You disagree when I say that armor sets and buff sets are much better than blaster secondaries? I guess any chance I had at keeping my credibility in your eyes never really existed in the first place.
-
How about a blaster/stalker cross called the Sniper, corruptor damage/hp? The specialty could be an automatic Sniper Attack critical if hit from stealth
-
Shock Therapy in the Tips missions fits the bill, too. It's pratically impossible to fight her as a boss with any energy-based set...
-
Quote:Yes, but that's not really saying much, since all blaster secondaries are designed to be crap, essentially build-up + 8 skippable powers. Any corruptor secondary would outshine every single blaster secondary in the game, even /energy. Comparing /traps to /devs is really like comparing /devs to /willpower, which only goes to show how poorly designed blasters are.Well, if by 'awesome' you mean 'weaker than every other blaster secondary', then I guess I can see your point..
I'm preaching to the fishes, but what the devs could do to buff /devs is at least look at overlapping powers between it and other sets in the game, making sure there aren't any significant discrepancies - things like the range in webnade, or the fact that cloaking device's stealth and defense bonus surpress in /devs but not in /energy armor's energy cloak.
But to answer the original poster - all blaster secondaries are crap, so it's not like there's anything wrong with just using your primary and pools anyway. If you really want to play /devs, go nuts! -
Webnade in /traps, 70' range.
Webnade in /devs, 50' range.
You gotta love the double standards -
They could just add alternate animations to /energy, like martial arts kicks or superstrenght punches instead of the pompoms. Problem solved?
-
Would be nice, but for me the best possible buff for Forcefields would be a minimal FX option on Dispersion Bubble.
-
Love it, and it'd play very different from energy blast - beams rather than bolts, plus disorient instead of knockback.
Me, I'd make it Eyebeam Blast, however -
Quote:
- New Powersets: Staff Melee (Scrapper/Tank/Brute/Stalker), Pulse Rifle (Blaster/Defender/Corruptor), and Martial Manipulation (Martial Arts Secondary for Blasters)
- Allow MM pets as critters in AE missions so we can put them in custom groups.
- Epic pool, Patron pool, power pool, and MM pet customization.
- Revamp Boomtown, Dark Astoria, Crey's Folly, and Eden as Co-op zones where heroes and villains have their own contacts and are at cross purposes with one another.
- More varied Judgment abilities.
- Revamp 1-20 level content for Blueside and Redside to be more inline with current technology. Cut out excessive Defeat Alls and fetch quests. Begin revamping of all old Blueside content.
- Start revamping zones with current tech, eventually bring down the warwalls. Bring Paragon City and the Rogue Isles up to the standard set by Praetoria.
- Revamp Costume Creator UI to be more user friendly and organized.
- And of course, more costume stuff.

It kinda reminds me of the expectations I had from when dual blades came out. There was no demo at character creation screen back then, you had to level to see what powers looked looked like. I remember thinking of Thousand Cuts and going giddy, could it be omnislash? Then when I finally hit lvl 32 I got shadow maul with swords... -
The defender version of Psy blast is really good, tho, you should try rolling one instead

Please do something about the red lag spikes. The game is nearly unplayable right now, and it all started on 24/5, right after the patch.
Edit: EU player here -
Quote:Sounds to me like what you really want is an option in the graphics setting that allows you to shut down external buff's animations and bright colors. Shouldn't you be petitioning for that instead of trying to argue a point that most people, including the devs, don't agree? So there you are, playing a game you're perfectly fine with and have been fine with for years. Someone applies a power to you you haven't been hit with before.
*Bam*
Migraine. Siezure. Whatever the case may be.
It's not "powers blasting, masterminds, enemies all over the place." It's often ONE power, which - in the case of Barrier - you may not have been exposed to before, in hundreds to thousands of hours of playing.
So, no, "So maybe you should just unsub and go away" is not an answer. Getting the graphics fixed is. Being able to avoid the issue by *not* having said graphic applied to you is. "Leave" is not.
My *suggestion* for you is, before making such a statement again, you actually learn a bit about the issue instead of making assumptions and pronouncements. It's not like this is new information. -
Good news. Well, for me, anyway
Too bad about clear mind being left out, tho... -
I thought this show was alot like cowboy bebop, a bunch of space cowboys stuck together on a rusty old ship trying to scrape enough fuel to get to the next port
-
I have the same impression as you, Samuel, at least concerning vanilla Paragon City.
I think the devs forgot about their own little rule of balancing +1 spawns around the CoV launch, meaning anything designed after that no longer holds to that rule (like 40-50 content and things like the Hollows). Praetoria is no different, which is one of the reasons it seems so much harder than hunting hellions for Azuria in Atlas park. -
Quote:I don't think interface bugs count as a challenge in my book. If I can't harm them, why am i even tab targetting them as enemies?/unsigned for the reasons brought up previously in threads about this topic.
