Honestly, I'm gonna say this... I liked 4 more than 3.
(not that either hold a candle to 1 or 2) -
Quote:Arachnos has the benefit of using a lot of things such as mind links, clairvoyance and the like on a regular basis. While there may be a lot of infighting, the Patrons do seem to pull together in an actual fight and would likely be able to appease their troops while they do it.see i have to agree with daemo that one handicap that people keep forgetting is that arachnos is plagued with infighting. contrary to what crap writers would tell you, that makes an army really really weak. that kind of undercuts their effectiveness versus the more organized longbow, vanguard and idf.

Quote:I should have gone back and read the whole post. But that's pretty much the official reason why there hasn't been a war as far as I'm aware, simply because no side would be unscathed. It's better just to leave the whole thing as a cold-ish war.Okay, should have included the other sentence about invading Paragon City, which does seem to be a popular hobby for the villains of CoH. Yeah, in a schoolyard-style, neutral territory fight, I think Arachnos would likely win, although more on account of their crazy tech, and not so much because they would be more cutthroat.
There's only so much 'invading US soil' the president is going to allow before the army got involved. My guess is that 'so much' is likely 'none'. -
They are also designed to be a defence force too. Calling one a Scrub Bot (its primary purpose) is better PR than calling it Flame Thrower Bot.
-
Longbow is only tangentially approved by America. I'd expect if push came to shoved into war, the US would rather cut ties with Longbow that be dragged into war with Arachnos. Okay, Arachnos might not win, but considering some of the stuff some villains can do and the things Recluse has at his finger tips, it wouldn't be without the loss of at least a few more US cities I'd imagine.

Quote:Really? I would have assumed Lore-wise that Longbow would have the least numbers of the 4 groups since they are a borderline illegal civilian run paramilitary force created from volunteers.Longbow's greatest strength is numbers, since they have a limitless supply of spandex-clad lackeys to hurl into combat. It feels like their motto is "you can kill it if you have enough gatling guns, flamethrowers and grenade launchers" which doesn't hold too steady in the comic world.
Unlike say, Arachnos which is likely conscription based and has an entire (if small) country to pull from. Vanguard which I believe is UN backed and the IDF who have an entire (if mostly destroyed) world to back it up... also it's mostly made up of robots. -
!!!!!! I loved this show as a kid. I don't have many of my childhood shows on DVD, Batman: The Animated Series and Sonic the Hedgehog are two exceptions. This will be joining them I think.
Edit: Or at least I will if they ever get released in the UK... -
Quote:Supposedly, elements of that will come in, characters will use their special abilities (such as Sub-Zero's ice powers) and they will be magical in nature. At least, that was the idea when it was being pitched as a film. Who knows now. It's an interesting take on the MK mythos to be sure.
I'm not terribly sure I like it though. The whole idea now seems to be to turn the MK thing into a Cops V Criminals to save the city thing and that's an interesting approach but it gets away from the MK story quite a bit.
Personally I like the inter-dimensional, Outworld and Edenia at war and Earth gets involved sort of stories. But Turning the Outworlders like Reptile and Baraka into homicidal maniacs instead.... It could be interesting but I just don't know.
Scorpion seems to have re-tained his back from the dead and out for Sub Zero, status, that could be cool. -
Interesting, hope it can be watched by us international viewers. Looking forward to it.

Quote:Because if it does well, Marvel gets a truck load of money?Good grief, It makes you wonder why Marvel hypes up the film as much as it does in conjunction with Columbia
We wouldn't be getting the recent Marvel created films if it wasn't for the money off of the Spidey and X-Men films allowing Marvel to set up their own studio. -
Wow, I started a bit of a snowball there.
Gender neutral eh? That's kind of odd... especially (as other have pointed out) "they" and "their" are already accepted.
Also, "hir" is probably the worst possible concept for being gender neutral since when spoken it would be identical to "her"... *baffled*
Personally, I've always used "they" and "their" when referring to posters I don't know the genders to and I've always gone with toon gender in game (unless, again, I know their actual gender).
Just goes to show that some people will make a big deal out of anything. -
Quote:Emphasis mine.
The final straw for me may have been the exchange I had last night with a "50" where I sent hir a message that sie had a few typos in hir background, and helpfully provided the corrections. Sie replied that if sie wanted someone to edit hir background text sie would ask over Global, and that I was now welcomed to (and I quote) "iggy." I was taken aback by the sheer sour rudeness, and it ruined all my sense of enjoyment for the evening.

Of course, people still don't trust nuclear power. There's no way they'll trust anti-matter, since even a single anti-proton will start a chain reaction that will destroy the whole of the earth!
Yes, I'm being factitious.
Basically, what I'm saying is, if a power source is ever developed, expect it to never be developed properally because of the lunatic fringe. -
Eh, trying to update the costume smacks of trying to hard.
I'm not going to say it's a bad take on the costume, but the first 3 films got it 100% perfect, so anything will be a step down.
I still can't believe they are rebooting, rather than just forging ahead. -

I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I wouldn't be surprised, he had a horrific reaction to the make-up they had him wear that made his experience on the films rather miserable. -
Quote:Without commenting on the guy at all, I don't think someone having their purse snatched or someone about to be stabbed really cares about morality or "socioeconomic factors."
he’s clearly not equipped to do more than react to crime, rather than deal with the root causes.
While he may be able to chase down a purse snatcher or break up a bar fight, it seems highly unlikely that he has the ability to, say, get a 14-year-old girl out of a life of prostitution and into therapy and a stable home life.
Jones’ costumed heroics are ultimately rooted in comic book morality where crime is all about black and white/good and evil, with no gray areas or contributing socioeconomic factors.
You heard it here first guys, if you see someone getting mugged, just let it happen, since you won't actually be getting to the true root of the problem or anything. -
Quote:Isn't part 2 meant to take place between Hobbit and Fellowship? That would certainly explain people returning.Quote:No, the Hobbit takes place 60 years before the events of Fellowship of the Ring.
Now, I might be wrong on that account, but I know my book chronology. -
