Yeah...I'm trying to wipe any connection in my head between that movie & the book, This to me looks more like 2012 meets 28 days later with Zombie swarms.

Still might be worth a watch but it is definetley not a faithful adaptation of the book.

I'm convinced the only way World war Z could be done faithfully is if it were a series centering on the interviewer, and a lot of the action being in flashbacks as the interviewee's tell their stories.

That was what I envisioned an adaptation to be as well. It seems as if they made the intelligence operative that was doing the interviews a lot more Black Ops and a lot less desk jockey. If they can still include the pinnacle scenes from the book I will be happy. What am I saying, I'll be happy if it's well done. I long gave up on my idea of faithful adaptations of books into movies.

I did enjoy the zombies swarming like bugs visuals.

Be well, people of CoH.

I agree. I watched the trailer last night and was put off (I'm not a huge zombie movie lover guy anyways)....just the 'bad' CGI with the whole zombies piling higher and higher and not losing a step....just seemed too unrealistic.

*shrugs* Never read the book (never heard of it ).

Wasn't a fan of the book but this movie looks like "The Mummy" series of cgi-ed baddies.

I think it would have been better off as a mini-series but TV is "The Walking Dead" domain for now.

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

Totally. In my mind's eye the movie plays out like a Keith Morrison story on Dateline where we have reveals about survivors as we go along, with a bit of the style of Contagion for flavor.

Not this travesty.

Seriously, if you've never seen a Keith Morrison report, you should find one. The twists and turns and his smooth storyteller's voice make me want to hire him to read me bedtime stories. Also, he looks like a zombie or Elric. Bonus!

I mean, watch this and tell me it's not 100 times more intriguing than that Brad Pitt trailer: http://youtu.be/zcdtmBM1-_g

...The Brad Pitt one looks more entertaining. Intriguing? The last "Intriguing" movie I paid to see in theaters was Inception.

Reminds me of Starship Troopers but they selected zombies instead of bugs for the final render.

It strikes me that someone couldn't rap their head around how slow zombies can be a menace against I high tech fighting force. I think they forget THEY'RE ZOMBIES! Shooting them in general don't do much, bombing them simply knocks the one not dismembered down for a bit and hitting them with flame throwers simply make them into shambling fire starters.

But no, 28 Days/Months Later, Zombieland, etc. allows film writers and directors to go action movie vs slow building menace or virtually unstoppable army ants angle. Let's drop in a car chase or foot chase sequence to liven things up (no pun intended). Can't do that with massive shambling hoard of zombies but if they swarm like Black Friday shoppers at Walmart going for that $300 60" flat screen oh boy, that's some slick piece of storytelling.

The book was pretty forgettable so I'm not so sure this is really that much of a travesty.

But yeah I always pictured it as shot almost like an expose or documentary.

Yes... it should have been, basically, Ken Burns presents The Great Zombie War.

Perhaps the movie will be shot as a huge flashback being told by Pitt's character to someone in the future as a story about what he did during the "war".

I never read the book so I'm hoping if the movie is half-way decent then I can end up enjoying it on its own even if it does turn out to be some kind of "I Am Legend" rip-off. *shrugs*

It looks like it will be another Starship Troopers. Virtually nothing to do with the book but great fun all the same.
