  1. Greetings all.

The title says it all. Since the damage output and range on Blazing Aura isnt all that great, is it worth slotting it with procs? (6 slotted - 4 damage procs and 2 acc/dam/end io's) or would i be better off with hami-O's (3 slotted - 2 Nucleous and 1 End reducer)
  2. There is a fairly large group of fire/rad's who meet up on Monday nights (thanks to Hyperstrike!).

8pm CST. on Freedom. We meet on the hill close to the train in Talos Island.

The only real requirement (Hyper will correct me if i am wrong) is that you are playing a fire/rad controller (though AM is sort of a req...)

    all levels are welcome
  3. I too have been experiencing unexpected "kicks from the game". I (as directed) grabbed CoH Helper. Anything look like it would be the cause of this?

  4. Greetings all.

The title pretty much describes my current need/want/probably going to be purchasing soon.

The main reason I am looking for a CoH laptop is I will be traveling a bunch (work stuff) soon, and simply know that I will want to be playing CoH still!

I am looking for recommendations for "high end" ones, "low end", and a sort of decent value-ish one. (I have not really decided how much I will be spending on this, but it will most likey not be enough for the high end ones.. just sort of want to get ideas to keep me working overtime!)

    Tanks!
  5. First off, Welcome to Freedom!

Now, ill try to answer your questions for you!

    Quote:
Is Hero or Villain side more populace? Does one side or another suffer from a lower population on this server? What would be a good recommendation for a new player to start out? Or is it just personal preference? All my characters are Praetor so far, so I can go either way
It seems that the hero side (blue) has a greater population; though keep in mind that could also be because i rarely play my villians these days. I would recommend testing the waters with your toons.. send a few to the good guys and a few to the bad!

    Quote:
Are there any good Super Groups out there for the enthusiast player? I am not a hardcore kind of guy, but not totally casual either. I do enjoy mature, team-oriented friends to play with.
Not certain about the super groups exactly, though i am sure there are some very active ones out there. I would say that your best bet is to join a chat channel or two (others here should be able to point you in the proper directions for them, as I'm drawing a blank). They are great for finding task/strike forces as well as general fun teams. Also, watch the forums for various groups events (that you can sign up for here)

    Quote:
And lastly, is it common to receive cold invites? Seem to get them a lot, and in other games this is considered bad manners. I usually prefer to get a tell asking me if I am available or would like to join before I get an invite. But if this is the common practice, I won't take offense. Is it rude of me to just decline?
Yep, that happens a lot. There are a few ways to avoid them. Use the "/hide" command is one way. Sometimes i will join a random blind invite, depends on the mood im in. So not rude of you to decline a blind invite (imo)

Feel free to shout at me in game if you wish! My Global is @Epoxy Man

And i thought you just needed to list stuff in the market to make billions! I will have to test out the park idea! :P

    1 Touch of Death: Acc/Dam/End

    And to cap it off:

2 Luck of the Gambler: +Recharge.

Estimated market value for the 5 crafted enhancements: 670 (ish) million influence for one A merit. Obviously better than spending 2 to get 1 LotG, right?
In the spirit of random-ness.. i figured i too would try a nice random roll (level 30-34) for one A-Merit:

    and got:

    Obliteration:Chance for Smashing damage
    Touch of Death: Acc/Dam/End
    Obliteration: Chance for Smashing damage
    Unbounded Leap: +Stealth
    Sciroccos' Dervish: Dam/Acc/End

Much better luck than most of my random rolls!

Thanks! Guess it just shows that I actually read as much as I could here to find the tips and tricks! That and listened and tried to absorb all i could while getting creamed in Sirens and RV with various toons. Also, I didn't want to post here saying "Help me! i need a build", without actually trying to do a little of the leg work!

That being said, I'm not sure the results you are going to get using empathy and psy blast together, hoping for an offensive toon.

The set bonuses you have are put together well, but (and its just my opinion) if you are going to build an emp defender, it should probably be for a support role. Missing out on AP, CM, and RA are sort of cornerstone powers to the build.
I sort of expected this, just didn't want to believe it. Seeing as this toon is great when it comes to support in PvE, was hoping to actually turn him into something that he is not. I will have to play around on Mids some more and fine tune (toon? ) him for max hit points etc to make his dual build solid for PvP support.

