Quote:There is a SIMPLE solution to this issue...just add to the Base Editor. Don't change existing items or affects. For example...adding a new beaker holder with the beakers would have been better than changing the old one.You know, when it's considered a bad change to make a thing more closely resemble the thing it's supposed to resemble, because people have been using that thing as a kludge to represent a whole bunch of other things it's not really intended to resemble... there are problems. Big problems.
When the current bases are so heavily reliant on completely unintended side effects of the original design, it becomes difficult to even tell when you're going to break something.
Adding a choice to choose no SG Logo would give us transparent glass.
Adding 2 more Entry room sizes.
Adding Multiple door width choices.
Adding, Adding, Adding.
Not nerfing, nerfing, nerfing.
Simple solution.
EDIT: and while I'm at it...when it comes to second floors...simply making the floor tile non-tranparent from the bottom would go a long way. -
I know that increasing to +4/+8 reduces the number of quality drops. I have no idea why though.
BUT, I have yet to try lower than +2/+8...truthfully the thought never occurred to me.
I would be interested to knwo the results.
At +2/+8 I get about 3 or more purples per week...usually...and IF I do a lot of farming.
These days though, I barely farm. -
Bump...because I still like the idea...even though AE has been nerfed to the point of uselessness.

I'm sorry I missed this opportunity. I have close to 90 million unused Prestige in my Freedom Base, and it's a tech base. Membership is low (on purpose) until I finish the huge makeover I started a few months ago.
6 months ago, we were extremely active, and I plan to be so again. I just want my base finished first.
And I was planning a huge "control" meeting room, but haven't started it yet -
Quote:If that is indeed the case, they could make an incredible impact just by letting us know they plan the overhaul and an (approximate) time of arrival. The problem is, the Devs might not be happy with it.
And if they're thinking they might overhaul the whole system at some point, that means they're probably reluctant to expend resources to make minor improvements to the existing one.

If it's something that keeps getting pushed back because they view everything else as more important, then it will never get done.
And it is important to us.
Gotta say, Star Trek Online had a few demo weekend last weekend. I tried it and loved the experience I had. It costs the same amount monthly as this game.
So right about now, I'm asking myself why I'm continuing to play CoH when the devs keep ignoring the needs of my favorite part of the game. I have been month to month for well over a year now (went for longer subscriptions before) because I went through a period when I was ready to quit CoH...I didn't, but I pay monthly now because I want to believe the Devs care as much for me and what the base builders need as they do for all the other subscribers in the game.
But after more than a year of waiting...I'm wondering why I'm even bothering anymore. That's not meant to be a threat, just my honest feelings.
I though Mission Architect would be an acceptable outlet, but because of the AE Babies (which were mostly kids out for summer break), the MA sustem has been nerfed to the point that I can't stand it anymore. The Devs have spent so much time nerfing it, that they have hardly made improvements in the system at all.
It's like they put something good into the game, then move on and ignore the idea of making it better...on nearly everything, honestly. If it needs work, they nerf the heck out of it.
Base Raids? Nerfed because it needed work. Mission Architect? Nerfed the heck out of it because people used it to farm (never mind that farming occurs anyway). Bases? Just ignore them and maybe the current generation of complainers will be replaced by a new one that is starving for ANY news at all.
I can understand nerfing exploits...totally. But when you do things like reducing experience in AE (for example) you just undermine the intent of the system.
All of which really has nothing to do with this thread though. I'm just sharing my frustrations with the direction the game is going.
I mean, let's be honest here. Going Rogue will be coming out soon. How long will it be before Demon Summoning is nerfed like crazy because players are bringing their DS toons over to blueside to farm BM?
It's like they promise a ton of stuff, give it to us, then nerf it so much they take the joy out of things. Let down after let down.
And still, bases are ignored. Neglected. CoH was the first MMO loyal to my favorite Genre (superheroes) and I have been playing it since beta. I have been commited through thick and thin.
But lately, I have been asking myself...why? Because the parts that keep me here, Base Building for example, are either totally ignored or totally nerfed to the point that they are useless (see MA).
I use to run multiple accounts...now I run one...month to month. Hoping...HOPING things will change and get better. But all I see are neat little things added that have no lasting thrill because of the nerfs that follow. At least base building is a long term enjoyment...and I DO enjoy it (it's the only reaosn I am still here), but frankly, after being ignored for nearly half a decade, I'm feeling more slighted then anything else.
So, Developers, stop avoiding this thread like it's the plague and show us you actually care. Let us know Base Builders are cared about...not with just words, but a commitment to action.
Or will you continue to ignore the issue as usual? -

But as another note, I would like the ability to make entrance rooms larger or smaller.
I mean, what says: awesome place more than a huge, grandiose entrance?
Will probaby post it tomorrow.
And I really don't expect results...just wanting to have some fun doing the list. If it "happens" to inspire devs...that would be cool. -
Double Doors...wouldn't they be awesome?
-
I got to see that base up close last week...a very nice job.
-
Yes, this is yet another list. But instead of posting a text list, I want to post images of the items I want.
First up...2nd floors to bases. One way to provide the option is this:
-
I'm fine with the existing editor for now. Although, I could live with a few improvements.

