I think it's talking more about player created content and the Guest Authors, the latter being the focus.

And here, I thought the thread's title was sarcastic. I was looking forward to replying to a rambling, rage-fueled OP with some sort of snarky picture.
Still, good to hear you got things sorted out!

Even the EU servers got mentioned

Although 'All at Max capacity'? Come on, David, Union hit yellow for the first time I've ever seen, but not red
Still, publicity is a good thing. Nice to see more coverage. -
Agreed. I never liked the tether mechanic when it was introduced in Beta. A much, MUCH better idea would be 'Anti-aggro' zones around vulnerable areas, like Trainers, stores, contacts etc. Something that hits mobs with a -9999% perception auto or something, anything that makes them head directly back to their spawn with no other effects.
But tethering is a poor substitute for Police Drones when it actively hampers normal gameplay. -
Quote:According to whom? Last official word I heard was that 'It's being worked on, and it's also quite hard to do so it works well, so it may take a while.'If we're making pie-in-the-sky suggestions, it'd be kind of cool if instead of pet customization (since that's apparently never going to happen)-
Never that it was impossible. Just enough so that we don't have blue smurf zombies. -
Quote:Yeah, because it doesn't actually gel that well with the rest of the set, if ya think about it. If they were all Sky Raider-esque mercs, then yeah, that'd work. As it is? An all-purpose veteran with a rocket launcher slung over his shoulder, custom-job gun that looks like it should be banned by UN treaty, and a 'Born to Kill' aura that doesn't need writing down. He just looks like trouble.You know... If the Commando actually had a minigun, I might actually enjoy the set a lot more

What I'm surprised about, though, is that you're the guy who's suggested power armour several times over and yet you gloss over my suggestion to make him a PPD Swat style power armour soldier with arm-mounted cannons? Duuude!

Problem is, the current one doesn't look all that cool. Assault Bot? The biggest one, cannon-arms and a freaking rocket launcher mounted on each shoulder. Lich? Big, cloaked, skeletal thingy of nastiness. Demon Prince? Big. Cold. Freaking big. Thugs? The fuly upgraded Bruiser looks perfectly in place and also pretty badass.
Oni and Commando are the two I don't like, simply looks wise. They just don't have enough umph.
Also Sam, I'd rather we got the PPD armour with arm mounted guns than yet another NPC get it to wave in our faces

I have one final thing to say about playing second string to Signature Heroes/Villains;

Say hello to Reason, foo! -
Quote:They should make the Commando more like Heavy Weapons Guy from Team Fortress 2. Giant minigun, Cone fear attack of 'Cry some moar!' and a self heal; Sandvhich.As far as Mercenaries go, they are BEYOND BORING. The only thing that saves them is that I love the sound of gunfire and Mercenaries feel like they're firing guns CONSTANTLY. But as far as final henchmen go, the Commando is easily the most boring. All he is is just another guy (with a frankengun, no less) and nothing more. I really don't know what you could add for what is effectively soldiers, but I'd have liked something like a PPD shell or some such. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando is fun as a reference, but as far as "the big guy" goes, it's sorely lacking.
I know, I know, © and all
but still. Who doesn't love giant miniguns? Called Sascha?

Quote:My Hard-capped S/L Invuln Tanker dissaproves of youI sort of agree in that I've always thought Tough and Weave should offer far greater benefit to the soft targets than the hard. To me, a Tanker needing to take Tough/Weave is as ridiculous a notion as Superman wearing a kevlar vest.
90% Res to those two all the time? I'll pay the endurance cost and like it, thanks.

This could, in theory, explain Infernal. There are an infinite number of "Infernal Earth" dimensions out there, all of them identical. We got an Infernal from one, Praetoria got an Infernal from another, and if we travel to still another "Infernal Earth," we'll probably find Infernal still there with good probability.
Gods-freaking-damnit, someone get Manticore in here, stat! This is causing my Cerebral Core to glitch out... -
Quote:...I....wait, what?There's no reason why there can't be alternate dimensions 'close' enough to the Rikti that they are for all intents and purposes identical to 'our' Rikti, or a demonic dimension almost indistinguishable from our Infernal's home dimension, where he escaped to Praetoria instead of Primal Earth.
This just makes my brain hurt.
Seriously, there are no 'Our Rikti' and 'Their Rikti'
I'll use one of my own characters as an example, because I was trying to work out wether a Praetorian version of him would actually exist. The answer was yes, because;
1) He's from the same universe/dimension as Primal Earth. He's a space traveler, not a dimension hopper. While I chose not to have a Praetorian version, due to that version never crash landing on Earth, there is still room for another one in that universe.
2) Had he come from another Dimension, say 'Tech Earth', akin to 'Rikti Earth' or 'Preatorian Earth', then there would have been no question of it. That would require there being two actual versions of him, which there aren't.
Basically, there are;
-Primal Earth (Our Earth) Dimension/Universe
-Rikti Earth
-Praetorian Earth
-5th Column Earth
-Council Earth
-Shadow Earth (where Requiem won)
-Nemesis Earth (where Nemesis won)
-Infernals Dimension
-Unlisted others, multiples of
Now, you can have multiple versions of characters, but you can only have a maximum of one from each dimension, if that. For example, Marcus Cole could exist on any Earth. We've seen that is possible;
-Primal = Statesman
-Praetoria = Tyrant
-5th = Reichsman
Heck, there could even be a Rikti Marcus Cole. It could even be;
-Rikti = Hro' Dtohz
Ergo, however, the cannot be 'their' Rikti. It would be the same Rikti. It would be Rikti Earth invading Praetorian Earth. In the same way that Rikti Earth invaded Primal Earth. Not Rikti Earth2 invading Praetoria. -
We'll just let you run number balance on an entire game, shall we? Since you're obviously so good at it yourself.

