  1. Sept 19 turned off/expired all box codes, so I wouldn't be surprised if it turned off/expired all costume codes as well.

The upcoming Marvel game isn't really an MMO; it's more like a multiplayer Diablo with licensed superhero characters instead of generic classes. I dunno about you but if I'm playing Wolverine, I don't like the idea that I can run into 30 other Wolverines in the world (granted there are "customization options" (as in a few different alternate full-body costumes), but they're still all Wolverine). If the gameplay didn't already turn me off (not a huge top-down dungeon crawler fan), that would turn me off.
  3. It has happened off and on at random to free/premium players since Freedom launched.
  4. Invasions. Bleh. Having to stop doing whatever I'm doing in a zone to stand underneath a building awning was annoying.

I haven't gotten an email either. And I usually get each email in triplicate.

Well, I got their spam about Blade & Soul, which I have no interest in (didn't they learn with Aion that Korean grindfests don't do so well over here?) but I haven't gotten anything about City, refunds, or anything like that.

I applied an AE code to my second account last night and it worked fine. It's now VIP.

The Master Account page looks the same between my two accounts, with no subscription end date supplied for either. I don't know whether that means they'll both stay VIP to the end or what.

5,000 of those views are probably your own gleeful refreshing of your troll thread.

If there are box codes you haven't applied, those can be used to renew VIP. They're generally stupid-cheap on Amazon.

I have heard mixed results from game time cards so can't recommend them with clear conscience.
  9. AP33 permanently added to every server. A statue of a hero with a torch replacing the braziers on either side of the steps to City Hall. (Figure out how to utilize doppelganger tech to make it a random character from the server's database!) Plaques on the vertical surface to the sides of the steps, below the braziers (future statues).

    Still standing strong. AP334E!

So you don't believe the comments from two different rednames that things were happening? Nice going there.
  12. I stopped watching the video and let the song play on in the background while I browsed back to the City forums. lololol
  13. I haven't seen anyone else saying they were billed - heck, there are reports of staying VIP after their sub ended - so I would contact support.

Your NCsoft account management page should have no end date on your subscription, which means it shouldn't have billed you.

I was "lucky" enough to get billed on Aug 28th (great timing!) for my monthly fee, so I still have a couple weeks to worry about whether I will be one of the lucky remain-VIP ones or one of the unlucky ones who dropped to Premium. Seems to be a crapshoot whether you stay VIP.

Thanks! I am kind of excited about it. When we were discussing dates, we were like... Labor day weekend? No that's PAX... Halloween? No I want to go out for that... November? No too close to Thanksgiving... Then I had a lightbulb moment and he looked at me funny and asked what was up. I was like... "BEST IDEA EVER. Talk like a pirate day is in September, which is in the fall, which is what we wanted, SO WE COULD TOTES HAVE A PIRATE WEDDING".

Next day he posts to Facebook, "I have the best fiance ever because who else would let me look for pirate gear for my wedding?"

    it's sort of unclear.
@Aggelakis is marrying @Iceworm, next week, on Sept 19th, which is Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Yes! It is pirate themed. I am more a corsetted tavern wench than a pirate lass, but it's appropriate; Iceworm went whole hog and got the whole costume shebang, down to a cutlass and flashbang pistol. Our friend doing the ceremony is dressing up like an era-appropriate officiant.

We have encouraged costumes from the peanut gallery. My brother looks rather like Johnny Depp so is coming dressed appropriately. I am highly amused!

What an awesome idea. I will have to pitch that to @Iceworm tomorrow.

The only thing I've been able to do is log in for the Unity Rally and parking my character in the various Atlas Parks for vigil. I haven't been able to actually play the game. Each time I try, I end up feeling a little nauseous. I've cried more in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years.

I'm almost 30. "It's just a game." (But it's not. Not anymore. It is part of my life - my relationship with this game and this community is older than some of my family members.)
  19. Leo, you could read a statistics textbook and I would remain entertained.

Also your tutorial is good. >.>
  20. I am getting married on Talk Like a Pirate Day.

  23. Energy Transfer. That power was amazing and I *loved* bashing things in the face with my hand. I used it so much that I somewhat regularly killed myself with it (I tend to play pretty fast and loose, without much regard for my personal safety).

Red Dead was EFFING AMAZING. I never played it myself, but I sat for HOURS watching my fiance play, because it was like watching an epic frikken movie. So amazing.
  25. Feel free to not purchase NCsoft products. Feel free to badmouth NCsoft. But stop badmouthing a game (GW2) and company (ArenaNet) that had nothing to do with the shutdown. Don't take your hurt over City's sunset out on ArenaNet. That's their livelihood. Try it before you bash it.

In all honesty, it's a really great game and I haven't had as much fun as I'm having there since playing City. It's a completely different look and feel, but I'm having fun in there. It's a good home while I am too hurt to play City without feeling nauseous.
