Quote:Baton?Rather than knife I want to see a whip meleeset which is actually effective in middle to close range with some hold and immobilise effects. Or a baton set which can be used with shields to produce policeman like superheroes.
Let's use, for a melee set, all the apparatus: Baton, ball, rope, hoop, and ribbon!

Actually, I came to this thread hoping is was slash fic.

Quote:I suggested that when the souvenir count was in the low 200s.According to what I have seen there are currently over 300 souvenirs currently available in the game now and new ones are always being added with every Issue.
Time to make badges for 350 and 400!
The purpose of a souvenir badges is for doing all the content. Which is the core of the game. If there's a badge for farmy and grindy stuff like a ridiculous amount of crafting, then there most definitely should be a badge for... you know... playing the actual game content to 'completion.' -

Actually, in the SSA, we go back further in time and meet Imperious/Romulus before all the other evens of Cimerora we're familiar with.

Quote:I was under the impression that the Rikti turned themselves into the Rikti as we know them to beat the Battalion.Quote:...I just had a thought.
The Rikti defeated the Battalion apparently by getting rid of their gods, magic, the Well, etc.
Will we... be able to defeat the Battalion without doing the same...?
Thousands of years ago a visitor(s) helped them become a psi-aware species.
Defeating the Battalion was just a hundred years ago.
From a clue from Serpent Drummer's arc:
Quote:After the initial wars to unify the planet thousands of years ago, the Lineage of War was very small, only rising to prominence during a very few infrequent civil wars and insurrections. Their last big operation was against an alien force called the Battalion about 100 years ago. Since then, their power had been tapering off to its normal ceremonial levels until the start of the war with Earth.
Also, becoming antimagical and godless is *not* a sign of disassociating from their/our Well. On Primal Earth we have plenty of non-magical non-god-worshipping Incarnates drawing power from the Well. They developed their Psy Potential... presumably interdependently with their/our Well. The Rikti did not disconnect from The Well... they disconnected their gods from The Well. -
Well, this is close to being a necro-post. But it does point out the OP never posted their build so we could see why it wasn't performing the way we all expect Dark to outperform.

Quote:No, there isn't.Is there any way to prevent pets from getting taken away by someones Incandescence or whatever other teleport powers they are using?
Even when I deny acceptance my pets still go.
However, if you're far enough away, they'll all port back to you. -
Quote:Wow. So much wrong in one post. This is what I mean by players being more pedantic than developers. You are putting together two separate pieces of information written by two different writers at two different times. There is no guarantee that the current writers have done the same thing.
Regardless, it's not a significant issue. "It was only the part of the Well in the Rikti dimension that was affected".
So long as they are in their own dimension, they, and the Battalion, are at least partially cut off from the Well, leading to loss of magic, loss of individualism and cultural stagnation. When they travel to Primal Earth they reconnect with the Well, leading to the rediscovery of magic and a rise in individualism, and eventually, civil war and cultural change.
The Rikti have beaten off the Battalion. Fact.
The Rikti's lack of magic was self inflicted by cutting themselves off from 'the gods' (which we now know are Well-powered beings), so, no Mu bloodline. Fact.
The Well that powers Cole in one dimension is the same Well that powers us in the Primal dimension. Fact. And... very recent information from the Dev-content team. Any attempt to wave this away as being retconned is ludicrous.
You put this in quotes: "It was only the part of the Well in the Rikti dimension that was affected". Where the heck are you quoting that from?
Your theory has no legs to stand on. -

It would certainly be something that could keep a soloist busy for a long time. Then they can justify it as 'new content'-ish by giving out 100 Merits for each badge (that's about an extra 2 Merits per arc).

