Quote:Procs fire independent of secondary effects, the KB doesn't need to go off for the recharge proc to fire. If you can spare the slot, putting one of these procs in a fast recharging single target attack is good for EBs and AVs. It's a waste to put one in all single target attacks imo.Just some comments as I come to them in your build:
Force Feedback is most effective in Footstomp. It's a bit odd to see it in single target attacks, especially when the knockback isn't even guaranteed to happen in powers like haymaker and punch, giving you an even lower chance of it firing. I'd use damage procs in there instead. -
great power for any stalker, phenomenal power for any stalker with defence.
Highly recommend picking it up, Blue. -
I treat playing my DM/Nin as if I need to get rid of the problem mobs in a spawn for my team asap.
Debuffers, mezzers, and high damage dealers. Anything that can put a crimp into smooth teaming should be the stalker's first target. -
I've level'd up about ten or so heroes and villains recently and the one I enjoyed perhaps the most was my Arch/MM. Phenomenal AoEs between RoA, Fistful, Psy Scream, Explosive Arrow, and Psy Shockwave.
Drain Psyche combined very well with Force of Nature too.
That said, Robots are going to lulz at your lethal and psy damage. -
I've been leveling up a Mind/Elec and I'm enjoying the great single target damage, I'll definitely need to pick up a patron aoe blast to give it some more aoe damage though.
I asked around a little about control sets before making it and while no one said Ice control was unplayable, they all said that other sets had better control or damage or utility. This was for both Trollers and Doms. -
Quote:they might go the same route they did with pain dom and modify poison to be more "heroic" for defenders.I can see it for Corruptors, but it would need a new tier 9 power. It will never happen for Defenders, as it's considered a "villain only" powerset.
that said, heroic poison MMs and villainous Empathy Defs/Trollers will be a reality in June so the whole concept of excluding poison from heroes and empathy villains seems a little silly. -
Quote:This is all they need.Speed up Placate's recharge, boost defense debuff protection, and figure out a way to lessen the "Redraw Hell".
No additional powers imo (no heals, no tier 9 god modes), just changes to existing powers. Some large (bring back closed i12 beta 20s recharge placate!), some small (grant cloaking device 15% def debuff res), and some challenging (shorten the "Draw from back" animation and allow Venom grenade and Surveillance to be fired from the mace). -
the main reasons these days is to pick it up for the resistance to negative energy damage (though small) and the resistance to endurance draining mobs which you'll see occasionally 1-40 (Freaks, Mu, Cogs) and very frequently from 40-50 (Malta, Carnies, Mu, Freaks).
This End drain Resistance combined with ELA's capped Energy resistance makes Scirocco's Patron arc a joke, just as a tip when selecting patron contacts. -

When was the last proliferation? Issue 13?
[/ QUOTE ]
the only proliferation was i12, unless you count pain dom as a proliferation as an altered version of empathy.
personally, I feel a little "miffed" shall we say, simply because proliferation was advertised pre-i12 as something they could do in between issues if they so desired. -

the ranged mace attacks aside from poisonous ray are terrible. poor damage and scatter about 1/3 of its targets rendering them awkward to use and irritating on teams.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not entirely true. They're a good way to cut downtime while you wait for other attacks to recharge and there's nothing more frustrating than having to chase a runner down, especially if you aggro something else in the process.
As for the scatter, that's a matter of control. It's just like playing an Energy Blaster or anything else that has knockback. Wild use can and will cause problems but skilled employment just might save your life or a teammate's. Knocking a Freakshow Tank Swiper on its a** is a fine way to keep it from hurting you. Using Mace Beam Volley against charging Tsoo can go a long way toward protecting squishes. Plus, it's freakin' hillarious
[/ QUOTE ]
how do 2 second long animations "cut down time"? if you've got time to spare in between attacks slot for recharge, take any other attack, or pick up hasten.
how is a 1/3 chance to kb control? comparing the powers to energy blast, one of the most oft-complained-about sets isn't helping the case imo. Plus, even energy has the option to rely more on single target blasts for more controlled KB. Mace Volley and Blast move 1/3 of the crowd away from the rest, that's not control, that spreading out. The KB isn't necessarily the issue, the aoe nature and the low chance to fire off lead to dividing a group up. Skill and talent can't improve the ratio of foes actually KB'd, it will always get a 1/3 chance to work. -

