Awesome! I get it, then.
Good info. -
So, let me get this straight.
Billing cycle: 6mo (Last, Aug 9 2011. Next, Feb 9 2012.)
Bill date: 9th of the month
Thus,
Next point stipend: October 11 2011 (400pt since I'm at tier 6 on the shrubbery... for now...)
Next reward token: Nov 8?
Did I get that right? -
I'm not exactly sure what to think of this bizarre bug I seem to have tripped over.
After Freedom dropped and I bought a bunch of stuff with the accumulated points from pre-launch, I went through the market, wishlisting things I couldn't afford, to a total of something like 8 items. I've been periodically adding stuff as well, bringing my wish list total to something like 12.
I've always been able to poke in and look at what I have wish-listed and have been planning to make purchases as I get my monthly stipend and buy points. But today, when I was about to buy points to take advantage of some of the current sales (the costume slots), my wish list was blank! (0 items, 0 point total.) However, items that I know to be on my wish list are showing up with the red X wish list button in the market interface. Clearly it knows I have a wish list SOMEWHERE.
I relogged, restarted the client, and unchecked (and re-checked) "link to existing NCsoft account" and still have the same blank wish list with clearly wishlisted items in the main market.
It's not game-breaking, and it's not like I can't remember everything I want (even if I have to hunt it down in its various categories) but I kind of liked the wish list...
Anyone else experiencing this? I am considering petitioning. -
Virtue fall down go boom. \o/
We're not being "singled out," something likely HAPPENED that was not supposed to. Chill. -
I completely agree with plainguy above.
Cuppa, the effort you put in is so much more than anyone could ask for, especially those of us who are not quite as codesavvy and have NO IDEA what's going wrong when stuff breaks. You help us break and un-break the mac client to make it hopefully better. Thank you.
Zwil, the effort you put in to keep us anxious and noisy minority customers informed is probably part of your job description. But you deserve major props too. Thank you for being open, communicative, and making a real effort to get us heard.
Je_saist, you deserve thanks too, for staying on top of finding people to bug to fix their product (Transgaming) and for being such an advocate for better cross-platform functionality.
The engineers deserve thanks as well, for and quashing the bugs we find (and then breaking something else! Isn't software development fun? ). We'll break everything so you can unbreak it! o7 Also, welcome to our little hole.
Gotta say, this whole thing is feeling more like a real beta test than anything I've actually tested on any beta server.
Now after my little appreciation soapbox, I'm unable to see if my purchases are going through, since A: I can't see my points and B: the client continues to freeze and crash if I attempt to make a purchase. It's seeming that they aren't, as I can't make a beam rifle character (and the VIP server isn't letting me on to see if I've gotten that rocketboard. ) Did the filedance, didn't help. -
-
After repairing (which caused my machine to burp up a "too many forks" error code after the repair and forced me to kill the launcher) I was able to access the market, but there was NO text except those that appeared to be part of an image - not even the boxes that others had their clients cough up. On trying to buy something, my client froze for about two minutes, then told me the connection to the server had been lost, before freezing again and giving me an Assertion Failure crash.
No screenshot handy unfortunately.
I'm running Leopard (10.5.8 macbook, 2.13Ghz CPU, 4G RAM, GeForce 9400M graphics)
Still! Progress is good! -
-
Quote:That's what I needed to hear. Thanks so much, man.Issue 21 will not go live with this issue in place. The reason this was not addressed in closed beta is due to the need to coordinate such fixes with Transgaming.
There's a lot of moving parts with Issue 21 and Freedom, and a lot of things that need to be tested. Unfortunately, the timing on the known issues with the Paragon Market being addressed didn't line up with our need to start concurrency testing.
We are working with Transgaming to address this issue ASAP and will let you know the minute that it's corrected.
Thank you for being patient.

And the Mac players breathed a collective sigh of relief... -
Quote:Gonna chime in here...Can you fix the mac client's Assertion Failures?
Can you fix the memory leak?
Can you fix the improper caching of graphics to memory?
IS THERE ANY REASON I SHOULD KEEP USING THE MAC CLIENT?
Is there any reason I should keep playing?
(warning: rant forthcoming)
If these issues aren't fixed, I may not be able to, and if I still get crashed by our shiny lovely $Paragon Market when Freedom hits, I'm going to have to quit - regardless of having paid to next February. Regardless of how much I enjoy the game and community. Regardless of how cool everything in I21 seems. Regardless of how quickly I fell in love with my Time/Arch in open beta.
Regardless of how much time and money I've already spent on the game.
If I can't get to the Market, I can't play and pay as a VIP. If I can't have the features that were promised to me as a VIP, I am not in truth, a VIP. If I am not getting what I am paying for, I am in essence being exploited.
I will not be exploited.
This is not a threat. It's a statement of fact. I CAN'T set up a dual boot on my laptop - I have neither the hard drive space nor the Windows license.