Quote:The server hasn't crashed yet! Buff and Vanity pets, NOW!!!*Ok, lets assume half of them are incarnate enough to have Lore. Thats another 48. Add in some more for HVAS, other temps, and for demons (forgot about the fire imps!), and now we're looking at about 450. Not counting the countless rikti.
And that is still probably on the low side.
*That is, two minutes from now when server lag allows it to happen.
Don't forget to have capes and auras running. -
Quote:The Rikti have a civil war abrewing and they were able to learn magic and to have individual personalities that break with the hive and to translate their language into vernacular English. All that is spelled out in their arcs. They are not a shelled out race lacking Potential.=loss of individualism
= loss of competitive drive
Meh, a few ray guns and spaceships, and teleportation? They aren't really ahead of the average tech origin hero.
Really? Not intelligent enough to avoid being taken in by Nemesis.
Besides, spoilers...
Their Well is the same as The Well of all humans in all dimensions. A race's Well is pandimensional. -
Quote:Who are you and what have you done with Ultimus?!!!!!I was just thinking about this the other day for my main. The various lore pets do not really fit into my concept (Though I am still coming up with ideas) but one thing I thought of for a lore pet would be a simple Doppelganger. You summon two images of yourself, one being the lieutenant and the other being the boss. Or possibly just making an entire Mastermind primary out of it where you summon up to 6 clones of yourself.
It just surprises me we've seen so little of this technology which I think could be really fun. To my knowledge, it only appears in one story arc for each side and in a hero side tip mission.
Some creative ways could be like an entire trial where you fight doppelgangers. Maybe its a Battalion thing, or a Crey experiment, but you fight entire groups of enemies that are doppelgangers of your league. -
At the risk of invoking Arcanaville, I just want to point out that that "last 2%" of soft-capping Defense is not really 'all that' if the incoming damage is not one-shot worthy.
Sure, that "last 2%" can be evaluated with regard to the offender's offensive capability and that last 2% means their offensive capability has been reduced by a comparative 33%. But compared to the Defense you already have, that last 2% is only about 1.8% more Defense than what you've already got. And absolutely, it's still just 2%.
Out of 100 attempts to hit you, 2% more Defense simply means, on average, 2 less hits. If you can mitigate that in other ways (-ToHit, +Resist, hard and soft mezzes, heal, regen, -Dam, running away), then that "last 2%" is not as spectacular as it sounds simply by slicing the data to look only at the offender's relative offensive capability with and without that last 2%.
Beside, a purple inspiration or a teammate's Defense buff makes that "last 2%" moot (barring a foe's -ToHit debuff on you).
What the soft-cap should really mean is not that you *must* achieve it, but, going past it is usually not worthwhile (again, only going against a foe with -ToHit Debuffs or a higher base ToHit, such as Incarnate level Praetorians would warrant attempting to go past the first soft cap). -
Quote:Because it was confusing. I was not the only one who thought that the original announcement implied a scripted invasion. And now that this announcement implies that that is not the case, I asked that future announcements be more clear. So now that there's a schedule of when it hits each server, why are you still bringing this up like it's confusing?
And what do you mean by "still bringing it up"? When have I brought it up before? -
Quote:I hear ya. Until the MMs' personal attacks do more damage than the Vet attacks (Sands, Wand, and Staff), I will never take a MM's personal attack. In the vein of making pets spawn at the Mastermind's level, would it be too much to give Masterminds a decent ranged damage mod? I ask because for every Mastermind out there aside, three out of his primary attacks are next to useless, and those are the personal attacks. Granted, for Beasts that's slightly less the case as personal attacks give Pack Mentality, but when the going gets tough, those are still the first three powers I stop using.
Masterminds have the game's lowest damage mod by quite a bit at 0.55, followed by Defenders at 0.65, but Defenders, at least, get a Vigilance damage buff when they're alone. A Mastermind, by contrast, has a pitiful damage mod making all of his attacks basically pointless... And those attacks cost an arm and a leg, especially the AoE one. It just makes the powers a bad choice to take, is what I'm saying. -
Quote:Doesn't the original announcement tell you that it sounded like it's a scripted invasion?Doesn't the presence of a schedule tell you which one it is? They don't do endless waves of invasion in a three hour window.
