  2. I'd like to propose a new Item for the next PvP-Issues draft: (whenever it comes around again)

Poistional DEFENSE is way too Binary currently. Just like Confusion is currently too binary but is being Addressed in the next patch. Positional defense is obviously a lot more Complicated and can't be fixed with Suppression. But it will still be a major source of problems should Defense ever be addressed in-general.

I have no idea how to address it universally, but one conclusion I believe a lot of us could agree on is that +DEF to specific damage types SHOULD be more effective than most positional DEF buffs. When it's not, that's when you end up with gank Squads of players all popping Lucks, Vengeance, "Elude in Siren's", and whatever else is "Cheezy" and easily exploitable. This would go Hand-in-Hand with stopping "Pill Popping" in general if everytime you popped more than a couple Inspirations... the next buff from each one after that would only give +<attribute> to 1 random damage type and only 5% to Positional DEF. (again, just an Example).

One way to Diversify Positional powers themselves, would be to apply TWO kinds of positional Damage type to every Attack that can have up to 2, while also Calculating Positonal DEF the old way where the weakest value was sometimes the first one calculated and used. And then remove atleast one Position +DEF type from powerpools and secondary powers that currently just grant equal amounts of +DEF to all 3 positions. ..While also making sure those mind/Psy control powers that have NO position types; finally get atleast 1 position type added to them.

PS: Completely different Tangent... but Blasters currently have a 175% DEF Cap and a 75% RES cap. This is NOT balanced for Team-PvP. [u]The Devs claim that PvP is balanced for Teams[u], but that remains a BIG FAT LIE so long as the absolute highest damage AT in the game has the same exact Defensive and Mez Protection caps as almost every other Archetype and can be turned into a Tank-Mage at will... a Tank mage with higher HP's than any other "Squishy" gets currently, btw. Their Caps need to be Normalized just like Acrobatics was recently Normalized. IE: Lowered to 125% DEF hardcap, and 60% RES cap (along with a 21-Mag Mez protection cap as well...Mez suppression will take care of the rest of the equation).
  3. Hey look at that, a Crucial Known-Issue that should have been in the Patch Notes... HAHAHA... Terrific
  4. I can't even get into this [censored]ing Zone b/c instead of making it a NORMAL zone entrance/portal like everything else... I have to talk to get some password from some Contact that won't give me any missions b/c I have too many arcs open even though I had PLENTY of space for new missions. Last time this sorta thing happened, I had to spend 5 hours going back and clearing out old Arcs against extremely low level No-XP stuff. And here's the kicker, NO OTHER "new Contacts" are telling me I have too much "stuff on my plate".

I wanna put some "Stuff" on McKnight's plate. ...the kind you read about at Urbandictionary.com
  5. w00t, that was a hell of a night... My SoA went from level 12 to 22 in one sitting just doin Story Arcs. Thursday Villains FTW!
  6. Where the hell was the Patch note indicating that Heavy Burst was nerfed??

Are you talking about CLOSED beta? B/c in Open it was doing fine damage so long as you had an Achilles in it, followed up with Venom, and then Sprayed it again. Combined with with Mace BeamBlast, I was literally taking down huge packs of minions in 3 or 4 attacks
  7. [ QUOTE ]
At level 10 a wolf should pick up maneuvers. 10% def to all for the team is close to a FF defender dispersion bubble without the mez protection.

At level 12 a wolf should pick up venom grenade. -20% res AOE to each spawn is close to a /Rad troller enervating field without the worry of an anchor.

At level 16 a wolf should pick up assult. 15% damage is close to a /Kin troller siphon power thats up all the time with no tohit problems.

If you dont pick up these 3 key team powers on your way to 24 welcome to your nightmare. I can only assume people dont understand that a wolf is more like a defender than anything else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I definitely Agree with this Post, Folks. The 3 items above are Exactly what I did on my Wolf in the 12-19 Range and I "put him through the Ringer" in that range by Soloing Marshall Brass's and Operative Wellman's Arcs on various Diff settings.

I guess to people who are used to playing Brutes or MM's... It IS going to feel a little underpowered but that's par for the course on a Class that is inherently a --->Force Multiplier<--- instead of a solo powerhouse. But as long as you do the above items and then get your Shivan Shard for those "OH SHI-" moments, you should be fine.

EDIT: If you can afford one... putting an Achilles proc in your Camera Spin is the way to go!

