Cap and I belong to the same 10 channels.. he keeps telling us. I'm hoping a formal grats works like a binding spell with less gut splatter.
<squeeze hugs the crap out of Cap> Stop talking.. shh.. stop breathing.. good boy.
(( gotta love him, he's a great guy ))

Edit: ROFL! I musta been tired when I saw your response after mine. I assumed you were teasing me for being able to count to two. You meant how many times he .. yeah. Ok. ROFL.
Ah man. <lays head down, grinning> -

Dear OP, please post your man-feelings here in a week, a month, and a year. We'd like to check retention rate and get an idea of why we drive people away screaming. -
Grats on that and your brand spankin' new Bug Hunter! That's like MMO Olympic gold twice. <runs after you with scissors>
Good work, Cap <salutes>. -

Gr.. I'm so bad with military time. I'll probably log in six days and 2 hours late.
-
Ooo.. West Virginia. I know like one guy there and he doesn't play. You'll be replacing him on my circle of friend's call plan <screenies this to email Ryan>

I hope this keeps going until one of you breaks down and sharez some sploitz.

Please see title:
Type your location when you log in such as "Dayjob: Arena".
After an hour or so of playing, I just want to park my character quickly and log off. I'd rather scroll up on my local tab than scroll through a list of 9 inprogress dayjob bars and figure out which reward I was working on for that character. I have over 30 :P
Even if you crash, odds are you'll remember what you typed. It's a mental cue like repeating a phone number or the name of someone you just met. -
Advice posted before:
Quote:Better luck next time....
1. find a team or, better yet, 2. assemble one quickly.
Finding a Team:
- Don't hide; don't set your options to decline invites or to hide your name from local search. Sounds simple but folks (forget and) ask for the last spot on my running teams with their hide option set to decline invitations. I'll just move on to the next pm to keep things moving.
- Set your team search status and a brief message. Good team leaders do scour the /sea window (cherry picking AT) the second they lose their 8th. You could -the- troller they sweep up (especially if it lists your best attribute such as "Kinetic ...").
- Join a task appropriate public global channel. (updated since last year, I now use: Virtue TFs 2010, VU2010, Virtue's LSRF and Virtuebadges09) are great channels for Task/Strike Forces. Virtue LFG Alpha is as well though I use this more for general teaming.
- Create a search message but be specific. If folks ask, "Anything going on?" in Virtue LFG ALpha every 15 minutes, I'll not be inclined to respond. There's a chance the person is not 100% flexible to every type of running team, either the wrong factionside or seeking something entirely different than my team is working on ( let's say we're running papers and the gent is seeking only a TF). I don't have time to answer every broad-sweeping inquiry and field questions when there's a team to focus on. Instead, try typing something like: "Level 35 def Lf short TF or AV arcs. Rad w/ debuffs." Copy-paste your mini-resume into /broadcast, /request, /sg channels, /public global team channels.. you'll probably get a quicker bite before you start asking in the 3rd channel. Note: factionside, level, AT, special abilities, etc.
- Be flexible. Be willing to switch an alt if it's better suited (so long as it's another alt you had level goals for as well).
- Global friends are a lifeline. If they're on, ask if you can join them. But, also, don't be a mooch. If your global friends are on a team of level 50's.. don't ask to bring a level 1. You scale up but your defense and number of powers to contribute is ****.
- Join a good SG or coalition. If you're so inclined and have been procrastinating on searching for one. I listed this last because some people don't play often enough to join (hence, DXP weekend mad runs), shun groups for their own reasons, or have their own SG only for their alts with which to create a private RP home. Hence, it's the least helpful -universal- advice. On the advocates side, most good groups have global channels.. won't hurt to invest with one character out of your 36.
Assembling a Team: (if you've looked and cannot find one running what you wish to do.. ex: Shadow Shard TF, Lusca at 2 am, PvP badge runs)
- If you're a social creature with a global friends list and a SG(s)/VG(s), use those options first to form, fill, and replace. Take care of your friends and they'll take care of you.
- Next, use Broadcast and Request before Global channels. Sure, Broadcast and Request only appear for the zone in which you are located but the people who answer will already be on the right alt, level, and factionside. They'll be less likely to ask "Save me a spot. I'm finishing this mission." or "Lemme switch to heroes." Nothing wrong with waiting... unless six people pm you with the same request to save a spot.
- Join (and use) all the above mentioned public global channels and then some. Global channels help you advertise to those in other zones. Again: (updated for this year: Virtue TFs 2010, VU2010, Virtue's LSRF, Virtue LFG Alpha, Virtuebadges09).
- Create a search message but be specific. "Level 35 tank assembling team for +2 level/8 man mob AV arcs. PST with AT and level." Doesn't hurt to be very specific "Levels 14-37" ( I prefer they have travel powers) or "only need debuff or damage right now." Copy-paste your message but stagger the calls. Don't paste in 10 channels and get overwhelmed with PM's.
- If you still have room, move on to /sea and cherry pick. I ***never*** use the search window *** first, before globals, *** because I can reach more people on channels. You'll be playing a game of wait and answer ten questions..
- Don't hide. People may see your calls, switching alts to join you, and forget your name. It'll come to them if they check /sea.
- Do hide! If you're running a good team of 8 for hours, no need to be pestered by every random "Hey, can I join? PLZ!!!" message out there. Focus on the people you're with and they'll stay.
- Look to fill the second someone advises they are leaving. Keep the team full and running. Every time you refill one new open spot is every time you don't have to search for seven all at once.
Either way:
- When using local or global channels to find or create a team, be courteous and follow up. "Team full. Thanks." "Got one, thanks." Others won't waste their time messaging you.

