Hmm. Personally, I think that's quite cool. Not sure how much of a pain it would be to code, but...tis interesting.
I think you shoulder left purples outta it. They tend to make people see red

Quote:Someone wasn't playing a WarshadeYeah, Quantums, even without the unresistable damage, are just a pain in the ***. It's not like Kheldians are gods among men and utterly overpowered, so I don't see why a cheap-shot enemy has to exist for them.
But it's not just Voids and Quantums that bugged me as a Kheldian. Practically everything did. Lieutenants hit me like they were bosses, minions swarmed and overpowered me quickly and minor screw-ups put me in BIG trouble. And mind you, this is coming from someone with a multitude of Blasters, so I'm used to fragile. But with Blasters, I both had more punch AND was actually harder to kill, perplexingly. I guess if I'd stuck with my Kheldian to the 30s and 40s things would have turned around, but the slog through the lower and upper 20s was just SO BAD it wasn't worth it.
A Dominator I actually managed to tough out until 31 or 32, but with them it was a combination of lack of survivability and lack of damage that did me in. Yes, they have good damage mods, but their damage mods are worse than those of Blasters AND their defences are worse still. Control does help somewhat, but some things you can't control, other things you can't control for long and still other things you can't control quickly enough. The dude felt anaemic, so I ended up axing the concept.
The point is that any AT which is designed to go into melee and STAY in melee, as any Assault/Defence AT should be, is going to need decent defences. Believe it or not, amount of hit points counts for a LOT.
"Oh, hello Mr Quantum and friends, would you like to play? And by play I mean flay your miserable bodies with negative energy and then drain the stained little things you call souls out of your multilated corpses, while using them as bombs and pet food!! Bwahahahahahaa!
...*ahem* Yeah. I enjoy WS's too much XD -
Things like Longbow, who have multiple chest details (stealth and the FP logo), and Void Hunters who have different textures.

Quote:Because the EATs shoehorn you into a very narrow concept with a (mostly) fixed background and story. All I was really saying is:
If there's no balance problem....why don't we have it already?
And....if Epic ATs are already like this.....why do you want another AT that does the exact same thing?
Thats not always a bad thing. But you cant, for example, make a DP/SR gunslinger. Well, you sort of can, with massive IO abuse and mashing into a build. But its far from ideal or intuitive. It's also, really, one of the few gaps left that is halfway feasible. -
Quote:Not everyone plays the same or has the same reactions though.
Do I take Stamina or any version like it on every character? No. Almost every character. Yes.
Who do I skip it on? Warshades, Stalkers, some Masterminds.
Who do I wish I had it at level 1? Brutes, Scrappers, Blasters.
Would I like to keep fighting without recharging my powers or needing endurance? Yes.
Now would that make sense for game balance or would it be ridiculous? Both very true.Quote:it's also about as meaningful to point to one extreme of end usage (MA/SR) and say OMG SEE YOU NEED STAMINA as it is to point to the other (Claws/Regen) and say OMG SEE NOBODY NEEDS STAMINA.
And Swell is on point- there are people out there who solo Defenders and don't think themselves ill used, whereas I would literally go crazy if I tried it.
MA/SR, however, is an extreme case which, in my opinion anyway, needs a numbers re-run. I guess that MA/Regen or MA/Willpower, or a different set with /SR might not suffer so badly. But if there are combinations that can leave you lungless after one mob, something, surely, is up. And, no, Im not being daft with power use. Brawl is used a lot. Minor powers for finishing off near dead stuff. And still, every mob, same story.
Level 22 and 3 slotted SO stamina seems to be helping a lot, thankfully. -
Personally, I think the majority of the power pools need revising (as in a number tweak). Things like Stealth, Maneuver and Tactics, heck even Tough and Weave, that have a massive endurance cost to them. Yes, they provide benefits, but it still seems odd that a power that costs so much end give, comparitively, not as large a benefit.
I mean, it takes up a power pick, requires slotting, and has a massive endurance cost...
Surely power pools are something you should want to take, and have to decide to take them or primary/secondary powers? Limited power choice factors into it too, surely? -
Took out Ghost Widow during a bank mission with a team of friends, so they are still there.
-
Hm. Thats actaully impressive.
Maybe the percieved problem isn't stamina, as much as the enhancements, then? A lot of people these days (or so it gets touted a lot) and myself are simply not bothering with TOs or DOs and waiting until SOs, because the numbers, especially in TOs, suck so badly.
DOs I admit do make a difference, but if you;
-Dont use the market and simply sell your drops to the store
-Dont get run through a lot of high level sk'd content
-Dont transfer money from another char
then it's nigh on impossible to slot a character fully, at nearly any given level. Once you hit 30+ or thereabouts this stops being an issue. Which, ironically, is when you worry least about it anyway, because by that time you have the majority of your powers in place, heavier attacks, better shields/secondaries, etc etc.
I think that is what bugs me most; the levels running up to 22 often feel like running half-cocked. Maybe it's just me *shrug* -
Following the link on that page, it seems the Virtueverse domain has been renewed, so we should hopefully be able to expect it back up withint 72 hours or similar, looking at the site.
All good, hopefully

