Quote:On one hand, okay, given the way people sometimes tend to roleplay somewhat, they might have reservations, but the arguments about being a traitor are really non-issues in my (possibly oversimplified) vision. IF a villain has gone through changes that eventually have the effect that it becomes apparent he is not a bad guy (going by the MM principle), who's to say he is a traitor? I'd say he is reformed. Not a bad guy, but a good guy who's seen the error of his ways. There is a difference between a hero and villain working together for a common goal and working together with what basically are traitors.
I'm afraid that my MM won't be allowed to team because he has bots and forcefields and would be a reformed villain. I don't know where the "fear" is coming from...I just can see it happening with some people's strict rule to teaming.
Same thing the other way, but obviously that would mean rejoycing by villains that yet another goody is turned to the dark side. Still the same principle applies though.
You ran the tunnel, somewhere along the way it had a fork, but whichever end you crawl out of, it's the one that was meant for you.
I honestly fail to see why people would, even from a roleplay stance, not allow reformed heroes or villains on their teams. I CAN see those reasons when applied to ITF's though, since even a common goal means you'd essentially side with the wrong ones. No trials laid out, no road travelled, just a different door leading to the zone. Yeah, that would fit better (and has happened to me as well twice over time when on my Brute with 7 heroes shouting in bc 'lf1 more for ITF', ignoring the vills around..) -
Quote:So... how are those mixed ITF's ran then?I'm worried about people not wanting to have reformed villains or rogue heroes in their team.(either because of RP reasons or powersets)
Though I admit sometimes those are built out of who and what's there, I think those who have been in such ITF's won't mind teaming reformed superbeings. -
My twelve year old would say his dad rocks. If however he manages to make me a grandfather within the next six years minimum, he'll face a very grumpy fortythree year old grandfather
So he be 12 (and on his way to 21 month vet) and me be 37 now (and uhm, ehr.. forgot my vet thingies lol.. 45 now I think..) -

I have read this with the biggest smile on my face. You have shown that age ratings while appropriate are not in need when parents join forces with their offspring. Wonderful!
And she has done well (nevermind her teacher's reaction, though I'd love to have seen that face heh).
My son's english flourished once he started playing the game. Where his grammar was more or less non-existent (we're dutch by the way), it took him just weeks to grow and be able to talk in team. At the moment his only draback is typing speed, so we more or less train that now by actually talking game ingame. It can be awkward at times, but a lot of fun too. Especially when he pulls stuff like standing there doing absolutely nothing (while being thehealer mind you..) to then pop into chat as I'm about to faceplant "Pretty cool, we haven't died once so far."
I can only then turn to him and smile at those moments
Keep everyone in the know of your adventures, I love reading this, it makes my day entirely!

Quote:I have run several missions set for +1, team of 4 solo (radio) and received a crapload of inspirations (Council are good for something) and some recipes, mostly your garden variety damage, healing and such.Even if these phantom teammates did exist, the chance to get a drop doesn't change depending on your team size, does it?
Personally, I would be wary of self-affirming theories.
I then ran another council mission on the same setting, but having logged in two of my other characters as well. It dramatically changed the droprate, where my main character now received some actual valuable recipes, but a lot LESS inspirations. It seemed as though the inspirations have some other mystical way of telling how many people are actually in the mish than recipes. But the fact remains that the drop of recipes went up in that mission, or at least the quality of the drops, while inspirations were spread equally among characters on the map.
I can't say if this holds true, I have not ran this extensively, it's this observation for now for me. -
What?
Because something inherently belonging to the male species was implied?
You can be one, just the entire context of the word then switches..
Of course, if you are just referring to the fact that a rude comment makes people replying rude.. yeah, pretty much true, seemed off alright
Quote:You liar!
A late reply to the original post.
So, yes, maybe numbers have gone down since 2007 or since the start of the game. Looks to me like that is pretty natural thing.
There is perhaps a possibility that at one point the base game of CoX could become free, with boosters applied meaning little money spent for added content. Adding GR in then though meaning that you would have to subscribe. Adding in other possible major updates in for monthly payment too (some Back to the Future FOR REAL stuff anyone? I want to fight dinosaurs! Or Neanderthals that aren't green!).
It would not be a strange move to be honest, not with the micro payments option in place already. It could be expanded on. Pay for Play, when you want to up your game... -

