A lot of what was done with Incarnate Threads/Components could easily have been done with Incarnate Experience.
Unlock a slot, then begin levelling up an ability, selecting the branches you want it to grow into. So I could select Cardiac, and set it on a path to level with iXP to whatever.
BAF and Lambda would level your Alpha and then either your Judgement/Lore or Interface/Destiny depending on which you did. Keyes and Underground would level your Alpha, Judgement/Lore and Interface/Destiny.
Astral Merits and Empyrean Merits would be in place for conversion to iXP or to be redeemed for items from the two vendors in Ouroboros.
If you levelled up a branch of Alpha to full, you could select something else to level up so you can switch between them. The iXP can't be hoarded, so there's no issue of rushing new incarnate slots with it. -
Quote:Or play it out of character. If this concept does not fit your RPíng then don't play it. Or adapt your RP to somebody who does fit in. The choice between annoyance or enjoyment is yours here. I personally like the idea of a blustering villain trying to grow wise and powerful during his or her career. Everybody started out as a noob after all.

Quote:Well I'd better get my face laughed at, then!Character concept is subordinate to game rules. Characters in City start as beginners. That happens to not matter in this particular case, but (e.g.) I'd laugh in the face of anyone who tried to RP their level 10 character as anything other than a slightly-experienced rookie.
Dale Drake is a level 13 SR/MA Tanker. But he's a world-travelling martial arts and exercise tutor, who was in Galaxy City on the day the meteors fell. He's decided to stay in the city for a while helping out, and may have to kick a little butt during his stay. Currently he teachers dance-exercise classes at the Hyperion Community Center in Atlas. Reason he holds back in fights? Anger issues. As he works on them and continues his training, he'll be able to unleash more power.
Fuchsia Sands is a level 19 Ninja/Time Mastermind. An old spirit who's come to Paragon as it's on the precipice of great change, and she likes to be about for those things. She's just moved the object of her power into a city building to turn it into a restaurant, and she's still recovering from that to unleash her full abilities. (If she wanted to.)
Zweilichtbrecher is a level 7 Dark/Dark Blaster. A Thule Society member, he fought against the Allied powers in WW2 and as a normal soldier in WW1. He's currently in a weakened state due to bringing his magitech u-boat out of a shadow dimension to the Rogue Isles, to rest up before going after an old ally turned foe.
Azure Arrow is a second gen hero from LA, who moved to Paragon City to prove himself. Why didn't he have access to all the arrows he does now? Some were still in transit, others were created to deal with the challenges he faces as a protector of the homeless and helpless.
Kuromizu Kei (A level 22 BS/SD Scrapper) wound up in Paragon from Japan by magic, when she was actually attempting to get back to the alternate world she and her friends had once found themselves in and became heroes in. Unable to adjust to life as a normal person once she left high school, she tried to get back to the magic suit of power armour and adventures she had. Instead, something drew her (and it) to Paragon, and she's now working with Vanguard to formalize her training, remaster the powers of her weapon suit, and to bring magical hurt to the Rikti.
If every single one of my heroes had to start as a rookie hero, then... that'd honestly be quite boring. Just because the content is there and I've done it, doesn't mean my characters have. Because for one, I'd trust writing for my characters better than a dev who doesn't know them. (Great job getting Adrian's DNA pattern. He's an eight foot tall robot with no biological systems.) For two, if everyone did that we'd run into the I'm Spartacus problem. ("I foiled Doctor Graves." "No, I foiled Doctor Graves!" "You are both wrong, I and my trusty band of scum foiled Doctor Graves!" "Oh yeah? Well, I foiled your mom!")
So, Natasha Sheers, my level 20 Fire/Fire Brute, was in Galaxy City at the time. Did her building come down due to Statesman being knocked into it? No. A meteor fragment impact hit the building she was in, damaging fire escapes. Did she rescue Blue Spectrum? No, she helped to lead a group of fellow reporters and workers in the Serif Accounting firm out to an evac zone. Did she push a giant Shivan back? No, she defeated a few on the street on her way to the evac zone while leading those heroes. Was she new to her powers? No, she'd had them for a good few years now, she just didn't quite have the courage in herself to use them lots without worrying about a mental compulsion to make everything burn so prettily.
My level 29 Kin/WP Scrapper Jonathan Wong just completed First Ward. Did he do stuff with the Monarch and all that stuff? No. He was there on a mission (recruited against his will) for the IDF, to use his unique skills to aid in the acquisition of an item thought lost, in the hopes that it would trade off against the IDF coming after his sister. (During her tale in Praetoria, she was rescued by her brother from an IDF facility that were seeking to weaponize her talents for assassinaton.) The actions in that little tale will result in the creation of my Street Justice/Willpower Brute, when they release the set. That's when a veteran of two military units will have to remaster her abilities on her own terms. -
Prior to Issue 21, access to the Incarnate system required two variables to be true:
1: Account Subscribed
2: Going Rogue Purchased
As of Issue 21 and the Freedom Launch, there is now only one variable that is required to be true:
1: Account Subscribed.
