Oh circle, how vicious thou art...
-
I wish my pets would do what the ACU does, and stand the hell at range unleashing plasma based death
I wouldn't want to lose the melee attack, though, because when a Boss (I think it was Maelstrom) runs into melee all of a sudden, only to get KO'd by my Assault Bot smushing him into the floor....thats a nice feeling.
I just wish they'd stay at range. Maybe having Vicky around will make life easier, because I sure ain't short on ranged damage. -
MacKenzie stayed behind, shaking his head. God damn Cop Shows and Investigation programs on TV had a lot to answer for these days...detectives barking orders like some kinda Inspectors or Captains or...
The Sergeant pulled a hip flask from his belt and took a swig. It was only fruit juice inside, something to keep his throat from drying an a little sugar to keep him going. As he stroked his mustache, looking thoughtfully after the vans, he began to wonder.
Why send Atlas precint SWAT teams? Why not the Row's own teams? And why the Protector unit? Well, sure, there had been a lot of supers and the giant robot, but...
MacKenzie frowned, 'tash bristling slightly. Something didn't smell right. Not right at all... -
...so long as this is fixed before I play tonight

Else I'm going to be taking out my annoyance on other pixels on XBL... -
Quote:-in your opinionI'll agree with that. We shouldn't be able to unlock all of our slots and have very rares in every slot by the end of a week.

In my opinion, overt use of grind is odious, boring and penalises those that don't have time to spend grinding raids all night. I've still yet to unlock the Destiny slot, and I've only got uncommons in Interface and Judgement.
So, just because some people cand do stuff fast doesn't mean everyone can and will.
And, personally, I detest the fact you have to pay to turn shards into threads. 10:10 or 10:5 doesn't bother me. But I have no use for shards on Alpha. I have my Tier 4 alpha slot, and I do'n't intend to make more. So why am I not allowed to turn these things into something useful that I can and want to use? Why must I pay for that? -
Quote:It was purely an exampleSpeaking purely for myself, ANYTHING to do with a sword would be fine by me, so long as it did damage primarily. I've never been the kind of snob who looks down on single-target attacks because "the game is all about AoE," and I've actually campaigned for signature powers of that nature, back when that's what we were calling them. I envisioned a really long melee "combo" type power that lasted for a good 5-6 seconds, which nevertheless did ABSURD levels of damage to a single target.
I mean, AoEs are cool, but I learned my lesson early - you very much CAN have too much AoE and not enough single-target. My AR/Dev Blaster showed me that beyond a shadow of a doubt. AoE is good for mowing down legions of minions and cackling like a little kid, but once you face that particularly tough EB, all that AoE is worth about as much a sack of dead rats. It does crap damage for an obscene cost, it recharges too slow and it's mostly wasted. Now, I know Incarnate AoEs deal serious damage even to single targets, but just imagine if the damage it does to just, say, three or four targets were consolidated into one single-target attack?
I'll boil it down further;
Player A has AT X. They get Power 1 for their Judgement
Player B has AT Y. They get Power 2 for thier Judgement
Player A would much rather have Power 2 on their character/AT, because it fits their concept better. But, because of being the wrong AT, they can't have that power, despite the fact they know it exists. They also see no good reason not to get that power, which is then frustrating.

Quote:I would actually say no to that. What I don't understand is why AT modifiers aren't applied to these powers. Blasters excell at damage, it's what they do. Their top powers SHOULD outdamage the other AT's. Sure, Scrappers and Stalkers should be a close second, but Tanks shouldn't be able to generate as much. If AT modifiers were applied to the powers, you still get the cool wow factor, you still have a power that is awesome, just a blaster overkills by even more than usual.
Same for the other slot with Buffs (I don't remember which), a 'fenders power SHOULD be more effective than the blasters.
I'm in two minds about having different powers per AT, and I think I'm leaning towards Alpha's side, but I do believe the strenghts of the AT's should be applied.
Why?
Because Blasters and Scrappers already do more damage than the others ATs even without Judgement attacks.
Judgement for squishies is something to finally Hurrah about, a personal attack that actually lets you stop sucking at damage for a moment and make a mob fall over. On Alpha, its really nice to just let the bots kick back for a mob, while the Boss does his thing with throwing lightning bolts.
My Fire Blaster, on the other hand, makes mobs vanish in three-four powers anyway. A uber-giant fireball will be really cool for her, but she'll still be awesome even during its downtime. -

Quote:Uh, no it doesn't. Most people here have been saying how their squishies, MMs in particular, have never gotten above an uncommon on the table. I know I haven't, which is somewhat annoying given all the extra hurdles Alpha has to jump through (pets dying every two seconds because of high acc AoE, towers one shotting them, overdose of +3 bosses, tight tunnels in Lambda....etc)I am not liking the formula the Devs are using to determine participation level and to at least partially affect reward bonuses. It appears to disproportionately favor certain ATs with a combination of AoE damage/control, and player targetable buffs that can be spammed during downtime. If you are a damage dealer, debuffer, or a single target character-- there really appears to be a consistent bias in the rewards you are granted.
Controllers, MMs, and Defender/Corruptor builds that can sway their participation quotient seem to consistently get the best drops. ATs with no downtime abilities really seem to take a hit.
That's been my anecdotal experience so far... (And MANY posts here seem to confirm it.) -
I'm pretty sure that the reward table system is borked, and another middle finger to MMs. At least it's seemed that way so far
The fact it might not be counting pets at all just makes it all the worse.