On my Wolfspider, I had no major issues at all soloing the Sea-Witch once I got SO's which is more than I can say for my BloodWidow at that level

As for Bane Spiders being "Squishy"...which is a complaint we all heard a lot of in Beta... I think that's Entirely an issue that really only comes home to roost after level 41 making it a Patron Power issue. ...Same goes for any Wolfspider that don't Branch either. Their lack of Survivability in End Game is entirely a product of bad Patron Power Planning which for Villains in general is just the normal SNAFU we're mostly all accustomed to by now anyway and the only way we'll ever make headway on it as a Faction is to get Positron to reconsider that EPIC SNAFU.
  8. Copying this from my Last thread that was probably ignored by the Devs as well:

In order to achieve their Full survival and Damage potential against mobs that have Unnaturally high ToHit/-DEF or Lethal/Smashing resist Attributes in excess of 20% to 30% (which is literally HALF the mob spawns you can encounter any given day)... I proposed the following suggestions:

    [ QUOTE ]
    •Add a small Enhanceable +REC bonus to Tactical-Assault...
an enhanceable Bonus of 3.5% (or 0.035) that affects all Teammates.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is Very important to Fortunatas especially: who currently; Do have some DPS potential ... but are receiving very poor D.P.E. and D.P.A. returns on those Astronomical Endurance Costs required to achieve them. It would also help Banes loosen up their Team builds in the 20-30 Range which is IMO way too tight to leave them with the Flexibility they really require (and then further Hamstrings them on Survival after 41).

    [ QUOTE ]
•Reduce the current DMG Modifier for this AT. 1.00 may actually feel low to Some people, but that's because most of our Damage is Lethal which is heavily resisted in this game. This is a UNIVERSAL game imbalance but all other Powersets that apply Lethal damage are already Pre-Balanced. VEAT damage however is about 10% too high for when that day finally arrives

[/ QUOTE ] ...Yes I'm aware this one won't go over well given current situations, but it's still necessary for long-term balance.

    And Lastly:
    • Replace Mask of Presence on Fortunatas with a 15 second "Containment" buff(5 extra seconds thrown in to allow for multiple Redraws). Call it "Moment of Fortune" and put it on a 120 second timer. Allow it to grant 90% -DEF Resistance if Castle is feeling Generous enough

    Ah, how fickle is fandom.

One day we'll have orgasmic full-sensory virtual reality MMO gaming,
while you frolic in the virtual tropical waves with a bevy of six-breasted octuplets.

LoL...there's already a fandom with a monopoly on those and they're pretty well established on SecondLife already. The LAST thing I want to hear is their high-fidelity Audio if that's the "Future" of MMO's

*Derail submitted for: ...most awkward tangent in a news article*
  10. "Vivox" sounds like something you take to treat E.D.

    Capture the Flag

We probably already have several ways of setting up our own CTF, it's just that no one's bothered to plan them out b/c they'd require everyone to agree on some structure. Examples of "flags" we have: Scientist in Warburg. The RV Heavies for each Side that's on the far end of the map from their base. A single Tanker on "Team 3" in the Arena who's required to behave like a hostage(well, you'd actually need 2 tanks, one for each "base").

...plenty of ways of doing it already and the only thing getting in the way is someone bringing a Kin (So just BAN kins from using SB...pretty simple really)
  12. Yeah I listen to a lot of DJs and their webshows and I'm pretty sure Drunk-on-Air is their natural state.
    (especially the ones on Idobi)

And yes, we need to get Castle drunk too b/c he Knows things about the Market that he's not telling us...yet
  13. *pictures Castle walking in with a big reminder-list of NoNo's and "Can't Comment on" for this interview*

*Yawwwn* -- Let's make this more interesting and turn it into a drinking game isntead:

Badges, VEATs, or Proliferate: Take 1/2 a sip
    "SOON": Take 1 sip
    "New" Feature: Take 2 sips

    PVP: 1 whole Shot
    Psi-Blast balance: 2 shots
Empathy for Villains, or PPP's: 3 Shots
Cathedral or New Base Features: 5 Shots
Confirmation that we'll still get 3 Issues this Year: Drink whatever's left in the bottle.
  14. Wow... umm, Actual* player created content.. I honestly wasn't expecting that after Jack left. This is very good news and shows they're ready to compete directly with CO

*-I don't consider Bases to be "Content" b/c there's no reward for PvP'ing in them.
They may be a time-sink but they're not unique or balanced enough to provide real entertainment.
  15. Meh.. branching missions or plots are only as good as the person Writing them, and most players will just pick the route that Vidiotsmaps or Tomax TELLS them to in order to get the most easily Farmed/Stealthed mission depending on what they're looking for.

