I am having fun while doing the Trials, especially when our team/league leader is knowledgeable and gives good direction (and when the rest of the team *listens* to the leader!)
I also have the enthusiasm which comes from *years* of wishing that Amerikatt had an AoE heal, which helped to override the frustation of 14 failed Lambda Sector Trials (which is what it took for me to unlock both types of Incarnate slots)!
While I will be pursuing the Tier 4 Destiny, I do not anticipate going after that level in the other three powers, nor will I be grinding for other characters. For me, it is a win-win situation, though, because Amerikatt gets the power most important to her, gains new abilities to round her out, I-salvage for the other powers, and tons of Prestige for my SG.
For me, it is only a grind if I let it be. Lambda *was* a grind -- a *very* frustrating grind. A grind which did not yield anything beyond the joy of seeing the "Destiny Slot Unlocked" message blaze across the computer monitor. Thank goodness for debt badges! -
While I was grinding to unlock the Destiny slot (the only one I really care about, since I have been waiting YEARS to get an AoE heal), I ran through the Lambda Sector trial fourteen times. Never saw a reward table, though I *did* get to be on a first-name basis with the nurse in the hospital (averaging 4-6+ trips per Trial).

Quote:It would make sense to upgrade the Apex and Tin Mage Task Forces to Incarnate Trials, as they are post-50 content and should offer Shards/Threads and Components commensurate with the Incarnate theme.I would prefer to do none of the trials, and be able to acquire the new slots by completing the missions and task forces I like to play, rather than having to compete in trials I don't like to play. If they want people to play their trials, they should concentrate on making them fun and engaging, and not resort to bribery.
However, it would not make sense to offer those same rewards for the Positron TF or for any other pre-Alpha slot content.
While some people may not like certain parts of the Incarnate system, it makes sense from both a roleplaying/backstory and development perspective.
As the story of Incarnates, the Well, Praetoria, and goodness knows what else continues, we should feel that things are building to an epic apex and be immersed in that epicness if we are truly to gain the experience of becoming an Incarnate. -
1. Whiskers for the new cat faces;
2. Small (domestic-size) cat heads with a benign, less aggressive expression;
3. Kitten and Cat character models (quadrapeds, please);
4. Actual masks for animal characters, *not* just a differently color area on the face which *resembles* a vague mask; and
5. Realization by certain people that not *all* characters are human or humanoid. This is *not* a **** Sapiens-only club, so may we *please* have less anthropomorphization and more customization? -
Quote:Thanks very much, SirFrederick!ToTing in costume in PI, I picked up three Halloween tips in the past 45 minutes. I'd say it's just the RNG playing tricks on you. Keep at it, and best of luck!
After posting the initial edit, I *did* *finally* manage to get a Hallowe'en tip mission. I ran it, went back to ToT'ing, then got another one, helping me to finish my set of 5 event badges and earning the accolade.
I had to laugh.
The RNG must have been rolling a year's worth of 1's between last night and this morning
I went back to ToT'ing ... and got *another* Hallowe'en tip mission!
Just for giggles, I did that 6th mission ... and was dismayed when 4 of the reward options were large inspirations and the 5th reward was a measly 5,000 Influence.
Darn diminishing returns!
Clear skies to you, SirFrederick!

I have gotten the mission (Whispered Rumors) 3 of the 5 times needed for the accolade, then it suddenly stopped dropping for me. I would like to finish getting the accolade today, before the Devs pull the Hallowe'en Event and I have to wait until November.
I have been fighting Trick or Treat mobs in Peregrine and have gotten all kinds of salvage, temp powers, and even Shards! I even wore one of the costumes when going door-to-door!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Suggestions?
Thanks!
EDIT: I took a break from Trick or Treating and did a regular tip mission. When I went back to ToT'ing, I got a tip mission -- but it was a regular one. (*sigh*) -
Thanks for the great replies!
I *do* sometimes help guildies and coalies with lower level missions, and run the occasional lowbie TF.
However, it does not sound as if it is worth the time and expense of using 12+ respecs.
Clear skies to you all! -
I am in the process of respec'ing my character, and I thought I had heard a while ago that there was some benefit to using Build 3.
I did notice that the +45% Endurance Reduction from my very rare Cardiac alpha shows the reduced amount, even when there are no enhancements slotting.
Any help would be appreciated, since I have a lot of sets on the character and it would take about a dozen respecs to transfer those sets to the new build.
Thanks very much! -