So before if both were false, you didn't have access to the incarnate system. If one or the other were false, you didn't have access to the incarnate system. Now, if the one variable is false, you don't have access to the incarnate system.
Now, I agree that it'd be nice if Premium players had access to the Alpha Slot/Incarnate Shard stuff as a tempter into the system, but I just can't see them ever changing it to allow Premiums full access to the system.
They're a business. They want you to give them money. It's our decision as to whether we give them money, and their decision to look at things and see if they could be doing more to entice people to spend, whether via allowing access to the Alpha Slot for Premiums, reducing prices of items or tweaking the Paragon Reward Tier options for Premium players. -
Quote:I find Demon Summoning, Necromancy and Thugs to have pretty good powers, Ninja to have an okay one (I can't turn my nose up at 10 seconds every 20 seconds unenhanced of having one of my pets unleash criticals), Robots to have a not so useful one and Mercs to have the worst.
Serum - *shrug* It kinda fits the theme of Mastermind powers having the 'not super useful, but it's something' level 18 power pick.
If Serum worked on all your pets, then maybe I'd use it more. -
Union and the Log-in server have just fell over.
Someone round up some new Server Unicorns. -
New Story Arcs give very small merit rewards. My idea is thus:
Like with the Signature Story Arcs, when you complete a story arc for the first time in game, you get a certain amount of merits as reward that can only be gained once.
I just completed an arc and got 2 reward merits for it.
I'd suggest 10 bonus merits for completion.
Problem would be that this wouldn't allow older characters who've done the arc once to get them, but the same happened when they introduced Reward Merits for arc completion. -
I badly want APP customizatoin so my characters APPs can match their Primary and Secondary sets.
Nachtbrecher uses black and red Dark Melee, which gives his Midnight Grasp the look of shadow tentacles covered in red glowing runes. When he gets Tenebrous Tentacles, this will not be possible.
Do it, finish it and get it out the way. Then you can use those systems when you introduce more APPs and power pools.
(More APPs? Scrappers could do with Electric Mastery. Brutes and Tankers could do with Electric and Darkness Mastery. Blasters could do with Mental and Dark Mastery. Defenders and Corruptors, would be nice to have Ice and Fire Mastery. So on, so forth.) -
Quote:I flashed back to level 7 on my level 18 Fire/Fire Brute to do the Atlas arc I missed.AFAIK, Working As Intended. Having access to Ouro at lvl 14 is meant to deliver an alternate method of travel and a social zone, but using the Flashback system is still restricted to lvl 25+
The first category of missions goes 1-14, right? Maybe you have to be 15+ to access it, as you can't do story arcs in the 'bracket' you're in until you hit 50. -
Quote:A work around for the crab spider crash I found is:We've reproduced this crash and have entered it into our bug system. Thank you for the posts on this!
Edit: by "this crash" I mean with a Crab Spider in the super tailor.
1: Go to the tailors and select Costume 0, the Arachnos one.
2: Go through the tailor screen changing nothing.
3: Select the costume you wish to change but would crash when doing so usually.
4: Make the changes you want to that slot.
If you want to change any other slots, always make sure to go to costume 0 first and go through the tailor screen. Just changing to it won't work. -

Quote:RPer, still using the emotes. Rushmore. uses Flypose 2, Zortel uses flypose 1, Gail's Force uses Flypose 3 and Fusebox uses Flypose 4.As I recall (and it was a while back) when flight poses were added back in I9, the devs attempted to implement a system whereby any one of the five pose animations would be randomly applied when you activated Fly. I recall this actually being live for a brief window of time.
Problem was the RPers whined about how this or that pose wasn't in character for this or that alt and how it was breaking their immersion. So the devs responded by removing automatic random poses and kludged up the current system that requires client-side macros, at which point everyone in the game (RPers included) stopped using them altogether. They are now so rarely seen that most players who subbed at I10 or later can be excused for not knowing the functionality even exists. Classic "dog in the manger" behaviour really. -
Quote:Unless you are a Rogue.Which is why the old Galaxy City is accessible via Ouroboros...
Then you have to go Rogue > Hero > Blueside Ouroboros > Echo Portal > Get Badges > Vigilante > Villain > Rogue in order to get the badges and return to your original alignment.
The Echo portal does not exist in Redside Ouroboros. -
'Hey, I'm going to knuckle down tomorrow and get my Nin/Time levelled before work in the afternoon.'
Welp, that's that plan scuppered.
Yes, it's necessary, yes, it's essential, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck any less for people who want to play in the EU. I was hoping to use the early evening to run some missions with my friends, but that's not an option. -
As a Dark/Dark Scrapper, being at level 20 sets my available powers to 25, one short of Soul Drain.
Soul Drain helps me combat -To Hit by getting in an accuracy boost first. The damage also helps against negative energy resistant enemies.
The Signature Story Arc is full of CoT Ghosts that do -To Hit and have Negative energy resistance.
I now have to try and make sure I have plenty of yellows on hand to combat this.
I may not have more yellows drop than I use.
