Quote:I think it's more to do with the optimization codes they're adding to the last couple of training room patches.Theory: the Training Room will become the VIP server once Freedom hits, and that is why it's being stressed to see how many players it can handle.

Well, 12 character slots are a day 1 purchase. 7 are earmarked for characters already.
Costume slot purchases as and when.
Enhancement trays, maybe.
Costumes and power sets will be the main thing purchased. Maybe, just maybe, some of the AT-O's for some characters too. -

Quote:Similar, here. I can't bring myself to play on any server that isn't Union. I've tried, but my friends, my SG and all that are there, as well as my main RP hang outs.Brandx,
Heh. You dont know me very well, do you? Options exist, but not for me. I'm trapped in here with me and I can't get out! It is not for nothing that I am known among friends as "quirkman".

48 character slots would be good. 60 character slots would be great. I'd even buy 72.
As for the topic... to be honest?
I'm starting to get anticipation burn out. I have the ideas for characters all in my head, but they're stuck there till Freedom Launches. I want to play them and thus other characters I currently have I'm not playing. Information comes out as a trickle every here and there, and there are big questions that I'd love to know the answers for but don't, and the devs don't have them or can't give them yet. (The main one being the pricing for EU players for Paragon points. $5 = 400 Paragon Points, but if £5 = 400 Paragon Points I'm getting shafted by about 260 points in dollars worth at current exchange rates. If they can say for definite that it's going to be your currency converted to $5 or and equivalent price in your currency (so in this case £3 for 400 points or £5 for 660 points) I'd rest easier.) -
Good to see Cass from Outcasts has found himself in another BBC Sci-fi show. Can't wait, truth be told.
-
The formula is n/3+(n/12) where n equals the highest number on your veteran badges.
So in my current case:
75/3+(75/12)
25+6.25 = 31 Paragon Reward Tokens (Any decimals get rounded down) -
It's been bugged for me on my Inv/SS Tanker, Hero. I sent a petition and was awarded the badge after GMs looked at the logs.
-
Cardiac is my one true love. It makes sets more playable because you have more endurance to work with, and as such can attack for longer, run more toggles, so on.
-
It was all right, I preferred the issue 20 trailer though, it had a bit more coherence to it than "Look at this, and this, and this, and this." And the Time Manipulation spot told me nothing of the set other than 'Swirly line effects occur!'

Zortel's Facepalming Pointers:
1: You have to have a Facebook account. Make one with as little personal info as possible if you're concerned about privacy issues.
2: 'Like' the City of Heroes Facebook Page
3: Under the City of Heroes Freedom banner on the left is a list of options. Click More at the bottom, then go down to Promotions and click on it.
4: You will get a code come up that can be copy and pasted into your Enter A Serial Code page on the NCSoft Account page.
-(For EU Players Only:
Click on the International Code Link in the bottom right corner, this will change the code in the bar to one for EU accounts. The code will not work otherwise.)-
5: Apply it to the account you want. Warning: You can only get one code per the terms and conditions, so choose wisely.
6: Ta-Da! If all is done right, you can Facepalm with ease. -
Beam Rifle?! Street Justice?! Do Want. Hope to see footage/pictures!