OnTopic;
Fire/Fire Blaster. Sorry, Fire/Fire/Fire. Stuff just melts. And it doesn't even matter if you die when you hit 47. Because then defeat has just become an extra step in the attack chain. They either die, or die after you hit them with Rise of the Phoenix.
So much fun, and I'm only just 32. -
Quote:Invalid comparison. The Rikti invaded Primal Earth because Nemesis ticked them off (in canon, the First Rikti War was in 2002). In Praetoria, Gerhardt Eisenstadt died of old age over a hundred years ago: without becoming the Prussian Prince of Automatons, without becoming Emperor of Americas, long before Emperor Cole was even born, and certainly before having the opportunity to tick off extradimensional invaders..
Rikti Earth --Invasion--> Primal Earth<--Invasion--Praetorian Earth
Rikti Earth <--No Invasion-->Praetorian Earth
Rikti, Primal and Praetorian Earth are all seperate dimensions. In theory, it would be possible for the Rikti to also invade Praetoria, or vice versa. However, it hasn't happened.
Hoever;
Infernal Earth--Infernal-->Primal Earth --No Infernal--> Praetorian Earth
By all accounts of the Canon, there is only one Lilitu, one Infernal, as they are both from another dimension. The 'world where demon binding is common practice'. Ergo, there cannot be a Praetorian Infernal, and I would be very surprised if he hadn't been retconned out to make up for this conflict and contradiction. As, let's face it, old Praetoria was a shoddy 'evil twin' dimension when Jack built it. -

Quote:I want this on my Bots/Traps MM though!I keep thinking this should be the nuke of the theoretical Pulse Rifle (Mastermind variant) powerset that gets tossed around from time to time.
He has a freaking Orbital Railcannon that needs using! (Other than Warburg nukes which stand in for now)

Quote:See, I disagree with that. While people that don't take Stamina are more likely than not a minority, I'd wager that the balance of those who take and don't take Hasten would be fairly even. Same as Leadership pool, fighting pool, etc.I've been speculating on what the player base will crown as the new "you must have this or you're gimped" powers. The Leadership pool is one possibility.
Most likely, I think, is Hasten, which is already common anyway.
I also think there's a strong possibility that people will come to expect Superspeed and Stealth, which would stack to full invisibility, on anyone joining a Task Force, to facilitate speed runs. (This will also contribute to something I can't stand- running ahead to the end of the mission without telling anyone and/or wiping out all the enemies before the non-speedsters get there.)
I think it's a bit naiive to believe that we'll see more build variety, though. Years of experience have shown that people won't go for variety when optimum performance (even if it isn't that much better than average) requires something specific.
Stamina is a 'take it for your own sake' power. To basically stop your endurance from sucking, period. With exceptions being Regen, Willpower or Empaths. While people may take certain powers for concept, most will still take Stamina simply to avoid the PITA that is running out of endurance every other damn fight. -
I like that a lot. I was going to suggest flying minions, but I got ninja'd

The only other suggestion I'd make is to have the parasites be a power that is used not on live enemies, but on bodies. Because otherwise it'll be rather unreliable and potentially wasted as a power, which is a shame 'cos the concepts cool. Also, wether the target is simply unconcscious or actually dead, either way they can no longer resist the parasites, making them perfect prey

Quote:Spitting acid and various nasty lethal/toxic claw and pincer attacks would be neat. And maybe sacrificing a power to give them +1 attack and some in-built resistance per tier upgrade?+Rep for you! Bigtime!

Yeah, I kind of figured. I was actually thinking of something along the lines of the Zerglings, where you get two for every egg that hatches, so you'd have an army with you, but I guess that's out of the question on grounds of basic functionality.
Well, in that case, let's go with basic Jaeger-sized fighters with a few simple attacks. I'm not sure what I want to copy in terms of powers, but I guess I'll just have to reexamine some of the existing henchmen for powers. I still want to make these more sturdy as they are upgraded, however. -
