I wanted to use an Assault Bot as a second to last boss in one of my arcs, but he was stuck conning at pet level, which meant I had to go and build an EB that, while tough, wasn't really what I had in mind for the story.
This and the lack of ability to set the levels for mobs (1-15, 35-45, that sort of thing) is something that still bugs me. -
Trolls suddenly speak fluent english, and Jumpbots and Clockwork develop speech capability in newspaper/radio missions.
It's quite amusing at times, though. I cant remember any really good ones, but there have been those that make me chuckle
-
It could have been much, much worse.
Like how the mods on DeviantArt thought it would be hilarious to change everyones avatar pictures and signatures to either Twilight or Lady Gaga. Oh, and making it so you couldn't change it back.
I thought my damn account had been hacked.
So, yeah, this was quite funny. It was innocent fun that made people lol. dA, on the other hand, has just finalised my conviction that it is run by morons. -
I dont think adding more slots would help.
I DO think a Server List merge would help.
Why? Well, for a start there would be no more 'This side or that' feeling. NA vs EU, or whatever. There would also be no more confusion over buying a code/upgrade pack, only to find it only works on the other side.
In the past I was very much against it, possibly due to ingnorance and naivety
I think there may be a technical reason for it not happening atm...which is a shame. But, as far as I can make out (which admitedly isnt all that great) a server list merger would be the best way to help out, possibly on both sides. -

Empaths are very adaptable. So long as you keep a few break frees on you, it's very hard for them NOT to turn even a mediocre team into something that can get up some really good speed.
Empathy has one of most oddly useful buffs in game for late level blueside; Adrenalin Boost. Why odd? Well..I tend to save it instead of using it, when on a team with a Blaster with a nuke. Or a Kheldian with a nuke. Why? Because AB coutners nuke crash. Its that powerful, it beats the nukes -recovery debuff.
Fortitude slapped on pretty much anyone makes a difference, and the two auras let you blast with abandon.
Empaths aren't healers, and you're right, you DONT need a healer. Empaths are high grade buffers. I love playing my Empath/Psi fender with friends, because she turns tough characters into nigh unstoppable ones

"Hey everyone, we made a deal and Jack is back as Lead Dev!...What, why are you all stari- No, no, not the pitchforks, it was just a joke, please, no not the *crnch* ARGH! My Spleen!"

Quote:Ah, but they can't be Vigilante's, their a UN organisation that's at war with the Rikti Restructurists, who conveniently want to absorb/wipeout humanity. Both sides are not shown at their best in that conflict - but while Dietrich is a bit of a pain, Longbow are still more heroic than Vanguard, who are very much in Vigilante territory

That arc does have an awesome bit of humor in it though
The Rikti are using the Lost to bolster their ranks. It seems reasonable that VG use heroes and villains to suplement their own, neh?
I've given up answering the point of debate, here, because I can see it being a dead-heat. -
Quote:Wha...And replies like yours are why I, the OP (and others) prefer to have NICER things (aka more complete gaming experiences and more reliable information). Sorry if you prefer to settle for less. But hey, at least you won Dev brownie points. That should get you into closed beta real fast.
Gratz.
So, let me see if I'm getting this right...
You are complaining about the fact that Ultra Mode, a long asked for graphical upgrade to the entire game that will push high end rigs and keep the game up to scratch in the modern market, is, instead of being content you have to pay cash money for, being made into free content that everyone and anyone can access simply by paying their monthly sub fee?
And, at the same time complaining that other features we get for as free content updates are, somehow, all part of a plot to 'bait and switch' players, rather than just stuff that has been in the works anyway and simply hasn't been announced?
Not to mention the end-game content that they specifically said before it was announced that Poistron and his team were working on?
May I ask; Why? -
Theres a difference between something that is a nice little feature that stops you having to roll different alts, and a game-wide graphics upgrade that has an impact on the whole game and its appeal to the outside market.

Quote:Can you imagine just how much of an ungodly fire storm would get kicked up if Ultra Mode wasnt free content? Given how long people have been griping about the visuals on the game, and how the last change was five years ago (iirc)? You're spinning the facts a bit, my dear.
Before Issue 17 was announced, Ultra mode was announced as a major feature of the retail expansion pack, Going Rogue. When Issue 17 was announced, that was no longer the case. So off the retail pack came Ultra Mode and in its place comes the first level of the Incarnate system (with the other 9 levels to come at a late date).
Keep in mind this announcement comes in Spring 2010 when GR was provisionally scheduled for release (and is now pushed back to July). So this "swap out" of upcoming features is seemingly a last minute decision (and this is after 2+ years of development mind you) - but for what reason?
It made absolute sense to release it as free content. Thats probably the over-riding reason. Because it would require a Jackanism of game design to make people pay for it. -
Quote:I'm sure the stuff in bold should be a mandatory add on...It has ever been my understanding that it was fundamental to the design philosophy of this game that any team of the required size, featuring any ATs and any power sets, could successfully run any content that required a team, provided the team aren't all morons and don't work together well.
Either way, the LRSF and STF are designed as the hardest things in game. So far. I failed the first attempt at the LRSF, which I was annoyed about, but ONLY because we'd coped fine with everything up until the final mission, and we still lost even with Vengeanced Shivans, which suggests that something broke a little bit there. Numina going buff happy is my opinion. -
I'm pretty sure the QoL stuff coming with I17 and GR isn't 'last minute' by any means. Some of it like the inf email feature has been asked for since the game kicked off.

Quote:...Well, that just means that you assume that it isn't a normal whip, or the user isn't a normal person. Make someone like Blacklash/Whiplash from Marvel comic (and Iron Man 2 of course) who used a powered whip that rips though steel and so forth. Or make someone who hits hard enough with his own strength to do that. Or it's a steel cable or impervium chain instead of a normal whip. And when you get right down to it, we already have Martial Arts, and bare hands are hardly realistic weapons to use on robots and walking boulders.
It's comicbookland! Embrace the unrealism!
I think I just got pwned D= -
Quote:Oh child...Giggles, I had, but maybe you did not notice the subtle difference of what I am suggesting. My suggestion allows for both heroes and villains to operate within each other's domains with out changing your alignment. Changing your alignment thru GR would be practical some of the built in zone harrassment I suggested when visiting the other side.

Would love it if we could get rid of that huge 'burning' aura, too...Synapse doesn't have it, the lucky...
-
A whip attack set I can see happening, moreso than a control set. Whips themselves dont make particularly good weapons. The Demons one only gets away with it cos...y'know...it's burning hellfire?
-
Quote:A whole new element thing? I doubt it. It'd play havoc with defences and all that.Wonder if hellfire is going to be a new thing, or just fire+dark or just dark
also, A Set where each tier1 pet is different? oh dang, now I'm interested.
My guess it a combination of two other types. -
Quote:All the MM summons take exactly the same ammount for the summon animation and the pets to be 'free' and movable. The end part of bots animations, for example, is interuptable. As in, once they are 'ready' they will skip the animation and being moving/attacking etc. What's with this new team of devs and their obsession with long animations? it looks like resummoning fallen demons during combat is gonna take forever, that may be a little impractical. Other than that, the set looks pretty loaded with offense and damage, the "Fire Blast (or Melee)" version of Mastermind primaries, so to speak.
I'm looking forward to it *thumbs up*
I would figure Demons will do the same. -