Quote:That sums it up.Devs: Doing their best
All your *freem* headaches: are still belong to you
I personally think I16 meant they did more. They did an excellent job!
My son and I team, where he is by now probably on his 87th character (altoholic much?) so he never really gets into higher levels. He can now team with me and be alted 49 everywhere in zone. We can run his contacts without trouble, the team just resets to his level then.
Devs deserve a holiday. After GR though -

The tool was faulty alright, no doubt about it, they just should have pulled something else in the meantime though instead of leave it open. They should have cut off the SSK in there, dropped tickets altogether, or best of all perhaps, drop inf gain entirely until it was as it is now. But it was left as is.
As for the rapid experience, if the character went from naught to fifty in six hours, yeah. That's pretty fast. Unless we're talking about cars.
But those people that actually stood there for hours on end trying to get into a team, they spent more than 6 hours... in a way... and slipped through the holes in the net. Still, while hobbled, they did get that XP in about 6 hours. They just took longer to use those 6 hours.. -
If I came across as combative, that was not at all the intention, so my apologies for that.
And while I agree that there is a fine line between farming and exploiting, many people will not enjoy seeing their efforts grouped in the same filing cabinet as E for Exploit.
I myself will occasionally go out of my way to a badge, but I do so to unlock things, like weapons, or obtain an accolade. Spending an evening taking out overseers in Firebase Zulu doesn't sound like exploiting to me. So it shouldn't be held close to it either. But that's an opinion.
I do think we're on the same page, I just wanted to make sure that you weren't calling the two the same thing, that's all. And you didn't judging from your explanation. -
Quote:Okay, in all fairness.. there was no exploiting in levelling this fast. The tool released gave the tools to make missions that people could then use to level insanely fast. So... to a degree I agree with Nethergoat. There was no exploiting. Not in that respect. And no, you can not call an MA n00b an exploiter, they're basically overpowered level 1 characters. Sadly enough..Why is it I have seen Nethergoat in thread after thread defending MA. The fact of the matter is the MA was being used to PL new players to 50 extremly quickly. These new players know nothing about the game and the would subject their lack of knowledge on everyone else. This is something that I am sure everyone had to deal with at least once. So stop trying to deny it. It just makes you sound silly. MA had some serious flaws in it and a large portion of the community noticed it.
Like I said, in that respect there was no exploiting. There was in another way however and I think that may be why some people get so worked up every time the PL's in MA get mentioned.
I feel that those people that would start a team on their 50's and pull in a bunch of people ONLY to get 8-person spawns so THEY could grab a lot of cash and tickets were exploiting.
Not on the game. As I said, that's now history and was just a tool that allowed insane missions to be created.
The exploiting here was the exploiting of new players, making them into AE n00bz, MA neWbz or whatever name you wish to give.
The saddest thing though is that someone who is new to the game already has more knowledge than the others with at least one 50 (judging from the 40 WS). -

Quote:I really do hope you are not implying that farming equals exploiting. That's great. I'm really glad that Paragon Devs have chosen to address the farming issues for badges by making it so that you can earn more of them through regular play. Not only are people less likely to use exploits to earn badges, but they can earn the badges they want in a reasonable amount of time rather than farming for months and months.
While I am not in the habit of speaking for farming, when it comes to badges... Seriously, 1000 Rikti monkeys, run around one certain mission in Ouro for a while or visit the island and you can get that one done in no time at all. That would constitute farming them.
Exploiting is maliciously abusing a flaw in the game without reporting said flaw.
There is a difference. Do not mix those words, especially when it comes to badges. People put a LOT of effort in to obtain badges, so (unintentionally) calling them exploiters seems awkward at best.. -
One of the things I'd very much like to see is the ability to choose gender in MM pets in those cases where gender can apply (everything but robots really..) so you can be a lady MM with lady thugs. It just makes sense to me really.
I do realize though that adding choices in gender for pets AND colors AND different looks would be another grand change to the cossie creator.
While hoping it will come, I decided not to hold my breath. It won't last long enough, as I think it's a good ways off..
Would be nice though.. -