Quote:No, not ticked. Just use to posting on sports forums where links are provided to backup claims so we know they are facts and not opinions. I really meant no offense by it.True, but the most likely people to ask questions in "Player Questions" are people new to the game, and probably not as comfortable with search features (and most certainly not aware of the Wiki). I know a lot of the same questions do get asked with regularity, but it is good to remember that they're often being asked to people that are still feeling their way around. Questions should be welcomed and answered as courteously as possible.
And the OP might have been tricked by others before, heh. Still, I know how it goes. A little part of me cries whenever someone asks why they can't find people in game, as it has been answered so much. I just asked Mod 8 to get a sticky up in the Victory section on the subject, so hopefully more people will not have to ask the question that has been answered so often. Teams are out there, here's how to look! -
I also noticed the backup batteries no longer have power going through them. I wish this were not the case, because they look really cool.
-
Quote:Asking people to back up their words with proof is not wrong are asking them to do the work for "me". It's simply wanting facts, not theory.

Great job, Swergen. I would love to see it up close. You know me from BBI, toss me a tour when we both have time
-
Will we have to start a toon from scratch in order to have him change sides? Or can a pre-existing level 50 make the switch?
Please provide Dev statements for proof if possible. -

But I totally designed one that's easier to use. -
While setting up our AE arcs, it would be cool if we could choose 3 different settings of lighting (perhaps Daylight, Sunset and Night) that would work indoor and outdoors (for example, I might want to make a dark, horror-themed indoor arc).
Another cool feature, would be evironmental affects...for example:
Cold (resulting in ice on the floors)
Foggy (resulting in visual limitations (aka, long-range blindness))
Burning (smoke and fires)
Rain (which I can understand would be hard since we don't have it in the regular game)
These ideas are strickly meant to help with story-telling, but then, that's what AE is for. -
I THINK I figured it out.
I had the new UTorrent program running in the system tray both times. I turned it off, restarted the computer and boom, no more issues.
So something in the latest UTorrent program update interferes with the DBase Server.
(I play on Freedom, fyi) -
So, thru Refer a Friend, I brought my wife back to the game.
According to the Refer a Friend policy, she and I split 30 days of free time.
For me, this worked fine.
But for her, she got charged for the following 30 days instantly...not at the end of the 15 days of free time.
The idea of having Refer a Friend is so that they have 15 days to tryout the game before commiting to a month again. Sort of a free trial activation.
However, suddenly she gets charged instantly? Very bad policy, and come Monday morning, support will be getting a phone call from me. -
Well, that's just plain stupid (not you, Eva Destruction...the limit if it's true).
So, if we're fighting 52s (hence the +2), we get experience as though they are 50s???
That makes no sense at all. The difference settings have to make a difference, so I think you are mistaken, Eva Destruction.
First, you have to have more experience for fighting higher level mobs.
Second, the +8 setting has you fighting MORE mobs, so you have to get more experience for that as well.
If boosting mobs from 50 to 54 does not increase the experience, then the developers are robbing players of a good experience...and a fair one.
I userstand them wanting to reduce farming, but give me a break. The Devs are ruining a good tool (AE) because of kids taking advantage over a summer break.
And yes...another summer break is coming and we will see a severe increase of idiocy in the game...but that has been the case each and every year since game launch.
I really could care less if AE is used for farming. The only thing that bugged me was that Atlas Park got so crowned that it was hard to move.
They should have a Rikti war ship detroy the AE building in Atlas. That would solve more issues than these nerfs. -
Okay, this is really ticking me off. I eventually had to give up yesterday, then I just tried, logged on and it let me on, then tried switching toons and suddenly will not let me on.
I'm beginning to think the subcription should be pro-rated -
Now it let me on another server, so I tried switching and it won't let me back on again. Grrrrr!
Totally missed out on my team event. -
Tried Verifying files AND safe Mode. I get to the login screen and the first time I try to logon, I see the servers, choose one and am booted back to the login screen. It then won't even show me the servers after that.
It's the same message we get when the servers are being updated. -
Everything has been running fine...now it won't connect to DBase. It's like the servers are down...but the are not.
