I agree. I think it's one of those things that would take a lot of work to do to not make it suck up server resources, and in the end won't give them much bang for the buck. Maybe I'll be proved wrong, but I highly doubt something like this would happen.

Quote:Again, there's too many characters to do this to, though. The city would be buried in plaques before the day was over. And how do you propose the art team does this if they're permanent changes to the landscape?LoL! I would love to be recognized!!! LoL But the constant change to the landscape would be doable. Think about a plaque here, a water fountain there. Or billboards posting monthly stats!!! The above mentioned crowd would love that!!!
If this was done, it would likely be one or two places throughout the city, and it would show your character only to you. Everyone else would see themselves as the statue. That's probably the only way it could realistically be done, which isn't what most people who suggest this want. -
I'm just hoping that /Poison will work decently with Water Blast. Debuff them and then hit them with water 'til they die. May not be the absolute best powerset combo, but has great concept synergy.

Quote:No, we were never promised this in any way, shape or form. It comes up every once in a while as a player suggestion, but I don't think I've ever seen a Dev comment on it. also, where would this statue go? If it was in the game world, it would be constantly changing with all of the people on needing to be recognized.Seeing the "Statesman statue" thread got me thinking. Were players not promised a statue for there characters based on in game accomplishments? Where the "people of Paragon" would desire a statue of appreciation for your "service"? I know everyone is thinking technicalities, but that would be awesome!

There are currently several threads ongoing about what Blasters need in several parts of the forum. Apparently, changes are coming to the AT, but I doubt it will be about making them sturdier in any way. They are designed as the "glass cannon" of the CoH world.
-
Some comments on each AT:
1: Trickster
What makes this different than a Traps/ anything Defender? This powerset plays exactly like you want this AT to play. They'd even have the ranged powersets to compliment it.
2: Hunter
I think this is the most balanced of your suggestions, and could work with some tweaks.
3: Devourer
They have no attack powers at all? How would they work in a 1-on-1 fight? AoE fights? Remember that most enemies only have 1 or two attacks, so how would that work if your entire powerset was based on using those attacks against the enemy? You need to flesh this out a bit more and keep some of the balance considerations in mind. For instance, how would this AT work at all if you were with a controller who locked down the entire spawn?
4: How would this be different from the current EATs, which have these same power combinations? -
Quote:Haha! Yeah, that guide probably does need updating. The really sad part is that I lobbied for close to three years to get /Ice Melee fixed, playing my Ice/Ice Tanker the whole time. As soon as it got fixed, I stopped playing him as much, even though he was much better. I think I was just tired of the set by then. I could probably still update the guide, though. After years of playing old school MMORPGs, the ones where it could take you 15 minutes of real time to get to a mission, there were three main factors that made me fall in love with City of Heroes: Character Customization, Travel Powers and Recall Friend. It doesn't have quite the utility today that it did when the Shadow Shard was new, but it's still an amazingly useful ability, especially if you've got someone on the team who zones horribly slowly. And it's a power that requires zero enhancement slots... which I always run out of in my quest for more set bonuses.
If I can make a solid attack chain by adding one more attack and not taking Hasten, I will typically go that route. Ice/Ice doesn't really seem to have any sort of big slow power that's needed as often as possible. Greater Ice Sword is currently in the build to make sure I have a continuous attack chain. Since my IO slotting is currently rather bad, I don't really have a good feel for my attack chain yet.
I used Aegis to get the large fire/cold defense bonus, but it never got anywhere near soft-cap so I guess it was not really helping. It doesn't seem like anyone is too alarmed by my lack of fire defense and resistance.
I originally took Icicles at level 12 and was very disappointed with it. The endurance cost is absolutely brutal for the trivial damage it does. If I were soloing, the damage would help me finish fights faster. On a team, Icicles barely nibbles at them before my DPS-obsessed teammates annihilate all the minions. I am considering taking it very late so that I can cover its endurance cost with an alpha slot incarnate power.
As far as Frozen Aura goes, I have never actually had a chance to try it since this character is currently 35. As above, I'm generally content to let my teammates handle the minion-slaughtering AoE DPS. On the other hand, Ice Storm is another power I've never used. If that doesn't work out well, I might replace it with Frozen Aura.
As a side note on the sad state of Ice Melee on the forums. Most of the guides are so old that they actually discuss using Frozen Aura as a mediocre sleep power. Time to update Aett Thorn's Issue 7 Ice/Ice build guide!
Okay, now to the points at hand:
1) GIS is fine if you need it for the attack chain, but as you get better IO slotting that will allow you to chain powers better, drop it as quickly as you can. It's really the only truly bad power left in Ice Melee. If you need another attack, take Air Superiority. It's better. Especially if you just need a chain filler. GIS is horrible DPA for little benefit. At least with AS you get the knockup.
2) As mentioned above, Fire/Cold defense isn't all that necessary. Yes, you will come up against some pure fire-using enemies, but most of their attacks contain some sort of S/L component to them, so you're good there. The only attacks I've seen enemies use against you that are pure cold is Frost, and that is EXTREMELY rare. All other cold attacks have some sort of S/L component as well, and you're 90% resistant to cold anyways, so you're good there.
3) Icicles (and other damage auras) are deceiving. Each hit might be for a small amount, but if you look at combat logs for the whole mission, you will see that if you're facing enough foes, Icicles actually does a large majority of your damage. That's because it's constantly ticking away at foes, even if your teammates are destroying enemies. Also, having the two taunt auras is one of Ice Armor's strengths. It's why Ice Tankers are kings of aggro. However, I can certainly understand why you might not want it, just trying to give you the counterarguments.
4) Frozen Aura is great AoE damage, and helps you maintain aggro on foes. Damage is a key component of Threat, so if you can do AoE damage, the better off you are keeping AoE aggro. Also, if you're not taking Icicles, then when you're solo, you can actually leverage the sleep component from Frozen Aura to some extent. As long as the enemies aren't flopping away on your Ice Patch, the minions will be slept, meaning that you take 0 damage from them until you want to.
So, if you're not getting Icicles AND Frozen Aura (which is what I do recommend), then you should at least take one of them. Once you're level 26, endurance is not a concern for Icicles anyways, since you have Energy Absorption. Though, if you're only taking one or the other, take Frozen Aura. The animation alone is freakin' awesome. -
If you find one, please let me know. I need to login each time I come to the site.

