How does the titan even fit in the sewers? That has to be weird.
Red side could be fun. Grandville in the main square. -
There are some weird issues you can get with microsoft and pagefiles with a set size. Can you try setting it to the let your overlords at microsoft decide for you? That way it will be dynamic.
Did you ever check the windows log file, I forget where it is at the moment, usually just pops up after a crash in win 7.
Did you ever install the chipset drivers for your mobo? You might want to either do a clean install and/or update every driver on the system. Windows installs generic drivers and the manufacturer's often work better. -
Quote:Personally I would go with the GTX 560Ti but I'm cheap. The GTX 570 is generally 15% faster in games than the GTX 560Ti, but is that worth $95-110 and 50 watts more power (170 Vs 220)?
Compared to the 8500GT, either card will be an extreme improvement.
Go with the one that has more memory.
I'd look at getting a bigger monitor too. More pixels = more productivity with things like excel, word, etc.
a 1080p tv would be OK for gaming, you'll likely find it blurry for productivity. -
What happens of you use another browser?
IEX, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc? -
Quote:Thank youOpen the Menu. Go to Options. On the General tab scroll down to the Chat section. There are entries for Log Chat and Log Private Messages. I believe the current default setting on characters is Disabled. I think it used to be Enabled by default, but it's been too long and my memory may be playing tricks on me.

Quote:Not if he has to pay for the two 4 gig dimms. That particular board supports up to 8GB's... so your nephew may happy about that.
Getting 4 * 2 gig is a lot cheaper. On the other hand, running two dimms is less noise and less likely you need to play with voltages or other settings to get it working. Four dimms will do more advanced interleaving and potentially give better bandwidth.
So many trade offs,
Non the less, its late and I wander though the subject. -
I have a 41 elec/elec stalker. I very much enjoy him. If you have a presence on infinity and want to do a few miss with me to get the feel send me a pm.
I do good satrong single target damage. I do awesome AOE damage. Without any extra resists from power pools etc I have capped energy 75% and 41% or so in most everything else. This is with only a couple set bonuses, being 41 I am a mix of SO's basic IO's and a little franken slotting to hold me to 50. With power surge up, Toxic is at 53%% Psi at 38% everything else is 75%
I have a self heal that is up fairly often.
I can stealth to the end or fight my way though rather quickly. If I am farming mob type X for a badge or whatever I can set the mission diff up and do just fine. I can solo and add real effective damage to a team.
I know there are many many workable classes for what your asking, I am putting in my vote for elec/elec or whatever defense set you like stalker.
Before the heal was added to electric armor I had to rely on call of the sandman procs in three of my attacks for healing. Now I have both.
Of course whatever fits your play style and you enjoy likely works best. -
Quote:I was comparing the -KB bonuses not saying go out and fill every power posible with kinetic crash.... though the set does have some nifty bonuses. But the OP should keep in mind that using Kinetic Crash will increase the KB mag of attacks, and will very likely turn KD powers into KB. Okay if you like that sort of thing, but not everyone does. Personally, I hate it.
+3% run speed
+2.5% Smash Resist
-3 pts KB
+6% regin
+7.5% Global Recharge
Almost worth 6 slotting gale and never using it, eh?
Seriously aside from the +KB to that power which some people like some dont so we'll leave that aside, it is a good set for bonuses. -
Having worked in the business, debit card fraud claims, you never know where a web site has their physical point of transaction.
What is worse, some banks (some very evil greedy banks) cough*BofA*cough charge you a percent of the transaction as an 'out of country' fee (not to change currency thats even more - simply because the transaction is out of country) and then tell the customer it is mandated by visa (though I never saw actual proof of that and I took a $500 visa regulations class). -
Thank you for telling me where the logs are saved so I can easily find them. How would one turn the logging on and off?

There are some significant driver model and IO changes from XP to vista/7. It could be an OS problem.
Then again I never heard that Cryptic ever started to officially support vista (and if not vista defiantly not 7)
I was just able to enable 3d sound using comparability mode. I had not know that.
If it is any consolation, you need to click the UAC button all the time anyways because COH elevates itself to run at ADMIN level to avoid problems applying patches.
Not to see if I will take a performance hit. -
I have been very happy with Asus boards.
As a suggestion, decide how much ram you will want now, and possibly in the future. I mention because there are boards with 2 or 4 dimm slots as well as boards with 6.
Decide if you want to stick with ddr2, which is now getting to be more expensive, but you might have some old memory laying around. Or go with dd3 the current standard. That will determine what CPU / board you get.
Once you pick a board read the supported CPU list closely. For example an asus m2n 68 plus only supports certain revision numbers of the athlon dual core cpu's.
The AMD Penom ii or Athlon ii (no lvl 3 cache) are good deals for the price.
I just got my nephew an asus m2n 68 plus and its a really nice board, the only thing I find lacking (for me no big deal for him) is it only has two dimm slots. So while it can go to 4 gigs 2* 2gig sticks can cost more then 4* 1gig.
The other key thing to look for is do you want it to support crossfire and/or SLI. Not all boards support the technologies.
www.pricewatch.com is a good place to chop for part. Just check out the businesses though http://www.resellerratings.com/ before buying to make sure they dont have a nasty rep. -
I will certainly keep your discovery in mind, however, for a project I have in mind, how would I turn my chat log on and off?
I have made a channel called proc and want to see if and how often each of my special IO's goes off. Just looking for specific graphics does not really work. I wish Hero Stats tracked it, or perhaps it does and I just dont know what the activations are called. -
I am talking about things like putting the energy manipulator chance to stun in stamina kinda thing.
Take an AT, pick the appropriate number or slots for each ability, take good abilities and then pick IO's that just wont get the job done.
How well could one design a character to disable and defeat itself. -
I guess we all come here with differing expectations and desires.
I dont have issues soloing or finding teams with my PB. Nor did I spend billions to make it functional.
I have at times recently been the primary damage dealer on an 8 man TF team. There also was a scrapper and a blaster, both single target builds. I could fly up, blast my two AOE's and have the spawn at a sliver of health.
I suspect those who dislike the AT are people who come with a preconceived notion that 'uber' means qualities x and y in this amount or greater only. The people who do like the AT are individuals who are flexible and adaptable and the tools provided and make them work. -

