Hello all,

Just posted a video trailer for MA Arc 55669, Tales of the PPD: One Hell of a Deal. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

On a related note, what is the (free) video hosting of choice these days? Obviously, Youtube is the 800-pound gorilla, but it seems like whatever I upload comes out muddy and significantly lower in quality. Is there a better alternative? Or will I lose less if I upload a lower-quality video (selectively degrading it myself, as it were)?

Another good one is wegame.com, I believe - do a quick skim of some of the other threads in here and you'll find more info.

Mind you, you can now specify higher quality when you upload to YouTube. Still not quite as good as downloading the original files, but not nearly as lousy.

Thanks for the advice, M/S/D_R (big fan, by the way)...I'll check out wegame.com. I've looked at quite a few of the sites in the Demo Guides and Tools thread, but a 100 MB limit seems to be en vogue at many of them. I'll also explore the higher quality options at Youtube.

BTW, the 100MB limit is really more about containing bandwidth than it is about storage. Not everyone has hellfast internet connections... strange, but true.

In most cases it seems like the videos have been sampled down so far that viewers aren't downloading anything close to 100 megs. My Youtube video was 420 megs going up, but obviously people don't have to wait half an hour to see it, even on dialup. Hence the muddiness...I think I may experiment a bit and try to find the optimum upload quality.

Very nice.
Are you having trouble with the burning forest map? After the great erasure of the other day, that map went missing. I haven't yet looked to see if it's back again.

I'm a bit jealous since I was starting up a similar idea.

Writer of In-Game fiction: Just Completed: My Summer Vacation. My older things are now being archived at Fanfiction.net http://www.fanfiction.net/~jwbullfrog until I come up with a better solution.

Yeah, the burning forest map is down right now, and it invalidated the arc. I swapped the map out for the non-burning version and republished, so it's available for play again. Hopefully we won't have to wait long to get our maps back.

[impressed face] not bad. Not bad at all. Just one thing I would change: The shot of the police car driving down the street. I would change the police car to a either a player character or a Generic PPD npc. I mean, we don't get to use cars in the game.

Otherwise great little commercial.
