C'mon people, double the exploration badges and new neighborhood accolades? Plus, more badges earned badges?

It's funny but I never thought those "count" badges made much sense, even from the beginning before Vet badges or anything like that. I just don't see the allure of a badge that I get just because I earn an X number of other badges. They seem more like "player/account badges" that have nothing to do with the individual characters in question. Let's put it this way: Does the US Army have any kind of award or medal you get -just- because you've earned a certain number of other unrelated medals? If they do I'd be kind of surprised.

Anyway it's not that big a deal and it's not like I'm mad they added more. Just saying I could have lived without them. At least I'll be getting the 500 count badge the instant I17 goes live and the 750 count probably within a day or two after that (with all the new explore badges). The only encouraging thing I see from them giving us a 1,000 count badge is that the Devs at least think the game will be around long enough for people to earn that one.

I do have to wonder if the new exploration badges will be required for the SG teleport beacons.

I also have to wonder if the new accolades will be "just" badges or if they'll have powers attached to them. If they do have powers attached and with the new craftable temps, man, it it going to get hard to keep a full listing of powers shown in the UI.

Edit: Ohh and does the new Posi TF have a new badge attached (even if it's one of those "internal TF badges" like Heatseeker or Diplomat)?

Given the apparent increase in the developers' interest in Exploration Badges, one can assume the trend will continue to (or possibly, that this is a continuation of) the new zones that will be released in Going Rogue.

Between new Exploration Badges now, the new Going Rogue badges soon, and the presumed ability to switch sides and get all of their badges as well, having 1000 badges isn't really out of the question.

Well Blondeshell (in another badge thread) estimated that crossing over for Going Rogue would allow heroes and villains to get up to about 810 badges each give or take. If we can assume (based on the wording of the I17 announcement) that we are going to get around 100 new exploration badges on top of that then it seems possible that we could find ourselves up to around 900 known badges by the time Going Rogue happens.

Therefore it would seem that 1,000 badges may be possible within a few Issues past GR which ought to give us at least another couple years' worth of play at the very least.

They make even less sense now that your badge count is displayed in big happy numbers at the top of the info screen.

You can learn new Accolades for finding all of the exploration badges in each city zone.
Don't know where "neighborhood accolades" is coming from. Of course, I don't know how you can "learn" an accolade either (probably meant 'earn').

Let's just chalk this up to an unclear press release and wait for more info.

Glad I got the SG beacons I wanted now, anyways. Market interface changes seem nice at first glance, email changes nice as well, as it means I won't have to lose 10% to market fees when transferring inf anymore.

I am going to guess the "revamped" Posi will be the current TF, split in half, done twice, with hopefully a lot less defeat-alls and no more Rollister mission. I assume there'll be an AV in it now, but with powers up to 20 it won't be much of an issue (especially if it takes after the other upper teen/low 20's Faultline AVs).

Even if you don't factor in crossing over villains are currently less than 100 total badges behind heroes. If they're going to continue adding large numbers of badges like they're talking about with this Issue then it's conceivable heroes and villains who -don't- crossover may still be able to break the 1,000 badge point eventually.

Thematically speaking one of my two main badgers would probably -not- crossover if given the choice as a character so the question of badging without crossing over is actually of interest to me as well. I may end up having one of them crossover and the other not just to have both bases covered depending on how it's all going to work out.

This. While I applaud the idea of more exploration being rewarded, I don't want to have to get 100+ new badges just to have beacons to existing zones.

The new badge count badges: Meh. Did we really need epic badge count badges? Not really, we have a nice friendly badge count at the top of the badge info tab.

I hope the following have been added:
  • Separate badges for components of the Vandal Badge. (+4 Villains)
  • Separate badges for each of the invention crafting badges that require two different levels of crafts. (+36 to both sides.)
  • Separate badges for each AV in the game (minus the ones who already has one). This should solve the Dimensional Warder issue for good. (This should be fairly equal to both sides.)
  • Separate badges for fires and the hellions in the Steel Canyon Event (+3 Heroes.)

This list could add nearly 100 badges.

Well, I say bring any badge you want to the game. wether or not people feel its nessesary or not, I welcome them. Regardless of how easy or hard they are to get.

I've been here since beta, so to me any badge you want to call Epic is a plus to me, I think its Epic that many of us have been here and are still here since the beginning of this game.

I can't really say if I'll switch sides or not with my main, it all depends on what it costs me. I've been with my SG for over 5 years and would hate to have to leave the group just to grab a few badges. Not counting losing my rank, my join date, my presitge totals for the SG..etc...etc. So if that is what it costs, then I will stay strictly as a Hero.

I will just take advantage of switching side with my alts. Just have to wait and see how it plays out I suppose.
