Quote:It's been a bit unresponsive to me too, lagging and acting a little juddery on my PC.Thank you for your hard work.
Just wondering: has anyone else run into performance issues using Mids since the I21 release? I'm often getting delays and overall jerkiness when selecting powers and placing slots. It's not something I could quantify properly, but I can tell the difference compared to the previous Mids versions (which I keep installed and, due to the above, end up using instead of the newest if I don't need I21 features for a particular build), so I'm wondering if it's just me, my hardware or whatever, or something other people have run into. -
-
I could buy it now, but...
Considering Beam Rifle went on sale, on sale, when it launched... I might wait for the official update just to see if StJ goes on sale as well. -
Quote:The rumours are just that. Rumours. They'd not be stupid enough to do that.I am not happy about loosing all the stuff I payed for, the rumours are flying about defiant and all the eu servers are going to be non vip players only. Thats no good for me. I played on freedumb for a week before and during the big event and nobody wanted to talk to me or team with me exept for a guy who only talked about his characters feet..
Defiant has a great enviroment for serious gamers and trying to force us to spread out to the American servers would be a big detriment to us. The server had also had a lot more players lately and with the big knowledge base among the veteran defiants I saw only good things ahead. Amongst other things the defiant server handled the invasion event much more handedly than than the freedom server. I honestly dont really see much joy in leaving defiant behind. So far this is just rumours off course but I seen a certain.. bias towards the American servers and especially the freedom server, so I would not be suprised if you suddenly decided to downgrade the Euro servers. Hopefully you will fix this problem soon. -
Quote:I dunno, some of the players bite on the server. We really need to get a sign or something to hang on the log in screen. I'm just one of those crazy one server only people. It doesn't feel right being anywhere other than Union.I don't want anyone to leave their home servers, I just want the server to not be miss-judged. The same as I am sure if every other server thought bad things about Union which could scare off several potiental players I am sure you would want people to know it isn't really like that.
Glad to see you're passionate about Exalted though! -
I never was persuaded onto Defiant back in the early days of EU CoH.
I never was persuaded onto Virtue when the server lists merged.
And I doubt I'll get persuaded onto Exalted with CoH: Freedom.
Union's been my home for coming up to 7 years. Exalted might have fields of cookie shrubs and developer contests on it, but I'mma stay on Union till the servers go dark. -
Total Praetoria News - Friday 30th
IDF Major Killed in Action
Constance Swanhildr, a veteran of the Norweigan Armed Forces Batajlon 2 and a Major in the Imperial Defence Force's 1st Brigade was killed in action early Thursday morning, while on duty protecting Praetoria City from Devouring Earth.
Maj. Svanhildr, a charasmatic woman known for her tenacity in battle and her work with the IDF's Recruitment Board, was on a culling and scientific operation with her unit when they came under attack by a terrorist cell. It is believed her actions allowed most of her unit time to escape, along with the Administration Scientists accompanying them to.
The IDF issued a statement, saying 'The tragic death of Major Svanhildr comes as a shock to us all. She gave her life however to protect scientists working to keep us safe from the Devouring Earth threat, and will be remembered for her bravery and honour. We will remain vigilant for further cowardly attacks from terrorists, and ensure such a tragedy will not occur again.'
Maj. Svanhildr first began fighting the Devouring Earth in her home country of Norway, and joined the IDF when it was formed to train them with the experience she had gathered. In the past years, she had participated in several rounds of IDF recruitment campaigns, including the popular 'Keep Praetoria Perfect', 'Protectors of People' and the 'Humanity's Guardians' adverts. She leaves no surviving family members behind. -
Quote:Was your first costume one that used the old Masks with Hair option?I don't know if this is related or not, but all the costume slots I've unlocked since Issue 21 (or previously unlocked slots where I just wanted to change the costume) have Male face #1 and the "Fury" hair when opened in the costume creator screen regardless of what face or hair was originally used for the character the slot was unlocked on.
If so, it was rolled into Standard Heads, and when you go to edit such costumes the head returns to the original defaults in Standard heads, in this case Male Face 1/Fury hair for males. -
Quote:Villain taking down a flying hero with a fireball-ish power. Then they chase after him, they all fly up, find more heroes, then they all fly up again and hit the ceiling cap with their noses.Lawl >_> I. Thought the trailer was ok. I didn't see any references to pvp in first ward :/
There was a shortage of tissue paper that day in First Ward, with all the nosebleeds. -
The 'Run any content they like' argument always makes me laugh.
When Fear Trigger is in the Rogue Isles, she can do the following:
Newspaper Missions
Mayhem Missions
Start Task Forces (if they have a team with the correct amount of players to start)
Do the Signature Story Arc
Do Vigilante > Villain Tip Missions.
Team with others doing Story Arcs.
She cannot:
Start Contact Missions/Arcs
Start the Patron Arc
Join the Redside Death From Below Trial
Access Redside Ouroboros to do old arcs/missions.
Considering Contact Missions/Arcs are a large part of the game and reward Badges and Reward Merits they might be something I'd want to do to get badge titles and so on. But I can't. So I cannot 'run any content I like.'
If she had level 20+ Vigilante arcs and missions to do in the Isles and Paragon City, and maybe some kind of special contacts to get temp powers from, then them not having access to H/V Merits would be understandable. -
I don't intend to play any non-50 Rogues/Vigilantes through the Signature Story Arcs yet, because the Alignment Merits are the best rewards on that table and the Astral Merits or Threads aren't available as choices pre 50, leaving you with just 20 Reward Merits.
Which is one Recipe roll compared to 5 from 1 Alignment Merit.
May as well wait till they're 50 and get iRewards. -
Oh no, clipping!
Fact is, if it wasn't for clipping, Baltzam's costume wouldn't look half as cool as it does. The Big bit is the Valkyrie Shoulders and the High Collar Cloak. The top, rounded paldroun sits atop the material, while underneath on the arm itself is the smaller pauldron. Clipping was used to make the helmet out of Samurai, Warrior and Cyborg pieces, along with a nice glowing aura.
I'm Zortel, and I approve of letting us decide whether to use clipping costume parts or not. -
Quote:When you're playing a Vampire RPG game, that's par for the course. It doesn't make for a stale game world, any more than (e.g.) an RPG wherein every PC is a vampire made for one. If you can't work with simple conditions like this then you're not as good at this as you think you are.
In a comic book-style Universe, the origin story is part of what makes a great character. I'm happy to have my characters being part of the world. I'd just like the freedom to not have one major event dictated to them where something else might work better.
If you can't understand the idea behind having a villain rising up through the ranks on the Rogue Isles and not being jail-broken, or someone coming to the Isles from another country to make a name for themselves rather than being jail broken, that's your problem. -
Hmm, things people get in I21 for free off the top of my head...
Powerset Proliferation.
Revamped Mercy Island/Atlas Park
3 arcs on each side covering levels 5-20.
Death From Below lowbie sewer trial.
Things people get in i21 just by being a subscriber:
Time Manipulation Powerset
IDF + Defence Costume Sets
Access to the Signature Story Arcs
First Ward
Access to Going Rogue content (if not previously purchased before)
Underground Incarnate Trial
Pretty sure I'm missing some other things.
As for microtransactions, there are some prices I'm not happy with, so... I've said so. And not paid for them.
There are some prices I'm -very- happy for, so said so, and paid for them. (Much love Cape/Aura Global Unlock, 160 PP each!) -
When I was playing on my Praetorian gone Hero, Jonathan Wong, in First Ward, I had some references to him being in Powers Division, which he was. Does this happen to other characters who weren't from Praetoria?