Alright, I've got a challenge for peeps.
Go and roll an MA/SR Scrapper. You are;
-Not allowed to transfer inf to it. You can only use inf generated on that toon.
-Restricted to TO/DO/SOs. The game is meant to be balanced around them, not IOs.
-Not allowed to take Stamina.
See how far you get. If you honestly can say you find that possible without devolving into a screaming mess, then I may have been proved wrong. *shrug* -

Really, they've been broken for coming up to 3 issues now. They used to work perfectly. Now I can't remember the time when I had no need to curse at them for refusing to insert a line despite me having just hit return, and when backspace actually worked to correct that. Now it's a just a moldering pile, sat in the ID window.
Please can we get this fixed? Its a small QoL thing, but an important one, imo. -
Quote:Or they could simply not slot end red? That'd work too.Exactly! And thus why they WANT Fitness. Again, not a NEED. They WANT it.
And yes, they're normally fit. So they take the FITNESS pool. But not taking it, lets them do their concepts of not being fit.
Meh. I personally just hate how Fitness is handled. Its three power slots I would much, much rather use on other powers, any powers. But I have to take them to avoid moving at the pace of a snail and permanantly having to rest, which, for me, is the epitome of Not Fun. -

with veats (i dont mention heats, purely because veats have mez protection, while heats need to switch to drawf) already proving you can be ranged/defense and not be a tankmage, i fail to see how this at would be a tank mage.
I have a 50 blaster. I'm working on my second one now. Staying at range is never all that easy outside of hovering. Enemies keep attacking and are able to run in on me, if i keep attacking.
I find my blaster in melee way more than i think a blaster should be in melee. I see alot of blasters get into this situation as well, more so if they lack hover. -
Quote:Ahh, that makes more sense. Understood =] Poison is fairly decent, though. ST debuffs for the most part, but strong ones.Well, that was probably a fumble on my part. I skipped Poison and Poison has a resurrect power, but if I inferred they were connected, I misled you. I've never really had a concept that could use Poison as a secondary, as I don't have too many Masterminds in general, owing to their limited primaries. The closest I cane to taking it was on my Necromancer (fairly by-the-book), and I still went with Dark Miasma for him simply because I'd already written a three-chapter story for him that relied heavily on curses and black magic, so Dark was the obvious choice. Beyond that, I have a techno-soldier dude, a ninja-wizard (that is, Ninja/Storm), a robotics dude (Bots/FF), a kind of occult gang leader (again, Thugs/Dark) and I think that's about it. Right now I'm looking at a Demons/Thermal Mastermind, so I just never had a reason to take it. Poison, Trick Arrow and I think Pain are things I have yet to even consider using, but maybe in time. We'll see.
An ally rez may have figured into my decision-making process, but I didn't skip a set because of it. If that were the case, I wouldn't have touched Forcefields or Dark Armour with a 10-foot pole, thanks to the sucker traps that are Repulsion Field and Cloak of Fear, respectively. Skipping the rez, at least for my current mentality, isn't that big a deal, just so long as I don't end up taking heat for it. -

Quote:Malta 'webbing over jacket' option, plzkthnx. It bugs me so damn much that we cannot get the webbing over militray jacket that the likes of Malta and Mercs pets have. I mean...why?
- Vazhilok Reaper/Mortificator face masks
- Malta Backpacks
- For that matter, Embalmed Abomination/Embalmed Cadaver backpacks