    Quote:
Beyond that, you are going to be facing off against (in zones, as you said standing under Atlas) Scrappers, Stalkers, Dominators and blasters, all of which greatly out damage you. Going after them is going to leave you with a pretty sad KDR. However, building more for support with a few attacks thrown in and finding a buddy or a team would go a long ways to making you more effective as well as those around you.
One last question... actually i have a ton of questions but just one more for now: How is the Devastation proc when it comes to PvP?

Back to the drawing board, but not just for my emp, i have a sonic/em collecting dust that might fair a little better in the zones!

    (editted to add revised build)

I ditched the snipe, veng, and total focus. I may shuffle the powers around to get Regen aura around level 26 and shift everything else.

  9. Greetings all.

I have not PvP'd very much in this game, but I am starting to! My Emp/Psi defender is one of my oldest toons and I figured I might enjoy getting him killed alot (well, at first at any rate). Please critique my build and any and all advice is welcome! (yes, including standing under atlas and shouting "Can someone show me a fast way to the Hospital?")

I do not have all of the accolades yet, but I am working on them.

    Thanks in advance!!

Now they're 120-150, and I've seen as high as 200. Should I just be waiting that out, or did I just get super lucky back when I got them for 70?

The other thing that stands out is that on a lot of purples, if I bid middle of the last 5, it's been a week and they're consistently above that range. Is that normal, abnormal? I'm sort of guessing that purple prices were briefly depressed by the rush of people doing the incarnate content for the first time, so I should probably just accept that I'm gonna have to raise those bids.

    Thoughts? Advice?
    My thoughts are as follows:

The cost of "in demand" recipes will always increase (as a trend). For your purple bids, i would continue to wait, as the weekends have the greatest 'action' for the market.

For your Basilisk quad, sounds like you got lucky!

I am completely impressed by this accomplishment! If/when you decide to jump onto Freedom and run down the top spot there I would like to join that effort!

Congrats to everyone in the 88's!

  17. I wish i had prepared just a little bit better for this market craziness Everything i stocked up on has sold!

    Now What?

First thing, congrats on reaching 1 billion inf!

    Now to address your questions:

Yes! In this very forum, up at the top, there is a thread that has been pinned (sticky) titled "Market FAQ's and mini guides". This is a good starting spot for you to "Learn" how to work the market.

I have to ask: you said you made your billion inf by farming and ticket rolls; why change this if it worked for you unless you are getting bored with it? What ticket rolls were you making? If they were recipes, did you craft any of them? (bunch more questions for you on how you made your $$$ but that can wait)

I can sum up all of the guides that you will be able to find for you.

Purchase an item for price X. Sell that item for 11% higher (or more) than the total cost of item X (now this should include the cost of salvage and crafting). The 11% makes certain that you turn a profit, as the people who are more 'Ebil' than anyone here are the share holders of Wentworths....

    Example for you:

Purchase 1 [level 50 Doctored Wounds: Healing] recipe for lets say 555,888 inf
Purchase 1 regenerating flesh (Salvage) for 4,222 inf
Purchase 1 hydraulic piston for 422 inf
Purchase 1 gold for 4,222 inf

So far your total cost is 1,051,354 inf.

List your crafted [Level 50 Doctored Wounds: Heal] for at the very least 1,167,003 in order for you to profit.

Though that profit margin is paper thin.. you can set what percentage you want to make.. in that situation i would want at the very least make 1 mil inf profit so you would list it for 2.17 mil.

Loads of ways to make inf.. just dig through the FAQ's and ask questions as you get them

    OH!! almost forgot!

If you still find that playing the game is fun, that is a great way to make inf too! (just do both! place bids etc then go have fun!)

Welcome to the bigger game, inside the game

    hEY

Great news to hear! Now if only MY work schedule would also change, i'd be able to make some of them again. oh well.
  20. Still think this is awesome!

    Couple questions for you Organica:

Which server are you running these on? (Virtue? Freedom?)
What time do you usually run your tf's?

    and lastly

    Any room on your team?

imo, the OP was being sarcastic. Do not lament though!! I have roughly 20 of them for sale on went's atm! All of them for much less than 20 A-merits!

I agree. I've been enjoying your experiment! (well, reading about it at any rate). I have the same problem that you do, Hell Jumper. My SG has only 4 people (including myself), and one of them is deployed overseas atm.

One of the solutions that I have found is joining some of the various channels and weekly events that are posted on the server forums. (ie Fire/rad goodness on Mondays and Fridays, The Freedom Horde events on Monday nights...) Guess it depends on what time you generally play and which server you are on! If you are on freedom, feel free to send me a tell (@Epoxy Man) as I'm usually up for stuff!