Quote:I've been taking some notes:
- I would like to take a second look at guides. I feel as though there definitely needs to be something done to encourage more guides to be produced, especially in light of all the new and returning players that will be coming into the game. I'd also like to find a way to make build sharing more visible and encourage more players to share their builds on an active basis.
Ideas for this:
Promotion of guides on the City of Heroes website. Maybe a good guide in the forum has the chance to go up in a guide section of the website?
Promotion of the guides forum section, and if created the guides website section, in game.
Some kind of little guide award? Even if it's just a costume power code given, or some game time.
Guide challenges. A Red name says 'hey, let's see your best x guides!'. Could work in addition with the above. -
Something Arcanaville mentioned earlier is niggling at me.
Quote:In particular, it's the bit about in-game canon prerequisites and having to be broken out of jail by Arachnos. On the hero side, there is the in-game canon prerequisite that you register as a metahuman and abide by the laws of Paragon City. On the villain side, there was the in-game canon prerequisite that you accept Arachnos help to break out of prison. Its a little different now, in that you now accept that Arachnos is watching over your shoulder more than normal.
Am I the only one who thinks a world where every single player character villain has been liberated from the Zig by Arachnos makes for a rather stale game world?
Maybe it's just the roleplayer in me talking, but not all of my Villains were broken out of the Zig, or were in the Zig to begin with, or were in Galaxy City when the meteors fell. -
My second account came online on Saturday. This is one that I've had the GVE edition and GR Complete applied to.
First thing I noticed is how much I use booster pack costume items. I decided to drop some cash on the account, for several reasons:
1: To get more character slots
2: To get Tier 4 access (For AH access, it's an okay way to make money.)
3: To get some costume bundles
It's interesting when planning the builds on the characters on that account of working around SOs, rather than common IOs. The plan is to have those characters as buff bots, for when I get my second PC.
Overall I'm happy with having access to it, happy to have dropped some money on it. If I ever feel like putting a bit more money on it, I can. -
Quote:You must gather your party before venturing forth.I m an Aussie and I used to care about all the downtime until it encouraged me to play Baldur's Gate 2 again.
You must gather your party before venturing forth.
You have been waylaid by enemies and must defend yourself. -
That'd present problems for some roleplayers, other people's characters get mentioned all the time in stories and recap threads. :P

