If you want to play the market this way, you're going to need to do some studying. Find an IO set enhancement that is going for a good price. Then see if the Recipe for that enhancement, plus salvage and crafting cost, is going for much lower than it. If so, but the recipe and salvage, make it, and list it for higher than your costs. This should get you a net increase in funds.

Quote:What server? And how do you feel about word-play names or jokey sounding names?
I've wanted Westley's suggestion of Buzz Off on Virtue ever since my name Bee-Yotch got generic'ed, but I finally settled on the inferior, but still pleasing to me, Pain in the Wasp.
Depending on your taste, and availablity, you could try any of those names.
Another name I have been after on Virtue is Tarantula Hawk, which at first doesn't sound like much of an insect name, but look them up on wikipedia - they are big, bad-*** wasps that hunt tarantulas as food for their larvae! ETA: They don't look anything like bees though.
Normally I don't mind a jokey-sounding name, but the costume on her is very sleek, and she looks like she should be a killer, so I'd prefer something a little more flashy or simple, rather than jokey. But if I see a good name, I'll take it.
This will be on Pinnacle, just FYI. Thanks for all of the ideas so far! -
Yup, a Yellow-jacket is a wasp, not a bee, but either works for me. It's a yellow/black costume, so either one works pretty well.

Sigium,
Also, there is a thread going on in the Brute forums about Ice/Ice Brutes. Basically, with the reworks of how Fury works, and the fixes to Ice Melee that came about after CoV, Ice/Ice Brutes are definitely viable now for proliferation. -
Hey everyone,
So last night I made up a new character, an Elec/Dual Blades Tanker, and made her have the costume of a bee. Now, wanting to stay on the bee theme, I had trouble coming up with an appropriate name. I liked the name Yellowjacket, but it was taken. After several other tries to get a name that I thought fit, I did something horrible: I named her YeIIowjacket (with two capitol i's instead of l's), since in game, it looks the same as Yellowjacket. This was a placeholder, and I fully expect to change the name as soon as I come up with a good one, especially since I just googled it, and it's on of Henry Pym's names (is there a persona that guy DIDN'T take on?).
So, having though for most of the morning, I'm still having trouble coming up with a name. So I'm asking for a bit of help here, to see if any of you creative types can help me out and come up with a good name for her.
Thanks!

Quote:I could not have said this better myself. I have a friend who is the explorer type and we have this debate all the time. I KNOW I'm not the explorer type, but as Nox says here I shouldn't be punished for it.
Also just as a final note, I wish, if there are more missions like this, that they just don't use the map to "help". I went out the door next to Agent G (because there was a little red arrow under it directing me) and although there might be a way into the tunnels on that side of the dam, many of the guys were red and purple to me and I no longer had the disguise. Anyhow, I did it, it's done, time to move on (thank God).
How on earth did you run out of disguise time before you got this mission? -
Nope, not bored here. Just created a new Tanker last night (an Elec/DB), and once I got the costume right and everything, it's still been fun, even at the low levels for me.
Always fun to try out new sets and combinations of powers. -
I'm a big fan of both of these ideas. Well done, good sir!

I'd like this kind of tool, just to see what the numbers are, and see if they differ from server to server.

Quote:I understand that you cant really outlevel IOs, but by level 40 you can find a greater bonus than the ones you got 10 levels ago.
True, but at some point, that can become irrelevant. Especially with ED in mind, getting the max bonus from each IO in the power can become less useful. You can sometimes get to good enhancement values using lower-level IOs, because they provide a greater bonus. -
Quote:Popular opinion is just that: an opinion. Your limited sample does not constitute a fact. It is just YOUR opinion on how it plays out on a larger scale. You have no evidence to back up your opinion.Simple, 90% of the neg feedback I get, or I see people get, comes from them simply not agreeing with the popular opinion, and actually having the balls to say something about it.
yeah, some people get neg feedback for actually being stupid buttmonkeys, and other times people will get neg feedback just because they annoyed someone.. neither of these are the points which get you a lot of negative feedback. (Unless the person persisits in being a stupid buttmonkey >.>)
And, let me just say this now: there is no grand popular opinion on these forums. There is nobody controlling how the majority views an issue. There is simply a collection of individuals which can feel whatever way it wants on any given topic. If you create a bad suggestion, more people are probably not going to like it. Some may give you negative rep for suggesting it. Don't interpret that as a larger group also mad at you for making a suggestion that you don't like.
You have come to the conclusion that you have, and nobody can talk you out of that if you don't want them to. But please learn the difference between fact and opinion, and about extrapolation of data. -
Quote:First off, definitely the wrong spot to post this. Starting a new thread would be the way to go, but you got about half the location right, so whatever.First time poster so forgive if Im in a wronge location started this game in beta and have tried about everything. What I have noticed in all my time now is a lack of stuff to do. And yes even tried AE .It was in fact AE that gave me this idea in A
Still, your idea has no real meat to it. "More stuff" is relatively useless to the Devs. What, specifically, would you like? New enemy groups? New zones? The ability to switch sides? Just more badges? What?
Also, take a look around on the forums, and see what other people have suggested (in addition to checking out posts about Going Rogue, and other upcoming things that we know about), to see if any of those would be up your alley.
Welcome to the forums! -
Quote:First off, two things:I never really got into the whole AH thing. Now, I really only go there to sell stuff so I can buy SOs and distribute to my other toons.
I understand the concept of IOs and the crafting part, but have a question.
What is a good time to "start" slotting your character with IOs to get the set bonuses? If you start at the lower levels, you outlevel to quickly. If you start later in levels, it almost becomes not worth it.
1) You never outlevel IOs, so you can keep them longer.
2) A set bonus is never not worth it. It might not be a huge bonus, but it's better than anything that an SO could give you.
That being said, I usually start looking for set enhancements for my characters around level 30. I buy SOs up until level 22, then around level 27 I start using level 30 IOs where I can find them, and SOs to fill in the holes. By level 32, I usually have basic IOs in everything, and start looking for sets.
Even if you're slotting at level 50, the bonuses can make a marked improvement in your character, so don't discount them for characters at the level cap. Then can allow you to do things an SO-ed out character can't do. -
Zero. Just go talk to him with the right sized group and start the TF.

