Blazing Aura slotting question
Greetings all.
The title says it all. Since the damage output and range on Blazing Aura isnt all that great, is it worth slotting it with procs? (6 slotted - 4 damage procs and 2 acc/dam/end io's) or would i be better off with hami-O's (3 slotted - 2 Nucleous and 1 End reducer) |
So you're probably marginally better off slotting for damage to get it to around 90%, slotting for Acc and End as you see fit and throwing a PROC or two in if you've got the slots spare.
It's close though.
It depends on what you're trying to do with the set bonuses.
While the damage output might not seem all that great because it happens in frequent, but low-damage tics, the overall damage output by these powers is actually pretty good. Slotting it with 6 Obliterations is a good way to go if you want some Melee defense, though only if your Endurance usage is under control. If it's not, then 6-slotting with Multi-Strikes might be better.

I usually slot it with four damage procs (Oblit, Armageddon, Eradication, Scirocco), the Fury of the Gladiator proc, and a Damage/Endurance IO from one of the sets that offers the best bonus at two pieces, usually the Armageddon. If I am using the PBAoE purples in another power (like Burn, for example), I'll skip the purple proc in Blazing Aura and replace it with an Accuracy/Damage of the same set of the Damage/Endurance piece.
Procs are nice in Blazing Aura, in my opinion.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

For typed defense characters, 3 Eradications and 3 Cleaving Blows aren't bad. Pick the quad and triple from Erad and make up damage, acc and end reduction the best you can from the others.

When I last played around w/Herostats and damage procs in tanker damage auras, it gave me about a 16% return in total damage when it was ED capped. In other words, a single damage proc is worth about a single damage SO. If you're ED capped for damage, or getting close, you're better off w/a proc than more damage. Of course, you'll ideally want to ED cap damage *and* put in a proc or three, plus as much end redux as your build needs.