While the 1930's saw the rise of the American Hero, in Germany they saw the rise of a totalitarian regime. The Nazis presented a growing threat to freedom in Europe and eventually the entire world. Hitler and his followers had transformed Germany into a powerful military industrial state with one of the largest and most technologically advanced armies in the world. By the time World War II broke out, the United States had finally begun to look beyond its own troubles and realize that they had larger problems to deal with.
In Europe, Great Britain held on by its fingernails, protected from German invasion by its air force, dwindling navy and dedicated but small bands of heroes such as the Dawn Patrol. The Nazis had just revealed their own team of super powered soldiers called the Storm Korps, thus changing the face of modern warfare forever. In Asia, Japan had already occupied huge swaths of China and Southeast Asia and now threatened American holdings in the Philippines and even the West Coast. It seemed inevitable that the US would eventually get drawn into the war. The American military sluggishly geared up for war and, based on events in Europe, began recruiting heroes into its ranks.
It was almost too little too late. On December 7th, 1941 the US was forcefully brought into the war with simultaneous attacks on each of its potential fronts. In Hawaii the Japanese launched a massive air strike against naval forces at Pearl Harbor. In Paragon City a cadre of Nazi heroes made a similar, equally devastating attack. Paragon City's harbor was the staging ground for America's lend/lease program whereby it transported military equipment to the beleaguered British Isles. The largest convoy ever had assembled at Paragon City, hundreds of cargo ships protected by a fleet of US Navy warships and submarines. In the space of a few hours, Nazi insurgents struck all across the harbor. Super strong soldiers ripped apart ships with their bare hands. Flight pack equipped storm troopers zipped across the water firing high-powered rocket guns into fragile hulls. Blasts of pure energy ripped through the night, leaving death and devastation in their wake.
The Freedom Phalanx roused itself to take on the Nazi attack, but by the time they organized a response the attack was nearly over. The Germans made a fighting retreat as the sea burned with flaming oil and thousands sank to watery graves. In the wake of such disaster, Congress was quick to declare war on both Axis powers. The first into the fight were those very heroes who had been burned during the raid on Paragon City. The Freedom Phalanx, its ranks swelling with new volunteers, made a harrowing journey across the Atlantic to help reinforce the Dawn Patrol in England.
Paragon City became the main recruiting ground for super powered soldiers. The US Army set up a special training facility in the city and amended the recruitment laws to allow costumed and anonymous heroes to enlist in the war effort. Heroes from across the country and throughout the Western Hemisphere came to the city and learned to not only use their powers and abilities but also how to fight as part of an army. Fighting mobsters and costumed maniacs in the streets was one thing, but fighting thousands of armed troops led by trained, super soldiers was quite another. By 1942 the first group of new recruits was formed into the 1st Hero Brigade and was ready to ship off to England.
As the 1st Hero Brigade gathered for its send off in Liberty Plaza, the ground shook with a tremendous roar and a preternatural blackness blocked out the sun. Up from beneath he city streets came Nazi Super soldiers wearing the red and black uniforms that would soon become feared up and down the Eastern seaboard: the Fifth Column had made itself known. The Nazi troops had been in hiding ever since the December 7th attacks, waiting for a chance to strike again. This time, the villains did not have so easy a time. The fighting First Brigade rose to the occasion and won the first of many epic battles against Nazi forces both at home and abroad. Beaten but not defeated, the Fifth Column fled back into hiding, only to return time and again over the next four years. As for the 1St Hero Brigade, they shipped off to Europe to take the fight straight to the enemy." -
My favorite, of course, is Amerikatt (non-shapeshifting, non-Kheldian Peacebringer).
The PB AT is perfect for her. Who else but a cat is going to have an Inherent ability which gives her bonuses based on who's petting and/or fussing over her (Cosmic Balance)?!
She is a great all-around utility character and can heal, 'tank', blast, and even do a tiny bit of crowd control. She's better at that than any other cat, but any deficiencies can be attributed to her *being* a cat. I am sure that reassures all of the other Healers, Tanks, Blasters, and Controllers on teams with her.
She can fly long distances, or just leap around frenetically (Beast Run).
She is a joy to play, and certainly bolsters my spirits if RL concerns get to be a bit too much.
Best of all, I have gotten a lot of support from the CoH community, both in-game and on the Forums. Thanks!
Clear skies, everyone! -

My all-time favorite dialogue comes from the Carnie Strongmen when they get the dialogue of their female comrades:

My favorite Morality Mission dialogue is in "The Usual Suspect".
(*SPOILER ALERT*)
At that mission's end, I am confronted by my Mysterious Double, who tries to convince herself that she's the real Amerikatt and tells me (paraphrased) to do "that villainous thing you do!" (and to dispatch her) -

I love this game tremendously, and expect to be playing Amerikatt until the servers close sometime in 2036, but 3 things I would change are:
1. Add fully poseable and customizable cat and kitten models;
2. Extend the Invention System badges/accolade so that they need only be completed on one character in order to be unlocked for all characters on an account (such as is possible with some Mission Architect badges); and
3. Add a Recipe Storage Rack/Table to the base item menu, since some of us like to craft our recipes for personal use rather than sell them for ebil profits, but they often come so fast and furiously that we are overwhelmed. -
Dear Santy Clawz:
I hope that you're doin' well this holiday season (and all year-round).
Once again, I have been a *very* good kitty, even though my extradimensional counterpart, Praetorikatt, keeps trying to lure me to the Dark Side with promises of squeaky toys!
I have left some special treats for you when you come to visit me again in the Katt Kave -- Hot Cocoa (with those mini-marshmallows that you like so much), a large batch of Poutine, Oatmeal Raisin & Kibble Cookies, and a crateful of suntan lotion (with cocoa butter and aloe) for the post-holiday season.
Since the Furless grown-ups are making a list, I thought I'd do the same.
Pleez, I kan haz:
1. BABsy back amongst his throng of adoring fans. He was the bestest!
2. Posi put into indefinite time-out for repeatedly using Power Suppression on me at the City Birthday Party this past April.
3. Opposable thumbs.
4. Steelclaw's suggestion come to fruition.
5. Extra enhancer slots for the Kheldy powers.
6. Color customization for Kheldy powers, Power Pools, and Ancillary Powers.
7. Dressable Cat and Kitten models for player characters, as well as the ability to shrink player characters down to about 1' tall.
8. More ways to earn extra Salvage and Recipe slots in-game.
9. A most joyous holiday season for all of the nommy peeps at Paragon Studios!
Thanks, Santy!

Beautiful gallery of artz, Caem! I particularly like the masked Fenian (at least, I *think* that's Fenian) in Post #512.
BTW, I looked and looked but could not find your faithful sidekick (and shoulder kitty). I wonder what's happened to her!
Thanks for sharing your fabulous collection with us!