I like having them and adds a little challenge to an already easy game.
Do you perceive the lag in BAF as a challenge as well? -
Me, I think all epic pool powers should have an alternate weapon animation that doesn't require redraw. How cool would it be to point your sword forward and let it shoot a lightning bolt
Same with Mace Mastery, just animate it using whatever weapon the player's currently holding, be it a gun, a sword or a bow. Concept-wise, the player just needs to install Mace technology into his favorite weapon, anyway. -
Quote:Nukes aren't available only on blasters, corruptors and defenders have them too. Anyway, examples of toggles:There are those toggles again. What toggles are you running on your Blaster?
Blaster (En/Dev) - Cloaking Device, Targetting Drone, Combat Jumping, Acrobatics, Tough, Weave, Charged Armor. That's seven toggles, and around 10 secs worth of retoggling once I get a bit of endurance back. If I use a nuke, they all crash. Without them, my defence plummels, I lose all of my s/l damage resistance (which is over 50%), I lose my +tohit, I lose my protection against immob, hold and knockback, I lose my unsurpressed travel power (jumping around), and I'll no longer be invisible once the fight ends.
Defender (Rad/Rad) - Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, Hover, Maneuvers, Assault, Tactics, Tough, Weave, Temp Invulnerability. That's 9 toggles and around 15 secs worth of retoggling once I get a bit of endurance back. If I use a nuke, they all crash. It's even worse here, because not only am I directly affected by the loss of the toggles, but my entire team is suddenly facing whoever survived the nuke without my team buffs or enemy debuffs, which regardless take at least 8 secs to recharge.
Quote:And if you do have toggles that are critical to your continuing survival, then don't use your nuke.
"I don't use my nuke because it's useless to me",
"What? It's very useful, but you shouldn't use your nuke",
"I won't, because my nuke is useless to me",
"Good, it's very useful, but you shouldn't use your nuke". -
Quote:I don't see how different this is from using spines in a tuxedo, if the player wants it, why not? Anyway, just disable this option on Martial arts, like you disable capes if you pick trenchcoats, problem solved. Everything else seems to work with robes, and they'd look prettee cool on my hooded dual pistol assassinThese aren't in the game due to the wide variety of animations in the game. Imagine how horrible a long robe or a long skirt would look while you're doing something like Storm Kick or Eagle's Claw.
They were tried, and they looked like crap, so they didn't put them in. (heard this from Jay the costume guy) -
This would be great. I hate soloing on low level defenders and be stuck facing orange lieutenant ambushes that I simply cannot defeat without popping all my inspirations.
While you're at it, could the fortunatas and hero corps have an option not to spawn Void seekers, similar to the don't spawn bosses? -
Quote:a) There's a 16 target cap on nukes, full team spawns generally have 24 mobs, leaving at least 8 mobs shooting back at you while detoggled and with no endurance for 15 secs,Considering nukes can rather efficiently destroy entire spawns, I think losing all of your endurance is a fair trade off. Now, whether it's a logical trade off, since if all goes well the mob will be dead anyway and there's nothing stopping you from popping blues/resting to immediately get back all of your endurance, that's another question entirely.
b) Most bosses and many lieutenants can survive nukes, and you just got their full attention plus whoever wasn't hit by the nuke while detoggled and with no endurance for 15 secs,
c) You're detoggled and with no endurance for 15 secs, and even if you pop a blue you'll still need time to retoggle.
Remind me of the trade-off again, is it related to the debt badges? -
Quote:So? I play an energy/devices blaster. That doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate changes to both sets, and in fact I'd welcome those changes.Right. Nobody plays it. My characters have just been automatically and randomly coating themselves in ice, bubbles or flames. Just walking along inside a mission and *poof* I'm in an icy suit. The only way I can get away from it is to solo, and even then I'll find it's happened as I'm going down the street, or in wentworths, or paying SG base rent.
Can't be from people actually playing the sets, nope.
I really don't understand your resistance to the idea of change, Bill, particularly the need to debunk suggestions that are borderline wishful thinking and have 0,001% chance of actually getting implemented. -
Quote:That would be great, but ever since ED the devs have been held hostage by the "no more changes or I'll quit" motto. It didn't help that they tried opening an exception and spent alot of resources for the PvP revamp, which proved quite unpopular.Remove the crash on them entirely, lower the damage and recharge to be comparable to Full Auto and Rain of Arrows. (And I'll specifically NOT include Hail of Bullets in that, there's no real reason for that to have twice the recharge of the other two IMO.) There, suddenly they're good powers like the crashless nukes some sets already have.
The crash mechanic is horrible, but it'll never change. Just do what I do and skip the nuke, use it as a set mule or play the sets that don't have crashing nukes.