I once tried to get the name "Hymenoptera" for a character, and found that I couldn't get it. Thought that was odd, considering that it's the order name for a bunch of insects, including wasps. I asked a GM about it, and he said that he couldn't tell, but thought it was because it contained the word "hymen" and it was being filtered. I just laughed and moved on.

So assuming one WAS going to take /poison on a corruptor, what's the strategy with it? Stay at range and use those debuffs, going in with poison trap against harder targets? Or mainly focusing on the melee debuffs once you get them, using the ranged debuffs to add additional effects as you can? And particular IOs that can really help the set perform better?

Some suggestions:
Plant/Rad Controller
Dark/Fire Dominator
Fire/Time Corruptor
Fortunata -
Why no Frozen Aura? Why Icicles so late in the build? I would get rid of GIS (it's actually a pretty bad power) and make sure to grab Frozen Aura, which is you're only true AoE attack power. I would also try to get Icicles in there earlier, since that will do a lot of your damage against minions while you're attacking the bosses.

Quote:You have to buy it from the market firstSo ... I finally got a chance to see a video of the Water Blast power set and I love it! I then tried to log on to the Beta Server and it was not there. I checked the Test Server and it was not there either. Did it get taken down? I would really like to try out this power set. Anyone? Any info on the "missing" Water Blast set?

MM Pets do have a damage cap. I don't know what it is off the top of my head, but they do have one.

If I was starting this game from scratch, I think the major change I would make to Blasters is their secondary sets. Like others in this thread, I think they should have more crowd control abilities in their secondaries. Blasters in comics tend to use their various abilities to keep enemies away from them so that they can fight where they want to - at range.
Do I want them to be Dominators? No. I think that a full blast set as a primary would be different enough for that, and then the secondary should be (for most secondaries) 4 melee attacks, 4 crowd control, and Build Up. Obviously, different sets would have different options for different feel, but I think that if they had gone with that formula instead of what we have now, they'd be better off. -
Yeah, from the leaked images I saw, I think the bonuses were roughly the same as the current ones, but I'm betting those will change. At least they had better. If Brutes and Scrappers once again get the better defensive bonuses than Tankers do from the ATOs, I'm going to be mad.
-
I think they were brought up with both the old and the new ways. I mean, the girls had a Septa, but they all seem to pray to the old gods in some form or fashion through the series.

The Devs (and to some extent, the players) just need to finally figure out what EM is supposed to be good at. Because right now, it isn't particularly good at doing anything. Stacking stuns isn't as useful as I think the Devs think it is. And EM isn't great at either sustained single-target DPS or AoE.
I honestly think that EM needs either more AoE OR better ST DPS, but not both. And depending on which direction people think it should go, changed should be made to the same powers: the long-animating Tier 8 and 9 powers.
If EM is supposed to be a ST DPS set, then the animations for these two powers needs to be cut down, and some of the damage front-loaded.
If EM is going to get more AoE, then one of these two powers should become a melee targeted AoE power, like spinning strike is. -
Quote:Tyrion is the Lion. He's grouped in with Connington because he was traveling with him during the time the propechy was made. As such, it made sense to group them. After Tyrion was captured by Jorah and Connington's group discovered how late they truly were, they met up with the Golden Company and sailed west instead of east.
On to another discussion
From Quaithe to Dany
Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and Dark flame, lion and griffin, the suns son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal.
Pale Mare= Plague
Kraken= Victarion
Dark Flame = Moqorro
Lion=
Griffon=Connington
Sun's son=Prince Quentyn
Mummers Dragon=
Perfumed Seneschal=??
If the Lion equals Tyrion, why is he grouped in this with Connington like Victarion and Moqorro. Of course, if Aegon is the mummer's dragon why is he not grouped with Connington?
Is there another Lion running around the eastern lands? For that matter who the hell is that Quaithe lady?
I have no idea.
However, the prophecy being spoken like that makes it unlikely that Tyrion is the mummer's dragon, since it's listed as a different person.
Of course, I don't know why Dany listens to that woman anyways. It seems like by not trusting anyone, she's pretty much screwed herself. -
Short answer: yes.
Long answer: still yes, though it will be lower than Brutes and Scrappers. As long as you are okay with that, you'll be fine. -
Quote:Yes, but that is very out of date (notice that Tundara mentions that Frozen Aura doesn't have a damage component). Here is the guide for ice/ice tanks http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=119243
There should be other builds and guides out there, but I wouldn't used that linked one because it is very old and a lot has changed since it came out to Ice Melee.