Entirely new mission types would be a better use of time. IE: better "Protection" types, Onslaughts, more NPC-assisted EpicBattles(sort of like Silos'), Customized or Arch-Nemesis, actual PvP-doorMissions, y'know something, ANYTHING that saves us from the current humdrum of A)BossKill/Glowy, B)DefeatAll/Hostage

And what exactly does that mean? If you're going to snipe me, then snipe me to my face. I take the charge of hypocrisy very seriously... it's probably the only thing I take seriously. So Explain your comment better, plz.

Interesting info there about Floyd though. I knew he'd been around a while but I didn't know he was THAT Ol... err "Veteraned". IE: early 90's console publishing. I wonder if that means he ever got to meet Morhaime, Wyatt, or Didier in person since they all touched the same game at some point. Also Ironic: Apparently Floyd was involved in a Market simulator? Yet deflects all requests for making predictions on our WW/BM markets every chance he gets... Methinks he knows a hell of a lot more than he's letting on and we should get that info out by any means necessary, it would be very Profitable.

"Ultimately, Miller and Grubb wanted to see a parity between the Villains and Heroes in the end-game and this expansion provides both sides with an even playing field as far as epic archetypes of their high level characters are concerned."

"The Crab Spiders have some pet and stealth tools to go with their melee arsenal, while the Bane Spider takes the warrior thing to an even further degree."

Looks like Crabs still get the Disrupters.

*wonders if "some" means other pets too*

    Poison Pill

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given that none of the Crabs in game have "stealth tools" that we've seen, but Banes do (at least in Placate), I'm guessing they switched the words around on accident. Which would imply that Banes still have the pets and Crabs don't.

Wouldn't be the first time one of the Warcry writers demonstrated a staggering Lack of knowledge about whatever the hell they're asking for....
  18. VEATs after Branching = Brutes/Stalkers or Wannabe Doms.
...Nothing unique or Team-specialized at all about them.

Whoever thought this would "Shore Up" "End-Game" for CoV vs CoH doesn't seem to understand why stacking Buffs/Debuffs > Villains, and APP's > PPP's. AND Stealthing = LOL, fail b/c Positron keeps trying to nerf it. Either this interviewer doesn't know crap about asking the RIGHT questions... or we just spent the last month getting our hopes up for nothing

The best I've heard so far, first from Ilr was to simply have the drops tilted towards the actual use of them. Remaining fixed like that it would allow anything to drop, but would also keep it proprtionately in balance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean like skewing the number of Snipe and Melee drops relative to each other to better reflect the relative amount of Snipe and Melee powers in play?
I'm not so sure about that. Inevitably, the rate never can get pinned right where people want it, so everyone just keeps asking for it to be tweaked. (aka, create an endless string of "I'm not getting what i want, the problem MUST be the drop rates! We must tweak them further!")

My favorite idea is to let demand directly affect drop rates. Instead of dropping a random recipe, pick 2 at random and give someone a choice. Then supply will eventually favor demand with less randomness.
That works for pools C+D, is there a way it could work for pool A?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd love to comment on this but I'm already really busy doing a ton of "chasing down" on the market right now in preparation for i12 powersets so I can't get started on it. But I do look forward to Really discussing everything about it down the road b/c I think both ens of the spectrum have their merits And issues as well...

As previously stated by Jack Emmert and commented on recently by War Witch, 2006 saw the CoH/V team cut by 75% / from a team of about 60 to a team of about 15. It provides some insight into why David 'Zeb' Cook left, why Emmert stepped off the project and why content releases slowed in 2006.

    [/ QUOTE ]

MAN.... I WISH that one thread was still here where I totally called Jack out on this by saying he had cut everything down to a "Skeleton Crew" and he responded specifically to it just to run me down as usual by vehemently disagreeing, but without providing any details to counter it (AKA: Lying). It's kinda hard NOT to hold a grudge when a trusted "professional" claims one thing is happening, but it turns out to be the complete opposite of what's ACTUALLY happening.