In BAF especially, when the setup tends to be 'Team 1 Siege, Team 2 Nightstar, Team 3 ambushes', Team 3 IS getting cream of the crop when it comes to drops, and ONLY team 3.
That isn't right, and should be fixed. -
Quote:Untrue. The one succesful Lambdurr I've been on was a result of the sabotage stage being blitzkrieged into the floor and then, as soon as we were outside, the doors went down like a row of dominos. All ten of them.As Bas said, I don't think it is just people being stupid. Every single Lambda I have done, there is NEVER 10 acids to be had as we exit that build.
It's very likely people stuck in the 'HURR push butten!' mentality. And not bothering to check. -
Quote:^ /SignedAgreed. There needs to be a dummy buff power on anyone who gets an Acid or a Grenade labelled "Acid/Grenade Bearer" which expires on use of the temp power(s).
Nice lurid colour on the dummy buff too so it's easy to spot! -
If the whole MM 'activation and orders and pet damage doesn't count' thing is even 1/3 true, I for one would be immensely hacked off.
I could rant on for quite some time, but I'm honestly sick and tired of the constant feeling of 'short end of the stick' here. Either the RNG is just being utterly crule (as it does, like the 'one shard off component' runs that I bloody hate...) or something in the system is screwed. -
Quote:It comes down to the whole arguement of origins and concepts again, really.Hmm... OK, you have a point there, I concede. I'll need some time to decide if I CAN argue against this, if I'll just need to hand you this one.
Viewing Incarnate powers as pools is not a bad idea. I suppose I saw them more as epics, myself. But they seem a bit... Specific for pool surrogates, though. Pools are mostly "just" powers that don't come with elements.
For example, lets say that Blasters got a 'Rain of Swords' targetted AoE power, right?
Now, Angry Mac McMac the Sword Scrapper wants to use that power. But, because he's a Scrapper, he instead gets told he has to use 'Big Chop', an ST attack with some secondary effects to it.
Mac doesn't want that. He's got ST damage out the wazoo, and wants something cool and characterful that also happens to have swords in. But, by some arbitrary quirk, he can't have that.
This way, at least, there is no one who gets the concept-shaft, or anything like that. Sure, they may be a tad generic at times, but hopefully we will get more options, and at least this way no one gets something on their Tank that, really, they'd rather have to make their squishy a bit more hitty. -
Thing is, commons are so easy to craft with even one BAFs worth of AMerits and natural drops. Rares and V.Rares on the other hand require an extortionate ammount of EmpMerits. I know which one I'd rather have drop

Yeah, always strikes me as a bit wierd that
Ah well

Aurgh, brain fail. Dunno where that came from.... forgeddit.

This threads been stickied for ages now.
Is anything ever going to come of it? Omega Slot, maybe? Something? Please?

Quote:Thing is, we will likely get more trees to the powers (according to the Devs), so we hopefully won't always be limited.I'm not saying the choices presented are what I'd have picked for each AT, but it doesn't change the fact that I'd have preferred AT-specific Incarnate powers. Not just judgement, either. This blurring of the ATs is decidedly not something I enjoy, lest we give up on having ATs in general. And I don't even have a problem with ATs sharing powers, just not entire powersets, which is what we'll likely end up with by the time this is over.
And, really, we have ATs sharing powersets. It's called power proliferation.
I, for one, would be incredibly knarked if my Defender/MM/Scrapper got told "NO! You may NOT have the giant shiny blast! You are going to have DEBUFFS/PbAoEs/SOMETHING ELSE and you will LIKE IT!"
And I'd tell them exactly where to shove that load of buggery
-
Got one uncommon from trials. All the others have been Commons. I have got a few uncommons from getting the badges, none of whuch I've actually needed.
The Merit costs of Rares and V.Rares I object to because of the sheer grind of it all. I would like to have a shot at getting them as drops, but the table says No...
I don't need commons. I get enough threads fast enough to craft them all. I DO need the damn Rares and V.Rares. But apparently thats too much to ask... -
It is. In the drop-up box in the bottom corner of the map, turn on League mates. Solved.