Net result: The arc isn't fun on that character, compared to my Fire/Fire Brute, who does have Build Up and can fire that off to deal with the -to hit. Which means I won't run it on that one. -
What I'd like the Barbarian Bundle to have:
Males/Huge:
Barbarian Iron Boots (Bare/Thighs feed under option, shinplate like you can get for wrist/upper arms)
Barbarian Ring Anklets (Ring just above the ankles in the style of the Male Barbarian Ring Arm piece)
Barbarian Buckled Belt. (Similar to the chest detail.)
Female:
Barbarian Laced/Belted Gloves up to top of forearm.
Barbarian Laced/Belted Gloves up to middle of bicep.
Barbarian Ring Bracelet
Barbarian Ring Anklet.
Barbarian Ring Choker for Heads/Detail 1. -
Quote:Regarding Rogues, Vigilantes and rewards, you can only claim the Astral or the Threads at 50, right?Quoting myself from another, less appropriate, thread:
I liked the new Signature Story Arc a lot, the writing and the maps were both top notch. I'd give examples (there were plenty, but want this to be spoiler free). I could have done without being exemplared down to level 20, but that's a minor quibble.
As a Rogue however, I did find the choice of rewards at the end rather... underwhelming. Yes, I know Rogues can't get Villain Merits but a choice of one Astral Merit, or 10 threads, or 22 merits seemed a bit light especially considering the Rogue-equivalent of earning a Villain Merit is *60* standard merits!
Perhaps up the reward to 1 Villain/Hero merit (for villains/do-gooders), or 1 Empyrean Merit, or 20 threads, or 60 standard merits, awarded once per week and the current lesser rewards for subsequent runs per week?
Oh, and a shiny new badge would be nice as well.
-Buxley
This leaves you with just the merit option to select from 20-49 if you are one of the inbetween moralities. :/ -
So not only do you work on Mids and other useful software, but you give milk too?!
Character builds and dairy products for all!
Brand_X:Quote:*Wore band t-shirt to favourite band's first UK gig (they're from Sweden), met band after show, had drinks and Sahara Nuts with them, everything turned out better than expected.**wears shirt with the name of the band on it, to their concert* -
I thought I'd try to get around this by changing Slot 2's costume to female, then rebuilding it from scratch. Instead it just gave slot 2 messed up proportions, including razor thin hands and boots that clip through legs, as if the male and female bodies had somehow spliced together.
EDIT: I think I have a temp solution.
1: Go to the tailor and select your first, Arachnos costume as the one to change.
2: Go through the tailor screen changing nothing and finish up.
3: Go to the tailor and select the costume you want to change.
It doesn't seem to work if you change Costume without going through the tailor screen.
EDIT: Yeah, doing the above lead to me being able to change my character's costume, only if i went Crab Spider Arachnos Outfit > Through Tailor > Change to costume to edit > Tailor. Any attempt to go Arachnos Outfit > Outfit to change > tailor resulted in the game crashing when trying to display the model.
Doesn't affect my Arachnos Soldier, or my Arachnos Widow. -
My Level 26 Crab Spider currently has two costumes that crash the tailor screen.
His first costume, the Arachnos Armour one, does not. His second costume, unlocked at level 10, crashes the costume screen on switching from the body screen to the costume screen. His third costume, unlocked at level 20, does not crash the costume screen. His fourth costume, Global Slot 6, is based on the Level 10 one, and crashes the costume screen.
This is rather annoying, because it means 2 out of four costume slots refuse to work.
If I change the character to female, I can go into the costume screen. If I go back and try to change to male, it crashes again. -
The price is not right. The price is too damn high. $7.50 for a low-res, single gender only costume with some transparency. A costume that was made back in 2007. A thing that is just a little cheaper than a -brand new- power set, that's also a permament global unlock for that account.
It's just ridiculous. Would you honestly pay for that? Would you pay 600 points for that costume when for 640 you could get Beam Rifle? Or for 800 two bundles of costume parts rather than a single power that does -nothing- and isn't customizable? -
Ambushes come too frequently, the glowies should instant activate rather than delay every time a guard hits.
Timer too short to escape properly from the first mission without going in aware.
Hate the fact that the enter game button has to be pressed every mission load screen. It's a picture. Just let me into the mission map. -
I got caught out by forgetting to turn my difficulty down due to being exemped, and getting to the exit on the first map only to find out it didn't work, with no other exit I could spot.
-
Whoever thought 600 Paragon Points would be a fair price for that ought to be keelhauled at the worst, and at the best at least be made to swab the bilge out.

It's just like Texas_Justice wrote (although I'm not sure what he meant later mentioning Brazil, I think he called me a nut since he posted right after me and I'm from Brazil)
They're delicious.
PS: Emberly, is there any reason in particular why you're considering a Mac if CoH worked great on it?
My issue with Macs is that you pay a premium on inferior parts. For the price of a regular iMac that I couldn't repair or upgrade myself, I can buy a PC that's as good as it for cheaper, better for the same price, or if I build it myself, I can build something that blows it out of the water and the much higher priced models.
(And the prices them selves are ridiculous for upgrading them pre-purchase... On a 21.5" 2.7GHz model, to go from 4GB to 8GB RAM is £160. To go to a 2TB HDD from 1TB is £120 extra. That's insane.)