Re: AT forums - If you can't do the excellent Forum/Sub Forum idea as pictured above, leave them as is. If I want information on Tankers, I go to the Tanker section. A Brute is not a Tanker. A Corruptor is Ranged DPS and Support, not just Ranged DPS. So on, so forth.
If half of my power set is dedicated to buffing and debuffing, am I going to look in Ranged Damage, or Support?

Re: Other Forums
News, Events & Announcements:
I've always wondered why Announcements and News, Events and Announcement Discussions are seperate. If you look at an announcement post, you then have to go to a discussion post to comment on it. That seems a little odd to me to have if you're wishing to reduce faff.
Supergroup and Villain Group recruitment: Always wondered why this isn't covered under Server forums.
Player Events: I can see as being of use to interest people to move servers, so keep it where it is.
------------------
Development:
I'd recommend splitting this up into two sections.
1: Development (Has Develeoper's Corner, Dev Digest, Community Digest)
2: Testing and Technical Support (Has Gameplay/Tech issues, Training Rooms, Chararacter Copy Tool. Possibly move Mac Users to this section from Player Help.)
------------------
Player Help:
Add a section on the Paragon Market and Paragon Reward System.
-------------------
For Fun:
I never really understood why Screenshots and Fan Creations, and Multi-Media City of Heroes and Villains were separate. Wouldn't one heading of 'Creative Works' suit better, covering multi-media to costume designs and so on?
Please don't hurt Roleplaying. In the EU Forums it took a long time for us to get a forum of our own. I'd miss it terribly if it went.
I never quite got Forum Games. Maybe some people love it though, so they'd have to say.
Regarding the EU forum subsection, I've never gotten much use out of it myself, so I won't speak on keeping/abolishing it. I'll note though that it's been used for organizing player meets. If it was removed, would the ban on cross-posting make trying to draw attention from say, the EU Server sections to Player Events prohibited? That'd be a worry for those trying to get promotion to an event taking place in real life.
-----------------
Server forums: As is.

Rules Questions:
The Zero Tolerance policy from Section 16, how closely does it apply to works of fiction when posted on the boards? I'm eyeing the following in particular regarding that:
Quote:Anddiscriminatory remarks--remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or offensive on the basis of sexual identity, gender, or sexual orientation
Quote:posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity
Also, in section 15, this poses a quandary. Sometimes, stories have been posted in PDF form for several reasons, such as for general presentation, excessive size, ease of portability and also to keep mature content (mature for whatever reason) off the boards. In the latter case, this is usually prefaced by a warning. Is this disallowed as well? -
This week I hope for the Gunslinger set, and Costume Slots to go on sale.

You posted at 7 AM. If people were up then, they were likely getting ready for daytime activties, so complaining about having 3 views but no replies 2 minutes later? Little bit impatient.
500m is a lot of Influence, and to be honest, I am not a fan of emote RP fighting. It has the potential to suck on a massive scale and turn into OOC arguments.
RP-PVP tournaments have been done in the past on Union, but they actually use the Arena and fight with game mechanics. It's worked for them a couple of times. There's just too many issues with RP via emotes between individuals. -
I am making air noises in celebration *hooorb*
Some bugs I've noticed so far:
Blasters/Dark Blast > Aim - No green toggle button on the power to switch effects on and off.
Blasters/Darkness Manipulation > Soul Drain - Power is set to only give 50% Damage Buff, no matter how many targets it is set to hit. To-Hit does go up though.
That's all for now! Cracking work. You truly are champions of... numbery... slotty... goodness... stuff.