Something I haven't seen brought up in this thread yet: when Ice Melee was first given to Brutes, Frozen Aura had not been fixed yet.
Ice Melee was still crap back then. Frost wasn't buffed, and Frozen Aura was still the pitiful sleep that it was. It wasn't until well after I6 that the set got buffed. Before the buffs, Ice Melee would have been a pitiful set on Brutes. Now, it might be okay. Not great, but okay, even with the -recharge (which shouldn't interfere more than other sets, as many of you are saying). But before, it WAS a bad set for Brutes. Bad single-target damage, and horrible AoE potential does not a good Brute set make.
I still think that the low damage was a more major factor for dropping it than the -recharge was, although that didn't help with the beta version of fury. -
Also, the definition of an exploit isn't what I say it is, or you, or Lemur, or Westley, or anyone else in this thread says it is. It's what the Devs say it is. If something is considered an exploit by them, that is all that matters, and they don't like them, so be prepared for them to shut them down.
I guess I just don't get how people are surprised when the Devs specifically say, several times, that the AE system is not for PLing or Farming, and then actually take steps to make sure that people can't PL or farm it, and punish them when they do. That like people being surprised for getting a speeding ticket for going 20 over the limit after the cops publically announce that they're going to be cracking down on speeders. -
Uhhh...yeah. I'd rather the Devs not do this. It would open up way too many holes for things like bosses with a ***** and balls face, or some female anatomy as a head. I'd rather they just not open that particular floodgate of problems.

Raymaiha:
The Devs set up a system where there is a certain amount of work that goes into getting a level 50. Either in time that it takes to get there, or actual work.
People were exploiting a new system to get to 50 with much less time and effort. That is an exploit. Yes, games have exploits. Guess what? Game developers don't like people using them, and tend to try to shut them down as soon as they can. People who get to 50 in no time at all, and can afford everything they want with a minimum of effort are going to leave sooner. It's a business decision. People who get everything they want get bored, and then they leave.
Name me one game that didn't try to shut down massive exploits when they become aware of them.
There is a big difference between farming, PLing, and exploiting the game. The Devs don't really care about farming (although they did say, multiple times, that the AE systems was NOT to be used for it, and that people who did so were at risk of being punished), and PLing to a certain extent is fine. What is wrong is that people could get to level 50 in a matter of a couple of hours, AND that it was becoming the norm, instead of the exception. That does become a problem for both the game and the players. If you don't accept that, it's fine, but it is a problem. -
Been suggested before, and I'd be all for it if it could be done. But the game engine doesn't really allow for things like this. Everything the moves has a collision cylinder around it, and objects like the zeppelin and even cars going about the city are thus unable to be landed driectly on.
I don't know how much work it would take to change this, but I'd be willing to bet that it's harder than we might think. Still, I'd love to be able to stand on the dirigible. -
-
OP: the game is NOT punishing those who work harder. It's punishing people who put in less effort, but are trying to get more rewards out of it. If you think that is socialism, I don't know what to say.
-
Seriously, does any of this even matter? Can we drop this thread yet?
-
They'll probably let us know when they have a plan for it. "After I16" is a pretty big target, you know. With a decent amount of the staff being sick, I'm sure that it's not a priority.
