  2. I24 was going to fulfill the majority of my wish list.

Aside from that, a single pistol power set (using dual pistols makes you a badass, using a single one? Now that's hardcore).

    A knife fighting power set.

A dominator secondary that combined dual pistols with martial arts. Martial Assault seems fine but it's not what I had in mind.

A control set that used something natural origin could explain. Maybe grenade launcher control/grenade launcher assault.

An assault rifle set that wasn't completely ridiculous (I just want the gun, not like 10 guns in one).

If they want my good opinion they must radically revise their current behavior.

Its one of the most surreal things in MMOs.

But then I realized I already have a sub with The Secret World I haven't touched in a few weeks. I had to take a break from TSW because they are going through a drama bomb of their own, albeit not quite like this one. But the BS with COH has given me fresh perspective. TSW is a good game, and the disappointments they are experiencing now look minor by comparison. In time I think it will be a great game like COH is today. The game has a lot of great things going for it that they will build off of. I wish there was some way for ex-Paragon Studios employees to get involved with that franchise.
What drama is TSW going through?

I played a trial not long ago, and I plan to buy it next month, it's a fantastic game.

    Subject: Save our community, please.

    Body:
I will keep this short and sweet.

As you know by now, City of Heroes was shut down in an extremely questionable move by NCSoft, since apparently, while CoH is making them money, their other games are failing and.. yeah that makes no sense to me either.

Suffice to say, if you could convince NC to sell CoH to you, it would be a boon to you and your company.

    What you get:

An extremely loyal community that is probably the single most mature and friendly community in any MMO. It has a built in fanbase, and all you need to do is read a few threads at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/ to know this is true.

City of Heroes is profitable. It is a proven product that has lasted nearly a decade. Only NCSoft's inability to properly market it has kept it from taking off. With your clout and marketing, City of Heroes could be more popular than it has ever been, and that is NOT wishful thinking. Play the game, meet the people. It's a diamond in the rough.

If you choose to hire them (and you should) probably one of the single friendliest, hardest working, and passionate groups of developers in the industry. Check their "coffee talks" here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ncsoftnorcal This is a weekly livestream from the development staff that connects with the community and talks about the game and its upcoming features. Pay attention to these people for even a moment, and you will see the competence and passion they exude.

Buy City of Heroes and you cannot go wrong as long as you treat it, and its community, with care, and we would love you forever personally.

  7. Aisynia, my first character, and still my main. Her original costume is lost to the ages. Made September 26, 2006.

Found a picture with her hood down:

And in one of her civilian outfits:

And finally, reference pic of her scales so I could try to reproduce her elsewhere. Was always fond of her scales, I worked on them for years:

  8. As much as I want this to happen.. NCSoft doesn't sell its IPs, it shoots them in the head and dumps them on the side of a desert road, never to be seen again.

There's no multi-player content at all). Other MMOs aren't going to fill the space that CoH occupied.

CO doesn't make me feel awesome. I died five times in the tutorial alone, and in the "real" game fighting more than two minions at a time is instant death. It talks a good game, but, in the end, you're not a superhero, just a punching bag in an ugly costume who can be taken out by a couple of goons.

Dofus doesn't make me feel awesome. I'm underleveled (not a single character at the level cap after more than seven years of playing), undergeared (I'm wearing other people's hand-me-downs), broke (things costs tens of millions of kamas, and I have about 100,000), and all the people I know on that game are so many levels higher that if I get to group at all, it's out of pity, not because I'm an important member of the team. And most bosses at my level range are nearly impossible to beat even for full teams of min-maxed level-capped characters with perfect gear, so what chance do I have alone?

You'll find me on KoL as JunTenki.
My experience with CO has always been different. I have a munitions character that is set up so that she can go to the power house battle station, create a full room of team size 5 hard mobs, aggro all of them, and then kill them all while easily surviving.

Free form builds are the key to making truly powerful characters in CO, but learning the system is HARD. The people there are helpful and there are channels to join to get help. Feel free to give up on it, but I think your experience is skewed compared to mine.

i used to play tabula rasa alongside city of heroes, so i think i've got plenty of reason to be bitter with ncsoft. When tr died, i vowed that city of heroes would be the only ncsoft game i'd ever touch again, because i thought it was old enough and big enough to survive this kind of crap.

I was wrong, and ncsoft won't be getting any more of my money, no matter how cool their latest titles turn out to be.

On the other side of the scale, I have 'The final Frontier' of Star Trek online. Suitably epic and BFGs galore.

I might even (if I must) try, once again, to play Champions Online.

Hopefully, I'll never need to go that far.
Champions has improved a lot. Not saying it's an amazing game, even after CoH closes down for good, CO will still be second best to it, but it's certainly improved.

    As I said, baffling.

Maybe the screen is different for subscribers?

(My wife is loading it up again as I type this to check it out. Loading... loading... Ah, I see. Yeah, I did completely miss that dropdown. Welp, my bad, then. Now that she found the Power Armor, it's looking better. Still does that weird thing where you can bring up pieces with Random but not in the actual editor. Like, right now, the Costume Piece says "Wings Insect Beetle 02" but the dropdown doesn't have that option)

    That's a relief, at least.

From what I've read online, the fixed Archetypes can't change Roles, only the Freeform Archetype, so that wouldn't help.

You're making me want to play! Stop it! >
What the poster above me said. I'm not sure why they chose to do that, it's a bit baffling. Level 10 comes VERY quickly though. Very quickly.