Quote:My sincere apologies!Woah woah! Not so much at one time. Gotta save some of that story for later.
I should have realized that the abundance of information might be a tad much for most to comprehend.
I shall try to be a wee more precise in the reasoning behind my (obviously well thought out) nickname in the forums we are currently inhabiting.
Once, when I was a young lad, I bought a marvellous machine for the time for an amount of money that would now seem insane. In fact it was an insane amount of money back then already. It was also the very first machine that I used to go out and visit BBS's with. Ah, the days where you would take hours to download zipped images of DOOM disks, only to find you had to redownload disk 3 again after two hours...
I had a handle then that I honestly don't recall, it was silly though.
Then came better machines, better internetconnections (that by the way still cut you off from the rest of the world unless you had two phonelines in the house or ISDN) and I became more aware of the world around us. Internet Explorer in it's earliest form was awesome, opening a page and waiting three minutes for 256 color images to show, life was grand. But I was not alone out there. The first realization that my imagination was somewhat lacking started to show on opening forums (which in its proper form should be called fora, but that's besides the point) where I would want to post a reply. Names were taken, and not being able to think of proper original names, I was at a loss. I did however keep the strength to not turn to drugs!
At one point internet became a constant. Cable internet and ADSL opened the world to all and insane speeds came about. I entered the world of MMO's with Anarchy Online, a brand new experience for tall me and I adopted the name Oldscotch in there. A name that was not in use and was derived from the presence of a bottle of the stuff sitting next to me on the table. Eventually tired of people calling me old (even though I do realize that time does not halt, even for me) I left that name behind and became something different. It became Pinkfreak. I shall not explain the reasoning behind that one, having thought it up being intoxicated by the live version of my old nickname. Having had a lot comments on that name and being hit on occasionally by people thinking the pink meant I'd be a girl (mhehehe) it became time for something new. A new game came by and suddenly my global was formed after after my first ever 50 villain. Yes, the game was City of Villains and in it, I was a mad woman mastermind commanding the dead. Obviously with the pink in the back of my mind, I didn't want to go there again.
So there I was. Sitting. Staring at a screen, hands hovering over a keyboard as I tried to think of a fitting forumhandle.
I drew a blank. The few enlightened moments I encountered apparently came about because the person that was in the light had stepped away, along with the name that hovered there.
Time passed by. Cobwebs started forming between fingers, making me look like a big fish type figure. But that was taken already. All that swarmed through my mind, by now at wee hours in the night, was an echoing 'Eh' and even that was impossible.
In a stroke of genius or cafein induced moment of wisdom I realized that underscores were characters. And lo and behold, it worked!
So there.. not much of a story I'll admit, but that's more or less the short version of my previous post about my handle..

They be fugly.. -
Quote:You are in luck though Blue, apparently there are no american blue rabbitsMeans there's a doppelgänger of you around here Shock, and he/she has a prior registration date from yours which means you get stuck with the EU suffix. Devs say it's only temporary and will soon™ be addressed. Until then, you'll have to bear with it.
Have to say though, EU would have been okay to have.
NA reminds me too much of the abbreviation of the building I work in
I'm just afraid of what will happen with everyone being able to make pic-sigs now.. -
Damn O_o
You have someone's head in your avatar window thingy.. And someone is trying to rip his jaw off! That's some scary stuff.. -