April's looking good for everyone. Grats Silver Streak, Lineuphere, and Nericus!
C'mon redside. We need more villains sporting club pins. -
Congratulations, Snow Globe.
Completing my collection as well soon. My scrapper's last dayjob is at 99.53%. Feels like the eve of a national (albeit unbeknownst to the rest of the country) holiday.
"2 hours 22 minutes and 7 seconds 'til Happy to Me Day??? The devil you say! Hot ******* dog! " <does a lil dance, makes a lil love> -
I was reading Virtue TFs 2010 the other day when a gentleman berated another for initiating a social conversation. He said, "This is a channel for TF's only. You want to chat, go somewhere else." Initially, I thought, "Well ****, that's rude." but realized.. yeah, look, when we join a group, we're joining a social network with moderators and rules - their rules.
VU2010, formerly VU2009 - VU2008 - VirtueUnited, is a fairly popular global channel. It caps at 2,500 globals nearly every Fall and has maybe a dozen moderators? Moderators aren't paid NCsoft employees, they're players giving up their free time to help run a social network smoothly for all those who wish to join. I know I sure as hell wouldn't have time to interrogate, public poll, and try someone for an offense that is clearly seen from the surface. I'd rather do what's right for the group and lose one person than ten.
Ball's in your court now, Makai. Accept that fact, ask a VU mod if you can rejoin, join a different channel, or make your own. -
Enough to buy myself a grain of sand off a lil island off Talos.
Don't touch it with your toeless blocky feet please. I shoot trespassers. -
Character: My rad corr would be played by Jamie Pressly (Joe Dirt, My Name is Earl). Her mekman's CGI face would be be modeled by Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings).
Co-Directors: Michael Bay (because he's worked with robots before and that mekman is a real p.i.t.a.) & Kevin Smith ( whoo! )
Story: Aftermath of The Coming Storm or a Macy's sale. I want to see how folks react when civilization breaks down. Though my corr would not be a main character, just a bumbling villain-sort to fill in time between action scenes. -
Ultra graphics + new exploration badges?
Sign me up to fall in love with this game all over again. You think teammates will get irritated when I [Walk] between missions? -
Quote:Wallet size. For you.I'd have to say my biggest WTF moment was when I logged into atlas only to find a 15ft tall bald guy with man boobs and legs that seemed to stretch halfway across the zone dancing under the atlas globe. I guess someone had messed with the graphics somehow and made a guy with the bare chested male skin chest detail option, only with a female skeleton so it appeared as if it was a really muscular naked girl with the boob slider all the way up. It was hideous. The guy... girl... thing, made regular appearances in atlas for about a month or so.
I didn't think to take a screenshot, and quite honestly, I'm glad I didn't. -
Had a "WTF did I just do?" moment today. Speeding through a defeat all mission, one of the clockwork ran off and ended up wedged between a wall and some NPC civilian with his hands in the air. Without hesitation, I just shot off a ranged attack. I'm pretty sure it's not heroic to knowingly fire into terrified civilians then laugh aloud to myself but I was in a hurry.
Yes, I was on a hero. -
I vote Mousedroid makes lil comics for all of us

