I'm breaking out my fire/fire/fire and I'm going to start slotting sets and not sure what to slot for. Is there a consensus on what to aim for? Def, Rech, damage? I'll post a build later right now i'm just wondering what to focus on. I'm planning on taking advantage of hot feet so hover blasting is out. I'd like to stick with flame mastery for concept but if i tint the ice mastery powers they could work too.

So ideas?

You can't tint APP/pool powers right now, unfortunately -- unless I missed something truly huge.

If you're planning on more of a range/melee hybrid, then your best (mechanical) option is probably going to be S/L DEF combined with as much recharge as you can possibly get. The upside is that that's fairly easy (and comparatively cheap) to do on a Blaster. The downside is that an APP armor toggle does a lot of the heavy lifting -- which limits your choices to the Ice APP (Frozen Armor) or Mace Mastery (Scorpion Shield).

Of the two, I prefer Mace Mastery. Scorpion Shield has a fairly unobtrusive visual effect (it's like a purple-tinted blur around your character), and the Mace-Mastery AoE Immobilize is probably the best one availabe (though it does have a longish activation time). Rain of Fire just begs for an AoE Immobilize. The only problem is that Hero-side characters have to switch alignments to run the Patron story arc before they're allowed to select Patron Pools. That's at least a four day task. (Eight if you want to switch back afterwards.)

All of that said, it's hard to post specific build suggestions without a clearer idea of your preferences -- which powers you like and why. You may well find that you're willing to forego soft-cap DEF in favor of more damage/recharge bonuses and a more thematically appropriate APP selection.

The first 2 ios you should slot in your blaster are the the miracle proc and the numina proc into Health. Will vastly improve the sustainability of your blaster and with hero merits only 4 days of work.

Well here's a rough idea.

I like the idea of the self heal from Entropic chaos, plus 6.5% recharge bonus to boot. But if anyone has tried it and knows it doesn't work let me know.

I'm looking to be up close to take advantage of hot feet + Rain of Fire combo. I've kinda given up on inferno, yes it is awesome when it goes off but the recharge and end crash kinda kill it for me.

I decided to switch to Ice epic for the defense bonus. But if anybody has a good close combat build with fire epic i would prefer it. I like rise of the phoenix. It may not be the best power, but i think it is the coolest by far.

As an aside, with fitness being free now, odes anybody else feel like trading a power selection or two for more slots?

With my Fire/Fire I took a very different route that's worked REALLY well for me. I slotted heavily for recharge and didn't worry about Def. I didn't take tough and weave either. With i19 i added the stealth set mainly to squeeze in a few LoTG global recharges. I've just now got his alpha slot and I'm going to go for damage.
Because I'm a bit squishy I went with Fire Mastery and Rise of the Phoenix (RoTF) so when I do die I pop right back up, stun everyone, and just go right on killing. According to Hero Stats on 8 person teams I tend to make 6 out of every 8 kills. I'm aggressive (maybe even a bit reckless) and a pure killing machine. I farm +0 X8 maps alone all the time with great results.
I should mention that this toon has been around since about i4 and has had all the accolades for years now. I'm also heavily purpled. So I can't say that the killing machine style I use works from levels 1 - 49. Probably not as I do rely on RoTF heavily (but it's rare that I die and it isn't recharged) and I don't think you can get that before 47. Also, he was good before IOs, but not nearly the terror he is now. I can only imagine what the alpha slot will do...
Anyway, you might think about this alternative. I do die a lot more than a blaster who's maxed DEF, but I kill a LOT more and, most importantly, I have tremendous fun dishing out insane amounts of damage. I'm a min/maxer and to me this toon is maximized for FUN.