I've always had the oddest feeling about the Mac forum being under "Player Help" and not say... Development, with the bugs forum (because pretty much all that is posted here is bugs, bugs, bugs). It feels dismissive, marginalizing, and shows a clear lack of understanding for our needs.
The game is sold and advertised as Mac-compatible, but every day it becomes less so. Starting to smell like false advertising. It feels like they'd LOVE to drop Mac support entirely, but can't.
(/rant)
I'm going to guess that there was at least one Mac player in closed beta, otherwise this would not be a KNOWN issue right out of the gate for open beta.
I'm also going to guess that Paragon doesn't have enough Mac support and QA sorts handy, just from the apparent echo chamber this forum is.
As for getting into closed beta... when is an 18mo vet EVER going to get into closed beta? I'm too "young" for the "privilege" of closed beta - or so it seems. Crying shame that CuppaManga and je_saist weren't invited, too.
*clears throat*
Quote:Currently the Mac Client has some critical issues when attempting to access the Issue 21 Beta.- Mac players are able to the play I21 Beta if they create Praetorian characters or transfer their characters from live to beta.
- Mac players will get a crash when they try to access the Paragon Market. Mac players are unable to complete the neutral tutorial because one of the missions is to purchase the Knowledgeable badge from the Paragon Market.
Thanks and our sincere apologies for this inconvenience. -
I had the same problem, caved, downloaded a whole new client. It's still repairing after about 5 failed downloads. I have a buddy saying that his launcher constantly finds 210 bad files, goes through the repair, and finds 210 bad files again.
I think something's broken... badly... -
Still potentially client-trashing known issues?
Have the known issues with the new launcher been fixed? And is there any way to mitigate those known issues?
And are we ever going to have our other known issues dealt with, like the memory leak? -
...Dark blasters... fire defenders...
GLEE. -
Twice yesterday I ran Keyes. Twice yesterday, in two different leagues with 46 different people, it bugged, with Antimatter getting stuck in geometry, both times at Reactor Infinity. Twice, a GM (in the second one, two, in fact), came and got him free, taking 5-10 minutes to show up.
Twice, we failed, because of the lost time. And twice, the GMs refused to add trial time (not sure if they can) or award the lost empy (reasonably sure they can).
This would not be such an issue, if the trial were not such a tremendous investment of time and effort. I am complaining about the bug (which was apparently known on beta and still not fixed, despite being trial-breaking) and not the conduct of the GMs, though I will say that it is rather grating to fail twice and get nothing for our effort because of circumstances we can in no way control.
Please fix this, devs. -
When Beastyle was partying in Atlas, I flipped. Wish I had been around for the spider chases. XD
Random mayhem is fun!
It shows you care, and it shows that yes, you DO play the game. It mixes things up a bit... I like. -
*lavishes worship and praise on Ominous*
Lineage of War is downright CHILLING, amazing work. Brass Monday sounds like what plays in my head when Nemesis shenanigans go down - except yours is more epic. Very megalomaniacal and villainous.
The First, The Last, The One is quite effective - feels like it's out of a movie.
I rather enjoy Incarnate and how you weave in the theme (Rise of the Heroes) - Solemn, strong, yet also calm and almost mystical, fitting for (as you said) the rise to godhood.
I've heard Rise of the Heroes and Recluse's Web before - downloaded the former with Orchestral Epicness. (yes, sir, you have a fan.)
Why not finish out Hero and Villain with Praetorian? Would be neat if you could show both Loyalist and Resistance and their conflict musically.
Other ideas for things to hear in musical form... Kheldians, Malta, or Devouring Earth.
Keep up the AWESOME work! -
My SG and the people I play with regularly will in fact tell you that Rise of the Phoenix is part of my attack chain, solo OR teamed.
There was one time in an ITF where I had a "FFFFFF-" moment due to a helpful defender TPing me out of a group to use their rez on me - perfectly valid under normal circumstances, but it caused me to misfire RotP and made me very sad about a failed kamikaze.
I have one friend who I swear has a bind or macro for targeting me and using Venge. (Said friend once got a venge off me in the 1.5s activation time between "Ali hit the floor" and "Ali exploded", WHILE he was actively fighting the same group that I pulled.)
I should get my build up here. I'm not kidding about three nukes. (Thunderous Blast, Ion Judgement, and Rise of the Phoenix.)
Quote:High five, man. *hi5!*YES! My personal version is "Death is part of my attack chain." but I love seeing someone else who has as little self-preservation instinct on a blaster as I do!
It actually gets me in trouble on most of my alts who play NOTHING like my main. *sheepish*
More to the point, since RotP IS part of my attack chain and my strategy revolves around nukes, I prioritized damage over recharge (though plenty of recharge comes on its own - hasten is down for about 15s not counting Ageless and I can easily pile on 6-8 stacks of Defiance between Charged Bolts and Lightning Bolt) and deliberately avoided defense, resistance, health, and regen. I figure, if I'm a glass cannon, I'm a glass cannon all the way damnit. -
My turn!
Main, Alisha Shatogi: (She smiles more than this!)
