Quote:They were. Then the cut-and-paste of doom happened and all references to them were gone. The Council came in and took over from the... what? Council?!I seem to recall the 5th Column being mentioned on the plaque under Atlas' statue. Or am I hallucinating that?
The timeline has been restored:
1. Nazi WWII 5th Column came to the U.S.
2. Nazi WWII 5th Column went underground after WWII.Quote:As the 1st Hero Brigade gathered for its send off in Liberty Plaza, the ground shook with a tremendous roar and a preternatural blackness blocked out the sun. Up from beneath he city streets came Nazi Super soldiers wearing the red and black uniforms that would soon become feared up and down the Eastern seaboard: the Fifth Column had made itself known. The Nazi troops had been in hiding ever since the December 7th attacks, waiting for a chance to strike again. This time, the villains did not have so easy a time. The fighting First Brigade rose to the occasion and won the first of many epic battles against Nazi forces both at home and abroad. Beaten but not defeated, the Fifth Column fled back into hiding, only to return time and again over the next four years. As for the 1St Hero Brigade, they shipped off to Europe to take the fight straight to the enemy.
3. A successor group with THE SAME NAME and the SAME ABHORRENT PHILOSOPHY (<Church Lady>hmmm.. wonder what that might be... what abhorrent philosophy could these so called ' ' 5th Council ' ' be harboring... could it be... I don't know.... NAZISM??!!!</Church Lady>) reappears in Paragon in modern times.Quote:Just as victory over the Axis powers seemed assured, disaster struck at home. While heroes on the home front bravely fought against the nearly defeated Fifth Column, another, more terrifying threat was sinking its tendrils into the American Dream. The super villain known as Nemesis... Although Nemesis lost, he had done great damage and, more significantly, ushered in a new era for super powered heroes the world over and in Paragon City particularly. With the defeat of the Axis powers, the disappearance of the Fifth Column, and the crippling blows organized crime had received before the war, Paragon City had suddenly become a remarkably safe place to live.
4. The Kheldian backed Council, another *fascist* WWII era group, but only based in Italy, not Germany, take over the 5th. Note the ' ' take over ' ' part and not ' ' replace ' '.
5. Some of the 5th Column pull a 5th Column on The Council and operate within The Council biding time until...
6. The 5th Column come back, under Reichsman, who is a... wait for it.... **NAZI!!**.
That's not what the OP was getting at. The OP assumed NDA = Hype. -

The 5th Column has always been a group that came to the US from Germany controlled by Hitler.
If they're not 'Nazis', then words no longer have meaning and fish fish fish fish. -
Quote:Build your Exemplar build around level 32. Five or six frankenslot all the powers up to level 32. After 32, only pick utilitarian powers that can be one slotted (Vengeance, Teleport, etc...). Since exemplaring severely reduces the effectiveness of an enhancement, you want to over-slot, i.e., get numbers in the 150% level and higher.Man I want more build slots. My tank has a level 50 PVP build, a level 50 tank build, and an exemplar. The exemplar build has to cover every level range, pvp, solo, tanking. Don't even have anything good for level 50 soloing or offensive tanking.
If you do that, such a lowbie build will suit you for everything up to level 46. A level 47 and above, switch to your 50 build.
At least, that has been my experience. -
Assumption: NDA = Hype.
ASSUMPTION PHAIL!!
The NDA was because they were bringing on player testing for things showing up a full 6 months before release. Leaks that early can tip off competitors to do something to steal the thunder. Whether or not you or anyone thinks the thunder is thunderous or not is besides the point. When you are involving non-employees in beta testing that early in the cycle, you never want a leak. Ever. Thus, a signed NDA.
Thinking that was simply a marketing ploy is failed thinking.
Then to throw up a rant base on a wrong assumption is double fail.
If one simply asked, "Why the NDA in the first place?", then one would have actually looked cleverly inquisitive. -

Quote:When you say, 'another tab', what do you mean? Every clickable button (Account, Notes, Support, Store, etc...) opens up a browser. You know what would be really helpful and a great way to push that new NCsoft Launcher they've been pushing recently? If they put the US and EU server status screen on the actual Launcher, as another tab for City of Heroes, City of Heroes Test and City of Heroes Beta.
It makes sense, doesn't it? When you want to play, you launch the NCsoft Launcher, and one of the primary things you need to be sure of is that the servers are up. Well, right now you have to fire up a browser and check on the official site, or otherwise just try to log in and get bounced.
Doesn't it make sense to put something this important on the Launcher itself?
When I click on Server Status, in just one second (I timed it), my Firefox browser opens and I'm looking at server status. -
When Lawrence Olivier plays Zeus in Clash of the Titans and the current crop of serious, dramatic, Shakespearean British actors fall over themselves to have a cameo in a Harry Potter movie... it's a long standing tradition to take a paycheck.