You DO realize Issue 15 isn't really even meant to be a full blown issue, right? We might get something else that's not on the list, but I doubt we will see anything proliferated or any new sets, unless they've had some secret project tucked away since before I14. It's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath, basicially this is just an issue for them to wave around a big flag that says "Look how long we've been around!"
Also, if you look around the forums at some of the other topics here you should find they've more or less said "Pistols? Demons? What...?" when people asked about them personally. Of coarse there is the standard speculation that they are working on it but not talking about it/admitting to it, but that's all it is, speculation.
You're expecting a full blown issue from something that is meant to just be a quick throw together of stuff that has been in the works for a while, and if people keep this up this might be the last time we see the devs do this. I wouldn't mind more small issues with just a couple things dotted between the bigger ones to keep things fresh over time, but if people start complaining that every issue isn't OMGWTFBBQAWESOMESAUCE we may not see this kind of thing anymore.

i13 was a sub par update and if there's nothing else to i15, it will be sub par as well.
Expecting i15 to add substance isn't irrational considering:
A. i13's non fluff consisted shields and pain dom
B. i14's core feature was nice, but frankly not so great that it can stand entirely by itself imo.
My expectations aren't out of line, I thought i10, i11, and i12 were great. i12 in particular was an issue Positron himself mentioned wouldn't be a "big, impressive issue" and yet I liked that one the best out of the three.
Personally, I think you're expectations are a little low. But you can expect what you want. Trying to dissuade people for having higher, yet entirely reasonable (considering update history) expectations than you is silly. -

QR to the OP:
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
The first announcement of any issue is the one tailored to elicit the "OMG THIS IS SO COOL MUST HAVE NOW!" response. Powerset Proliferation is not the new and shiny, it's the continuation of something already in the game.
Think about i14. How many announcements were made before people knew about the PVP IOs?
[/ QUOTE ]
imo, I think you've got it the wrong way.
powerset proliferation would be the new shiny
a few add-ons to AE and two TFs would be the nice extras.
Proof? people begging for new proliferation since i12, and complaining about issues that don't continue it.
personally, I'd be surprised if proliferation and pistols / demons weren't a part of i15 or at least stretch goals. if they aren't, I seem i16 coming out quickly after i15.
two TFs and some AE changes would be imo even weaker than i13 -
the ranged mace attacks aside from poisonous ray are terrible. poor damage and scatter about 1/3 of its targets rendering them awkward to use and irritating on teams. if you go ranged bane, stick with the rifle attacks.
if you go with the melee crab, make sure to pick up both the pet summons. -
dual pistols, streetfighting, bo staff melee, and electric control seem like the most frequently requested powersets iirc.
this thread's ideas for pistols impressed me the most. the poster even came up with an interesting "trick shot" pistol debuff set. -
imo, a fortunata that does not neglect it's melee, buff, control, and ranged is one of the most well-prepared builds in the game.
I just ITF'd with my fort a little while ago,Cyclops and Minotaur psy res hole is too fun. -

As a PvE dev, fine, but he needs to stay away from the PvP aspect of the game and get someone better suited for the job in there.
[/ QUOTE ]
seems like the harder developers try to "make pvp gud" they fail harder.
has there been any dev who's been singled out as either successfully developing or improving pvp in any MMO? my knowledge of many MMOs, especially their pvp history, is very limited. -

My fondest memories of this game were from the tying of my ego to video game characters. It was an unending boost to my self esteem.

let's be honest.
you kind of deserved it.
unless this is some dude using Hans' account and not Hans himself =P -
1. Fortunata
2. NW/Bane
3. Crab
this should be the tiers unless i14 has swapped the order. -
Gratz on the home purchase and welcome back, Red.

I thought you stopped caring about pve stuff anyways? -
Van, wtf are you doing raising a thread that's 3 years dead from the grave, just to correct a guy about positron?
Also, how come you don't talk on LBx no mo? -

Does dark obliteration suck or is it not necessary with the build? I have a SS/Fire and Went GW, grabbed tents and was planning on grabbing Dark Obliteration next.. is it not worth the slots?
[/ QUOTE ]
Dark Obliteration is the best patron aoe blast out of the brute sets imo. Aoe instead of cone, so you can stay in the action, does negative damage (ie infrequently resisted), and even does a smattering of -tohit.