Mag: I didn't delete her until you suggested it..
Jophiel: That costume is awesome. Love that. -
December of 2004:
I was sick of playing my first character, a darkity dark defender, born June 30th. I needed something fiesty and elegant but bold. Tough but smooth. Alas, spines (uncustomizable back then) was ugly. But the action isn't. A combination of melee and range to pivot gracefully and strike out at runners and cowards. My Spines SR began her life as Aranita. She now carries on as Una.
The concept was simple. Aranita was a warrior, an angel and more specifically, a seraphim. Seraphim have six wings gracing their bodies head to toe.
Quote:In her case, with super reflexes, her wings beat furiously at speeds imperceivable to most. These wings, in battle, would fracture and shard. The bones would splinter into the bodies of her enemies and burn out their sins. This also possible as spines has toxic secondary effects.Isaiah(6:1–3)
"... I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and His train filled the Hekhal (sanctuary). Above Him stood the Seraphim; each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew."
Quote:Wikipedia - Seraphim literally means "burning ones" in the Hebrew (Sarap, 'to burn'). The word is sometimes used for venomous snakes (e.g. Isaiah 30v6), possibly due to the burning sensation of the poison. It is often used alongside, or interchangeably with "nachash," (heb. "נחש") a more common and generic term for serpents (e.g. Numbers 21:6-7.)
As for her original name, it's Spanish for "little spider". The wicked only saw her true form when mortally pierced but innocents would sometimes see her shadowed silhouette, that of six boney stripped down wings, and mistake her for a spectral black widow.
This is my favorite costume and her biography:
Quote:Wikipedia: Seraphim appear in the Gnostic text On the Origin of the World. Here they are described as "dragon-shaped angels".
I was working on a longer biography in hopes I'd get the time to post her properly in VirtueVerse but lost focus everytime a group project came along.
The origin of her first name:
Before she was Una, she was called Aranita - the little spider. To awestruck onlookers that's how she first appeared, at twilight, cast as a spoked shadow which flickered furiously against the earth's floor and cliff walls. Not physically visible to the innocent in those days, only ever to the wicked once pierced, Aranita was a tale patched together from the mouths of children. Such a story, with evidence found in morning light, frightened even the most cynical adults in their village. Their collective stories echoed the vision of an ever-changing woman's silhouette; "she had a six, eight, no.. perhaps it was ten and two legs". Some regarded the strange formations as arms. Long, twisting spindles that arched from behind her torso and reached out in every direction. "Legs don't have hands..." said one observant child. "Though. she carried with her not one weapon." Terrifying more that the appendages broke off at times, piercing deep the other shadows, rendering lifeless the invading armies to their homeland. And so it was, the angel with broken wings set six pair as Seraphim's are, was first named by the children along the Mediterranean coast of Hispania. -
I don't worry so much about single word names in respect to copyright.. since I'm not copying an existing character. Take Dakota for example. How easy is it for there to be tons of media with the name Dakota in it. There's a movie called Dakota, a restaurant in Idaho, a stripper named Dakota, a racehorse named Dakota, etc etc. If I'm lucky to find a simple name I enjoy and just whip out a costume and bio from my head, I'm confident that I won't be generic'd because some state official called NC. Copyright violations, to me, are "likeness" and "concept" attached to a name and not just the name itself.

Never really had a problem with obtaining a name on Virtue. Though, I had fun doing something new recently. Usually land a fairly decent name and -then- make the character. This time, the character was created and costumed first without any preconceived idea for a name. Crazy, right? Could have been there all night. I'm such a risk-taker!
Friends kept telling me how much fun fire/kins are. Jumped into the character creator and made a fairly plain model. Kept staring at all the hair and costume options in reds, orange hues and golds. Finally whipped one up with a swank bob of copper hair and gold undertones... stared at her for all of three seconds and thought, "Oh that's a cheerleader named Peaches if I ever saw one." Peaches didn't quite fit. Gave a few more seconds thought to her personality and vocabulary. Imagined her bouncing around and brightly chirping out how "Peachy Keen!" everything was. And since she is a kinetic, "Peachy Kin" was chosen and registered.
Total time on selecting a name that was available: far far less time than settling on hair. Minutes. Maybe that is an option for folks who have trouble coming up with names. I see threads and posts stating powersets and general background.. maybe they can create their look, capture printscreen to post, use the costume save option and then post. So many common powerset combos and background ideas mesh together over time but costume designs are still fairly highly individual.