Excellent!
But, I don't mind the colors and size changes too much (with size, CTRL+MouseWheel easily fixes that)... it's when there's a huge block of text in stupid font (see Producer's Letter) that I want to force the default font. I tried editing the script so that it only forces a font change but not color or size, but couldn't get it to work.
If it's not to much trouble, could you please whip up a script that only prevents font change?
And now, the Gettysburg Address in Impact... -

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Exemplar...n_Enhancements
Any level 50 IO is going to have it's effectiveness cut down to about 55% of its effectiveness at level 50. So, if you had 3 IOs in PA, you need 6 for the same effectiveness.
So, look at what you have in PA: you have 102% Recharge before ED and a 6.25% global IO Set Recharge bonus. At level 20, the 102% becomes 56.1%. Add in the bonus and PA is at 62.35% Recharge (plus the other global recharges which I'm ignoring for the moment). Now, if you put in 6 Recharge IOs, you get 137.7% after the exemplar cut which is then 100.7% after ED. This is much higher than going for an IO Set.
Since the lowest level LotG:+Rech is 25 and Synapse exemplars you to 20, you're more than 3 levels under the IO... so they would be useless.
With 100.7%, you need another 199.3% (it's 300% total recharge for Perma-PA, right?) in Global recharge.
Since the exemplar cut is cutting into Hasten and Accelerate Metabolism, too, making them no longer Perma... I don't think you'll be able to do it. -

Quote:Not right now. Shards only drop for defeating level 50+ foes.I mean, it can't. I've gotta run the WST go get the Whatever of the Well and I'm not going to be getting shards?
Really?
[edit: hey, you can't correct spelling mistakes in the title. who knew.]
Come I20 (sometime next week), Shards will drop for any level 50 character with Alpha Slot unlocked defeating any foe their combat level or higher, even when exemplared down. -

Boy, all you people who are so clever that you can't be fooled and post about it, you're just soooo clever!
I can just see you at the second story window...
"Meredith! Meredith! Up here! All your family and friend are hiding inside to throw you a surprise party! I just want to let you know, that *I* am not surprised!"
You really know how to go along with a joke. Very, very clever! -
When a server-wide zone invasion event begins, they usually start off with the attacks on the zones in sync with each other. Over the course of the day, it should get more randomized.

It ticks me off to no end to try to pass a wakie to a 'dead' teammate but can't because their inspiration tray is full.
YOU DIED WITH A FULL INSPIRATION TRAY? DO YOU KNOW IF YOU USED THE INSPIRATIONS, YOU MAY BE ALIVE RIGHT NOW??!

Real-time reflections are a huge fps hit.
Fakey reflections from an invisible cube of a low-rez 'painting' much easier.
Here's an example of a cube map that might show up in a reflection:
-
1. Update your characters on Mids.
2. Browse the ParagonWiki.
3. Edit the ParagonWiki.
4. Pay your base rent on the Test servers.
5. Contact loved ones and let them know you'll be heading back into prolonged non-communication with them when the servers come back soon. -
...its impact is ruined by pre-April Fools warning threads like these... and by people who think they're being 'coy' by responding to an April Fools prank with posts like, "Gee... wonder what today's date is?"
What part of 'joke' and/or 'prank' do people not understand?
"And, now, ladies and gentlemen, so that you're not surprised by it, I'm about to deliver the punchline of this joke I'm telling which some of you may understandably have been confused into thinking that I was relating the details of an actual event..." -
If it were I20 already, the traveling for Renault would be trivially easy with a Black Helicopter in Sharks going to Kalinda or the other side of Mercy and a Black Helicopter right there at Agincourt in Nerva. You're welcome.
