actually I disagree...DB only offers knockdown for damage mitigation. So someone not use to/not knowing about the right IO's begins to become dependant on Dark Regen for survivability. 1 thousand cuts is an animation that if caught in a dark armor scrapper may find that they are dead before the animation is through.

Either sword set has the parry/da power that offers huge mitigation and would allow a dark armor scrapper to become less dependant upon dark regen for survival issues. With less use of dark regen your not going to be using nearly as much endurance.

Unless there was a major change to dual blades from the first weeks of use after its test launch I would say either of the sword sets are much easy to manage endurance wise than DB.

    AE Anonymous!

I thought about doing this...but honestly I don't play enough to spread the word around. Good jab gabby
  4. I keep seeing complaints about AE in broadcast...I just don't understand why someone doesn't start to organize "actual content" through the global channels like IBS or the Hami channel...hell those channels seem the ideal place to start old content archs for those who are not happy with AE.

Fire's resistence to everything but fire is pretty low...Energy has all around mid range res with the ability to cap energy. Not to mention at fire's conception it didn't have -rec resistence built into temp protection. Energy also has psy and endurance drain protection. Something not really that commonly found in a set.

Same reason we had zones with so little population from over the years. Dark Astoria, Boomtown, Terra Volta, Perez Park...they are rarely ever used. However they are there for those who want to use them.

I do believe that if new content came out that the AE's would loose a large amount of people currently in them...however because AE can always change, adapt, and be remade new people would end up flocking back to them. I use the AE for my lvl 50's because I don't really care about having 100 alts but rather 1 or 2 that I really enjoy playing. AE allows me to do that.

Eh the going rogue comment was more a possibility than anything else. Not really sure what that expansion actually entails; however if it is the same standard then I would have to argue that its not really new content and that coh is pretty much at a stand still that it has been for 3 or more now.

So thus again the real problem isn't AE but the lack of NEW CONTENT. AE is the new shiny people are using it. Its the way things always go with the new shiny it gets played to death and people who want to play the old busted are sol...until something new comes along and causes people to leave the AE (going rogue) I don't see it slowing down anytime soon.
  9. So wait the majority of the players run AE...so thus its killing the game? not seeing the corelation here.

All AE did was take the need for an anchor, decrease the wait time between pl sessions and allow people to get to the missions easier. Your not missing out of playing with anyone you would have teamed up with prior to AE.

What killed CoH is the lack of creativity, innovations, and overall expansion of the game itself. Not blaming the devs because they can only do so much on a pay roll, however the game itself hasn't really expanded (yes new tfs but honestly its just the same missions with a different story).
  10. So Well, or is it weii...did you happen to see the changes to electric armor

Since you've mentioned IO's, toggle popping shouldn't be a problem and you can fire/forget if you socket for end redux and increase your endurance. I fire and forget my 8 toggles, 9 with sprint.
actually I thought it was only in the low 20's like 24%...and I would say that energy is the achillies heel for dark armor unless you io them out to get lots of positional defense like des suggested

it was changed across the board according to the OP
  13. Its a mitigation tool because as they scatter they are not attacking as frequently or when they do attack it is at range which hurts less. The scatter caused by burn doesn't really take them out of the aoe effect of say spine burst for any real significant part of time. Plus with the extra damage from burn, quills, blazing aura, opening up with a throw spines and spines burst is going to level most things that aren't bosses anyhow.

Thats sounds pretty awesome...only thing is now with high psy resistence, a endmod power, a self heal, and overall good resitence, and with the changes to invuln, regen, the layered protection of wp, the damage capability of shields, and the changes that make SR extremely solid I can't help but to think that Dark Armor needs a little love.
  15. my question was this where was said tank during the pull of the AV. You said he was slow so he could have been loading in still making his way to the center when you pulled...thus you took on the tanking role that he wanted. Honestly I can't blame him for kicking you a little extreme probably but then again he did make the request and you failed to be considerate enough to allow him the honors; however we all know a granite tank should never have a problem with any av.
  16. I figure bo staff would use most of the katana animations...with the exception of gambler's cut and da. Then again people would complain that the bo was not ment to be held with the left hand dominate and that it was completly off basis to do this. So I guess that shelves the bo idea.
  17. Your build is going to hurt your progression through levels because you are forceing that stealth tper role into it too soon. Your aoe abilities are lacking at lvl 32 because you don't have death shroud or whirling sword. You won't have immobolize protection until lvl 30 because you didn't take combat jumping and pushed cloak of darkness off until lvl 30. I would advise differently there. I came up with a build that would push off your tp stealthing roll but eventually would get to it...personally I think build effectivness then add the little things I like with the build. Eventually I would respec (around lvl 32) and drop slice all together. You won't miss that attack much at all later on around lvl 50. This would probably allow you to squeeze in recall friend a bit earlier.

I only put in common IO's for this build with the other ios ones that I feel are necessary for you. Personally I would change a lot around slotting wise if I wanted a more defensive base build but if you can't afford the high end builds slotting for recharge and end is just as good.

    Dual Pistols....

I see its the beginning of the month again...Dual Pistol set request...check, Bo Staff set request...check, I guess the streetfighting set request would normally follow but since MA changes are in order I think that kind of silenced that one.
  19. I don't think cod really causes fuzz...rather it actually overides the nature of the characters body much like granite armor does for stone tanks. Being able to tone that down will probably just leave you less cloudy but none more visable.
  20. btw slax read the nerfing of i16...rolled my eyes at how many people thought it was true and truly weren't playing along.
  21. I've seen the spines, ss, and ma animation changes what I am curious about is dark armor changes...more specifically cloak of darkness. How much is going to change is it just a simple color or is cod actually going to be allowed for us to actually see our characters?
  22. Yeah I have contemplating on getting rid of the body epic pool since I really only use energy torrent...conserve power in those extreme situations were an ae mission ends with 10 items that spawn ambushes. However I could drop et and fa and still keep cp
  23. just got zet reenhanced a bit 35.5% aoe defense, 28-30 range defense, and 35% melee defense with one application of divine avalanche. Other defenses range from 25ish-28 for fire, cold, energy, negative energy.
  24. oh Kali I knew I shouldn't have done even a small list...I knew I would have left a few people out like Screwloose and others XD
  25. Now to what you really want to hear about...your guide.

In my opinion too much info is always better than not enough info. In most cases that I saw you did a very good job of explaining why you didn't like the power...stating many times that it was your opinion (such as in the instance of weave). As long as people read it and realize that the guide is based on your playstyle it should be of some use. Obviously you can't make a guide that covers every build possible...theres just too many options with IOs now. I mean I can think of 5 ways of slotting dark regen just off the top of my head...and all that means is all of them carry different benefits.

Its nice to see another person who just likes what dark armor can bring...its one of the rare sets that become stronger exponentially when ran together (stacking og or cof). When I first was leveling my kat/da. I actually ran into 3 other dark armor characters during that time (I think that was the total of DA scrappers on my server at that time)...we had every mob that we came into OG's range stunned. It was pretty easy times then.

I do disagree with your assestment of DA's capabilties though. I think if I wanted to I would be able to turn dark armor into a capable AV soloing machine. I soloed countess crey as an av prior to IO's so with IO's I should be capable of taking on the same feat now. Though it would require a very specific build and getting rid of some powers that I just have grown accustomed to having...ie either the body pool (energy torrent is the only reason I take this epic anymore) or hasten (which I use for slow protection mostly)...either way it would require me to pick up weave and remove 2 of my purple sets and reslot all my attacks for defensive bonuses. Its weird to say but my old io build was actually stronger than my current purpled out build because the purples offer no defensive bonuses.
