increase the moderation requirements by much... probably about commensurate to how much they pay monthly for the license. I'd put it at $5/mo, so mods could spend twenty minutes to half an hour extra, per month, per person, modding these schmoes... and the likelihood that someone who puts forth money SPECIFICALLY to access the forum would jeopardize their right to using that license is rather miniscule. The likelihood that someone who buys a forum license (not one who has it included "for free" with their subscription) would require more than half an hour A YEAR of moderation time is still rather small. I've gotten four finger-shakes in the six-plus years I've been here and collectively they've probably taken someone a minute, total, all four, to scold me.

It's $2/mo for your whole account, not one character. Alternately, if you have enough vet time they are unlocked via Reward Tokens (Reward Tokens are earned by subscribing and buying points). Subscribers (called VIP Players) get a free IO license as long as they are subscribed.

Another question, on a different character, if I visit the tailor it says my costume has invalid parts, and then my cape disappears. Do I have to redo that mission, and if so where is it? IIRC it's lv20 so my 39 shouldn't have any trouble.
Your cape's in there, things just got moved around and you have to re-find them.

Am I to understand I can't play my MM or Arachnos characters until I sub, even though I made them when I was a subscriber?
Unless you have enough vet time to unlock them via Reward Tokens, that is correct.