You...
Wait, you WHAT? Ignored Poison?
Sam....Sam, Sam, Sam...Poison has a grand total of ONE power that is not useable on pets. The others are things that work on pets, are debuffs, one is even a major pet buff that turns your henchman into a walking de-buff bot.
Rezzes are the only things that dont work on pets. Thats one power. If you literally never team at all, fair doos for not taking it. You might get the odd grumble, but so long as you are managing to throw out damage and debuffs/buffs, then it shouldnt be a major issue.
On the whole, though, I can say that rezzes are useful. Even ones like Ressurect, with no shiny secondary effect. Power of the Phoenix is basically a rez-nuke, Howling Twilight is a massive stun and a slow to boot...You dont *have* to slot them. Just put a second slot and two recharge red slots in them, and away you go. -
Hmm...If your interested, I've got an NPC character that could be useful for that, introduced in the fiction work I did for Jen Kerringer a while ago. That could be a danger that would still be combattable by more normal characters.
Either way, im up for decent plot stuff. -
Quote:To shamelessly use a turn of phrase from BillZBubba;Just as a thought exercise:
The Devs introduce "PvP Merits".
Defeat a player of equal or higher level to earn one.
Shivans and Nukes cost 10 PvP merits each, and are no longer available the old way.
What would be your (the generic 'your') reaction?
Personally, I have a number of conflicting but interesting thoughts from this scenario.
I don't posses enough Hell No to fully answer that.
That basically means that anyone wanting to try and get Shivans and Nukes EU side is screwed, unless they get friends to log in on the other side to be killed for the merits. Which basically makes the 'Merits' a sort of farm token. Which gets a major /Unsigned to me -
Quote:For the most part, this doesn't address so lo play, on ATs like Blasters, Scrappers, Brutes, and those who more readily need Stamina to even function. (Although arguably, yes, sets that are toggle-debuff heavy also need it)Radiation Emission, Cold Domination, Kinetics and Empathy all have AoE or otherwise readily available +recovery or +end powers. Pain Domination also has +recovery but it's limited to a single target most of the time. -Res and +Dam can also be considered friendly to your DPE, so you can attack less and still be efficient.
This is also relying heavily on teams. If you dont want to team/cant find a team and end up soloing, the lack of stamina can very quickly become noticeable. Anyone who has played an MA/SR scrapper pre-20 will know just how nasty it can get (you usually end up resting every other mob, and only because Rest recharges slowly)
Another suggestion would be to make Rest a true toggle with a shorter recharge. Ironically enough, the levels you need it most are the levels it recharges fastest. Also, Rest is a tool that you use cautiously anyway, due to the near insta-death of being hit while Resting.
It also seems a bit daft; You have to, by the power of some mythical force, wait before you are allowed to get your breath back? Hmm. -
Quote:And theres a reason for that to. Because people prefer to move at a comfortable speed, because it's more fun. Having to Rest after every fight is boring. Having to trade inspirations around when Rest isnt recharged is boring. Pre-20 missions run ok, because most people dont have stamina or a clone yet, and the enemies are at the sort of level where they are easy enough to deal with. It's not a NEED power.
It's a WANT power.
You can do anything in this game without the use of Stamina. The whole team can be lacking in +END means power wise, and do ANYTHING in this game.
It's called REST, ENDRED, and +END Inspirations.
Stamina is a WANT power, because people WANT to move at a faster pace. People WANT to hurry along.
Has anyone ever looked at it like this (using a recent comment made in another thread)...
Superheroes are usually portrayed as OMG HOT (men and women) when in reality it's not to farfetched. Why isn't it farfetched? Look at what they do. They maintain constant FITNESS.
If your hero isn't the type to maintain constant FITNESS (ie skip it), then you're more likely to need to REST or find some INSPIRATION to keep going.
Around and after 20, you start having mroe toggles to run/more power to use/enemies that require more end consumption. There is, is you dont take Stamina or a clone, no relative growth to encompass that.
And, if super-fit is the designated 'Norm' for super heroes or just regular heroes, doesnt that make it even wierder that you have to effectively 'waste' a power pool and three powers on just basic effectiveness? On just being able to not have to rest after ever mob/other mob, which isn't excatly super-heroic?
(Not trying to be arkward, just presenting the other side of the discussion
)