I say hit level 10 and then go to a tailor. If you need a bit of money, look me up. Send me a PM here if you want my global.

And yeah, power armor is badass.

Still no replacement for CoH though. Dammit, the world stopped making sense Aug 31.

Logged off after 2 min. It does have 'just' enough to remind me of CoX, and I think it may just be too soon. I WILL be staying here til the lights go out and will pray to the Well that something happens to keep our universe from shutting down, so I think trying ANY other game right now will probably make it seem worse than it actually is.

Edit: I'm not saying the game is bad, I don't think 2 min is anywhere enough time to determine that, I just couldn't get myself to play longer without feeling like i was going to breakdown over what we're losing.
Yeah.. CO is for my hero fix.. but there is and never will be a replacement for CoH in any game.

IMO, CoH is simply the best MMO that has ever been made.. by a wide margin.

Well, the costume creator is not only sparse (with I'd say at least 60-70% of the pieces locked in some way, either behind quests, in-game currency, or real cash moneys), but the options utterly baffling. I couldn't recreate even the most basic of my characters' appearances from CoH. My character has one robot arm because I got fed up and hit "Random", and there is now no way to NOT have a robot arm except to hit Random again (which I didn't want to do, since I like most of the costume). There's no categories for that. (Or, there's a category, but "Robot arm" is the only option).
Someone failed to pay attention to anything on the screen, though it's definitely less intuitive than this game.

See this picture, you need to click up at the category at the top.

With CO, no, you will not be able to exactly replicate the looks of a CoH character. That's just the way it is, it isn't the same game. In general, I find that CO has the ability to more intricately detail a costume (toggles for symmetry/asymmetry, 4 colors per piece, pieces attached to parts of the body CoH isn't set up for), but generally has less overall options in comparison to CoH. That makes sense, considering CoH is years older.

EDIT: Also, in their infinite wisdom, Perfect World restricted the costume editor to an extent until you reach level 10 on any character (which takes under an hour). Why? I have no idea. To what extent? I don't know, my account is a lot older than that change, though I was told that body scaling is definitely heavily restricted until then.

If you want some help, just PM me and I can give you my global name over there. If not, then I hope you have fun in whatever you decide to do.

I enjoy the game for what it is and nothing more. It's fun, especially in a duo or a group, and it's a decent game, but it isn't a replacement for CoH. Nothing is, and nothing ever will be.

So it even fails in the "makes you feel like a superhero" part. I don't recall the last time Superman got his *** repeatedly handed to him by a bunch of muggers.

So it's not only making me sadder than ever, it's going out of its way to downright piss me off by making me feel like a paper-mache punching bag instead of a superhero.
You can skip the tutorial after doing it once.

Also, that is not normal.. maybe try switching your role. You may also, no offense, simply not know how to play yet, being a complete noob. It happens to most of us in ANY new game.

    For the non Spanish speakers:

I'm going through stories and moments of a love
I can cause hours to disappear in seconds
But today is the 6th day and it's useless
The day passes and it's useless

It's the dawn of another story
    A new phase is beginning
It's been suffering since long ago
    On a day like today
Life goes on while hitting our backs
We go around, carrying the cross within our souls

    (Chorus)
    But I'm not here
    Imagining the same things
    That always destroy me
    I heard a voice
It was shouting at me the same things
That I have known all along

    I heard a voice...

Life goes on while hitting our backs
My life is sinking into tears of nothingness

    (Chorus)
  18. Me and my friend's personal canon:

The Battalion arrives to invade Earth in the very near future. Many die in the initial onslaught and the death toll is incredible for both hero and civilian alike. The war against the invading force is desperate and bloody. The Elder Gods come down from their Grand Pantheon to help, Earth's allies from space and alternate dimensions arrive to help defend.. the true and ultimate power of all those who live here and who help is unleashed. It's barely enough.

The Battalion is defeated once and for all, the Wells liberated, and Earth survives, but much of the world is in ruins, and billions are dead.

The Elder Gods, even they having been at the mercy of its power for so long, turn their attention to the uncaring and unfeeling Well. Using their combined power in an unprecedented show of nearly omnipotent power, disperse it forever, with the consequence of every Well sharing the same fate.

This act forever unbinds human potential, but also unmakes the super powers of nearly every being on Earth, human or otherwise. Their fates would be their own, but the powers they once held would need to be rediscovered naturally by future civilization.

The Elder gods themselves are severely drained of their abilities and retreat into the dimmed Pantheon, while the few left on Earth with any superpowers find that their powers don't behave normally. Most people with any power left are people from other universes using alien magic, or had reached this potential through completely natural means, though again, they are not unaffected.

Primal Earth, for the most part, reverts to being an almost completely mundane world. Heroes take off their masks, villains are reduced to thugs, and the world as a whole takes steps towards rebuilding in this new reality.

There is a future to be forged.

  20. ANYTHING!

It would be good, regardless. Best dev team I think I have ever seen.

I secretly hope that at least some of them decide to get together and form a new studio. It has happened many times in the history of video games, and said groups have developed some of the best games ever made.
  21. DCUO SUCKS

I've never been more disappointed in a game. How you can play that tiny, repetitive trashpile of a game is beyond me.
  22. Yeah.. though that said, I would love for a lot of them to get together and form a new development studio. It's happened before, and such teams have produced some amazing work.