My characters care about their own storyline which I fit into the overarcing game storyline.
For a Praetorian Example, during the recent Praetorian invasion, Maxi Pound and Zahir Rolando had a falling out. They're both PPD members who were in an incident with a Powers Division member, and Marshand offered to send them to Primal Earth to try in some small way to prevent further conflict.
When the Imperial Defence Force invaded, Zahir wanted to stay hunkered down, worried about reprisals if he stood against the IDF and later went home. Maxi on the other hand wanted to defend the city they had found friends and opportunities in, and struck him in order to get past him to fight.
The Hollowing as another example is quite important to several of my characters, of similar ages who were there at the time of the Hollowing. Several banded up and stayed in the zone, using their mutant abilities to fight off the various groups vying for power in there, but eventually they grew up and moved on into other professions and areas of the city.
The destruction of Galaxy City will affect a lot of my characters, and I'm hoping will inspire an existing NPC to heroism. -
Quote:Another problem is that blueside contacts from before i6 or so give out arcs and missions in a very weird manner.I always wanted to be able to introduce my contacts to my teammates. That way we could co-op the missions and all get the ending experience and reward merits.
The only problem I see with the merits/mission reward is that it could end up being way more than the arc's reward (I'm looking at you Praetorian arcs).
Should this have been in the Suggestion forum?
In Steel Canyon, you could have Contact A or Contact B give Story Arc 1. If someone had Mission 1 of Story Arc 1 from Contact A, and another player had Mission 1 of Story Arc 1 from Contact B, if they completed them at the same time on the same team, one player would not get completion credit, as they came from different contacts.
In some cases, notable Stephanie Peebles on Striga Isle, she gives out the same arc, but jumbles the missions up at a certain point.
Even in City of Villains there is this issue, for example Mongoose can give out random missions that make it difficult to sync up characters levelling through the (IMO superior) 'mini'-arcs that CoV uses.
And this continues from beyond that point in time as well.
Detective A and Detective B give Safeguard Mission 1 to Character ? and !, respectively. They're teamed, complete it, one will not have their mission completed because they came from two separate contacts.
Of course, story-wise, there is another issue with the early CoH arc writing that persists from 1-50, with only a few having seem some revision.
The style of the storytelling is much difference. Some arcs lack character and tone because they come from several different contacts. They're padded with annoying missions like zone kill X of Y's, and Outdoor Map Kill Alls. Some missions seem just tacked on to make the slog longer rather than expand story. Some use basic maps over and over again.
These are all things that really need to be seen to. You can repaint the game/cafe all you want, but if it's serving large chunks of the same old stale menu, people are going to stick to the bits they like or find another place to eat. -
I'd love to see a new splash page tied to the Signature Story Arc du mois, as a way to showcase:
A: The Signature Story Arc of the moment
B: The progression of story in the game (Or the 'Hey, look, new story every month!' dance)
3: Various characters involved in the lore
: Something to look forwards to every first of the month!
$: A way to tempt Freemium players to go 'I want a slice of that pie, here's Ol Abe to get it for me.' -
First, there's the input. Power Sets, Costumes, customization options, combinations of primary and secondaries, inherents. Then there's there's ideas witnessed elsewhere from other media and so forth.
This all enters the proving grounds of the imagination, and is whirled around with other memories of characters and ideas that haven't quite worked, been scrapped or wanting different interpretations on. A proto-idea is formed and sent to the proving grounds:
Proving Ground 1: Mid's Hero Planner. Gives me a basic idea of the progression of abilities, the scope, and what to expect. This gives me a basis to work on.
Proving Ground 2: The costume screen, this is where ideas are formed and moulded into a proper character.
Proving Ground 3: The powers screen. They're tweaked here to look just so.
Finally, we get onto the name section. An idea will be in my head at this point, be applied, and then suddenly, bang! A character is formed.
Generally, through play the rest of the character ideas will fall into place and I'll end up with a nice character. Otherwise, they get scrapped if it turns out they don't 'work' well with what I intended. -
Zortel (0) - Energy/Energy/Force Blaster - Alpha Unlocked, not slotted.
Rushmore. (+1/+3) - Stone/Stone/Earth Tanker - Alpha T3, Judgement T3, Interface T3, Lore T3, Destiny T3
Cindersnap (+1) - Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster - Alpha T3, Judgement T2, Interface T2, Destiny T2. -
Zorielle 'Zortel' Rolando was in her Skyway City warehouse/lab/workshop celebrating the completion of the prototype Zortel suit. When the attack began, she donned it to fight the RIkti and protect her warehouse, and in the battle heavy damage to the warehouse caused her to lose her partner, and injuries later sustained fighting the Rikti took her out for the rest of the duration of it.
Nathan Connors was in the White Plains with the U.S. Army, and thanks to his metahuman abilities survived the loss of his platoon and the massive damage caused by Statesman crashing a Rikti mothership into the area.
Wernher 'Nachtbrecher' Alstom, Kerstin 'Hochstapler' Holl, Gail Morton, Isaiah Creed and Masugn were working covert ops for the U.S. Government, as well as moving classified documents and materials.
Solomon 'Mister Ephemeral' Karos was fighting off the Rikti with his magic, alongside the other magically empowered heroes. As an attaché to the FBSA's MAGI division, he was in the front lines of combat.
The Moral (VI) and The Proverb (Who is now The Moral VII) were aiding people escape using knowledge of tunnels, passages and other covered exits.
Azure Arrow was in Los Angeles helping out his home city. -
Quote:I really like the Freedom Phalanx novel for that. Also, I'd love to see the Three Sisters restaurant in game.Skyway doesn't even have any skyways.
In the Freedom Phalanx novel, Skyway came off as this slightly decaying art deco landscape of glass walk ways and express lifts between grand buildings studded with broadcast communications towers and dishes. Kind of a juxtaposition of the Jet Age promise that never was with the grim reality of 1980's urban tech sprawl.
In-game, it's a gray oversized zone with huge, ugly, mostly empty highways that don't go anywhere.
Yeah.

My bet is on Incarnate Fragments, Solar Merits and Celestial Merits as the next tier. Because there will be a next tier, because the devs seem to like more currencies.
That'd just be for the next four. Afterwards, for Omega? Incarnate Remnants, Commendation of the Well, Grace of the Well, a similar system as to Shards. -
A problem with this would be that it'd mean there'd be no way for Vigilantes or Rogues to do this, as they don't get access to Hero or Villain Merits.

Dang, I got it for my second account for £13.99 during the Steam Summer Sales. :<
Ah well! -
Give the Pyro a Vanguard Axe!

Off-topic: It's probably something you inherited from our language filter, its UK meaning is a slang word for the outdated medical term for 'mongoloid features' which was attributed to those with Down's Syndrome. Some of the elderly still use it.
-
Quote:I can't stand the normal mapped face. They look shiny, the definition of the features seems off to me, and at some angles they just don't look right. The faces we had added in one of the earlier issues? Those I like. Skin tone, perfect. Nice features, varied, doesn't look like someone's buffed, waxed and polished their face.I suspect the almost violently negative reaction the Steampunk faces got - and the blood red lips were a hot topic - is part of why these went away. I personally HATED the red lipstick on that face, as I hate red lipstick of this kind on any face irrespective of how well it's done, especially when it's not recolourable, but then I hate the face for a variety of other reasons, the harsh shadows of the normal mapping shader being a big part, so just removing the red lips won't really help much.
