Just thinking about this makes my eyes itch. I think I'm going to move an archival copy of my finished arcs to someplace safe.

Douglas Adams...now there was a hoopy frood who always knew where his towel was.
-
Haven't tried it as a chained objective, but setting the surrounding enemy to Single should spawn an ally alone.
-
In my experience, doing this will give you the circular reference error a lot of the time, even when there isn't one, and then the only way to clear it is to delete the objectives and start again. Even if it works, it forces players to search areas of map they've previously cleared over and over again.

Good ideas, many of which have been suggested before. The Base forum has an entire thread devoted to these suggestions, here.

Hey, all this farming and PLing to 50 is out of hand, so let's make content exclusively for toons that have hit 50. That should cut down on it, right? -
The Lesbian Hellions thing is a forum in-joke based on a legendarily terrible character bio, and my guess is that very, very, VERY few players are likely to get the joke. Couple that with some people's automatic instinct to criticize without thinking while simultaneously missing the point (remember the flap about there being no minority actors in the movie Pleasantville?), and an arc with "lesbian" in the title is likely to attract complaints from people who won't play long enough to find out what you're trying to do. And you're going to get it from both sides.
If you appeal the ban and republish, you might want to reserve your arc description for explaining why people shouldn't instantly condemn it. Sad, but that's the world we're in. -
Ditto. Hang tight, it'll probably be back. I'm pretty sure it was taken down for technical reasons, not because of exploits or HAX or a hatred of clones.

Some objects take up spawn points, as do ambushes and patrols, but I think the per-map limitations on these make it impossible to occupy every spawn point and have an empty map.

Well, as a matter of fact, this one time in Cancun, we...
I've said too much. -
Point taken. Demos can do quite a few things you'll never see in-game. Glad you enjoyed it!

Don't worry about the high number of glowies if they are important to your story. And for the love of Pete, DON'T put them on a 60 second timer.
-
By including an enemy type that only occurs in a given level range, it locks the entire mission into that range. The ability to simply choose a level range for your missions is coming soon.
-
You might try using the mission entry pop-up to deliver the bank manager's line.

Republish...that's what I did to clear the no-error error. Don't unpublish, just republish.
-
Yeah, the burning forest map is down right now, and it invalidated the arc. I swapped the map out for the non-burning version and republished, so it's available for play again. Hopefully we won't have to wait long to get our maps back.
-
You know, I somehow KNEW this was a Rik(ti) roll, but I went anyway, and I'm glad I did.
-
Well, I just played it through, and if there was any change, I can't detect it. Same map, same enemies, same objects. I wonder if an earlier (now fixed) change invalidated the arc.
-
Nice. We can dither endlessly about what should or shouldn't be included and how and in what order, but the idea is sound.

After yesterday's patch, all three of my arcs were invalidated and could not be played. Here's why:
Arc 1:
- Map removed (Crey clone lab map)
Arc 2:
- Map removed (burning forest map)
- Captive descriptions (had captives using the default CoH descriptions for their character type, which has become invalid as the text is now jammed into the Description field and limited to 300 characters)
Arc 3:
- Nothing.
The removed maps I can understand. The default description problems is new and probably a bug, so I can understand that. The one that's troubling me is my third arc, which would not play, but when I opened it in the editor it reported no problems. I republished as-is and now it plays fine.
Better checks those arcs after every patch, people, whether the patch notes mention anything that might affect you or not! -
They should be MUCH more proactive about informing architects when their creations might suddenly become invalidated and incapable of getting played. Two of the three arcs I have up were hit by this one patch, and I didn't know about it until I read this thread.
-
Looks like they just yoinked the burning forest map, hopefully not for good.

There are a couple of maps that are already on fire, but currently no way to start said fires yourself (and they do no damage).

Here are some issues with this idea:
<ul type="square">[*]Some people play to "beat the game". Halving the play time to fifty will send them and their subscription dollars off in search of something else to beat in half the time. [*]The idea that exposing players to more of the game more quickly will somehow help the learning curve is counter intuitive. Giving them more stuff to learn in less time seems like it would make things harder on a new player, not easier.[*]After getting to 50 with this first, super-special, one-time-only toon, leveling every subsequent toon will seem glacially slow by comparison, discouraging resubscriptions. [*]It would create a new reason to complain, whinge at, and badger the devs, the GMs, and customer support. What if you accidently apply the token to the wrong toon? What if you tried it on one toon for a few levels but want to move it to another? Etc.[/list]All in all, it seems like this would create more problems than it would solve.