Agent Achlys, psychic black ops supersoldier, homage to Ghosts of the Starcraft uni:
Talon, a bounty hunter from SPAAAACE! (also with my own art of her):
Sorry for the wide, there. I run at 1280x800 widescreen. >_>;
And finally, Dymir, a grouchy dragoness bodyguard:
Sick of us yet? You're awesomesauce, by the way. Also wow this post is huge. -
Since I posted in your other thread, here's my two cents:
First thing I see is what looks like too many defense powers for a true glass cannon. Leadership is a fairly viable alternative to Concealment for LotG muling (Maneuvers and Vengeance both accept Defense). You DO have 5, yes, but glass cannoning is about a balance of damage and recharge.
Absolute Amazement is of dubious usefulness, especially in Stun of all places. (I skipped Stun entirely.)
Phase Shift? Uh, what?
Also, what's up with Repulsion Bomb? And //Force in general? On that note, I'd strongly recommend Flame over Force for glass cannon shenanigans. RotP makes for another nuke and a place to put Oblit, which seems to me to be a lot more valuable than those KB prots and one LotG you have right now. Char is a place for Lockdown (3% damage @ 2/6!!!) or Unbreakable Constraint (10% recharge @ 5/6)
Don't think you need THAT much KB prot - you have Hover for cripes' sake. Hover acts as KB prot. You could get away with ONE of those globals.
Power order seems a little wacky, but I'll guess that's because this is intended as a purpled to the gills 50-only build.
Don't think you need that many slots in Health. You could probably get away with one Numi or one Miracle.
Where's your Perf shifter proc?
Conserve Power and Boost Range are meh, especially since they can't really take sets of any use. And you really shouldn't NEED CP up that much - you'd have a better time putting the slots in Stamina and taking 5/6 Perf Shifter for 2.5% damage.
Where's Bone Smasher and Total Focus? You can get in Touch of Death (2.5% damage @ 4/6) with those (and move Heca to one of them - Bone Smasher in particular is pretty wicked.)
And for Rad/ I am noticing a SINFUL lack of Achilles' Heel procs.
I don't have Mids in front of me and am going on my 23rd hour awake so I'm kind of rambly and didn't analyze in detail, but that's what I see off the bat for a no defense/high damage glass cannon type build.
So yeah. That's what I see, coming from a glass cannon damage-over-recharge elec/energy/flame blaster. -
I'm in the process of purpling my elec/energy/flame blaster (musc core, ion core, ageless core, diamagnetic radial, seers radial for my incarnate stuff) with basically my only defenses coming from Hover and Fire Shield. No defense/pure damage is perfectly valid as a blaster, but it takes some setup and skill to do well.
My particular strategy involves a HUGE spike of opening damage, chaining up to 3 nuke-level AoEs together. As long as I can get off at least one, picking off the rest is not a problem. I'm fully capable of soloing +1x8 at my current, incomplete build, and death is typically not an issue: Rise of the Phoenix is part of my attack chain.
I abuse Power Boost + Build Up + Aim, and typically don't hesitate to use my accolades either. Geas of the Kind Ones and Vanguard Medal are excellent Blaster accolades.
The best advice I have for no-defense:
1. Get thee Flame Mastery for Rise of the Phoenix if you don't already have it - nothing like getting ANOTHER nuke out of dying.
2. Break Frees are your friend. Blues are your friend around a nuke.
3. Start and finish combat quickly, be mobile, and be AGGRESSIVE. See #1. Enter combat with a bang - preferably your biggest.
4. Know your enemies. This goes for anyone, but knowing that Carnies can pile infinite mezzes on you, Malta can eat your end for breakfast, or Nemesis can stack Vengeance can help you avoid situations where your primary advantage (massive frontloaded damage) is countered.
5. Are you Incarnate? Yes? Use the powers!
Happy blasting. -

I'm fine with the costs where they are currently. -
Metal, rock, punk, alternative, video game music, and movie music.
Naturally the Cape is where I get a lot of it, but sometimes I'll prefer my own library. -
I was on Sunday's MS raids and corroborate. The very damning proof that it was the league was the fact that Raid 1 was a 5-team league (40 participants, Rev, there were 5 full teams. 5x8=40. ) and lagged to the point of unplayability... and Raids 2 and 3 were ~40-50 participants, conducted "old school" (with teams, no league) and it ran smooth as silk (for a raid).
During the first raid, you could literally walk away from your keyboard and grab a snack or something while waiting for a power to fire. For example: I have Charged Bolts down to roughly 1.5s recharge inside Hasten and Ageless Destiny, yet it sometimes took upwards of 3 real minutes for it to fire. I admit I wasn't watching my ping ingame, but it was in fairly normal out of it (80-200ms on Vent).
I suspect it's probably all the combat information flying everywhere, myself. -
Just what it says on the tin: I'd love to be able to separately save power customization for each incarnate slot, the same way we can currently save primaries and secondaries separately. If pools and epics ever make it into power customization, they too should probably have the ability to save separately.