Quote:Can yo check the windows error logs? What error is it listing?Thank you all for your help. We've gotten a new sound card, one that is listed as compatible with Windows 7. All the drivers are newly installed after the windows 7 install- in other words, we didn't upgrade, its a from scratch install. Whats happening is that he will be able to play with no issues at all, get through almost a whole mission (on one occasion got just past a mission), and then the screen will lock up. No ctrl-alt-del to taskmanager, no ESC, no crash log from CoX, etc. Basically, forced to do a hard boot from there. Prior to the crash, there doesn't seem to be any video glitch, or sound glitch. There is the slightest of lag right before the crash, but thats it.
Also, @zombie man, I tried running the hijack this, but its telling me its being denied access to write to the hosts file. I confess ignorance on this, but not sure how to work around that. Finally, I disabled the aero themes, and the game no longer seems to be running in windowed mode. We are running out of things to try, but you have given us some solid ideas. We are willing to keep taking a shot. Gladly welcoming any new suggestions! -
I have the kinetic crash set on my PB with 3 pts of -kb. It stops almost everything. Four points is even better.

Well, with monitors bigger is better. Really. It'll make the game look better and you'll be able to see details you missed before.
Bigger monitors will make your vid card work harder too.
Here are a few things:
I have had to deal with the same kind of problem in the past. It may well be the driver or another software conflict with it.
It also could well be the vid card over heating or failing (as said above).
Doing the driver cleaner thing is a good start.
If it is the vid card there may be an easy fix.
See: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?...highlight=bake
Or other threads on how to bake your vid card.
Also see : http://www.frys.com/product/6231920?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG Geforce 210 for 49.99 and comes with a $20 rebate, so really 29.99
There are plenty of new video cards to be had under $50 and it would upgrade you to dx 10 or 11 as well.
this one is $60 has more dram too, all those fancy ultra mode options and aa/af eat up a lot of ram.
I've had some luck with good prices on amazon too for monitors and computer parts. -
You sure have a high expectation of what $10 should be able to buy.
You could have instead posted that the pack was a start and you were really hoping for....
Turning it into a positive rather then a rant.... More chance someone, like an artist, will react to it and you get what you want. -
I agree about the ones being listed most being annoying.
The whole stealth / escort thing bugs me a lot. As with others my only defense will often come from steamy mist or the like.
The tip I hate the most is red side where you have to kill two helpless heroes. It's like even evil greedy people can have some honor or ethics. I think that one should be changed to you capture them and/or click them and the med transporter goes off.
I dont like many of the vigilante to villain tips. To grim and sadistic for my taste.
I dont know I skip any, though I will likely start with the two hero one now, just never thought of skipping them before i guess.
Along the same thought, does anyone adjust the difficulty up or down to run tips? -

The hard part about building a computer is specking out the parts and making sure you got everything before you started.
Quick list: off the top of my head no promises I didnt forget a part
You likely have many parts already
Keyboard / mouse
Monitor
Case
Power Supply
Motherboard
CPU / heat sink
Video/sound (both can come with the mobo on board sound is OK video usually not)
Ram (ddr2 or dd3 depending on the cpu/motherboard)
Hard drive
Optical Drive
amd retail cpu's come with the heatsink OEM dont, some newer cpu's have built in video
Associated cables, likely came with the parts but not for sure.
Read up on your motherboard. Not just the part about how much max memory it supports, also how many dimm slots it has. More slots is better.
Operating System
COH
Notes: Nvidia video cards tend to work (a little) better with COH.
Once you have your parts you just need a screwdriver to put it together. Take your time and read up first and it is easy.
There are lots of websites like www.hardocp.com where you can get advise and instructions on how to do everything.
If it doesnt power up the first time or two you try and turn it on, dont freak, you just forgot to plug in a cable somewhere.
