A quick question.

Hey all. I was wondering if it was possible (or legal) to somehow acquire a sound file of the little boop that plays when you get a /tell? I really, really want it for my phone for when I get a text message. If anyone has the file or knows how to get it, I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance.

That would be fun. I always wanted my laptop to power on with the mech startup sound from Mechwarrior 3.

should be possible and most likely legal under fair use laws in the USA. If you try to sell it or use it in something commercial, it would certainly be illegal. If you are worried, consult a lawyer.

If you're going to go for it, can someone get me the ding that plays when you AFK for too long?

If not... I'm gonna miss it.

I've heard many CoH sound effects in other media so no doubt they all use cheap or free sound libraries.

You can get that sound and more in the CoH Fansite Kit.

Is the music that plays during the log-in screen available anywhere?

Mel, Most of the music in CoH is available here for download, even the stuff that was changed or not used

Thanks for the link to: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Music
That's AWESOME!!!

Is the Paragon Wiki expected to last beyond 11/30/12? (Sorry to bring it up, but is there a likely time limit on this wiki?)

They are ogg files, so you will need a player that can play them, or a program that can convert them to mp3s. (I use the Media Player Classic. It also plays movies, gifs, etc.)

Paragon Wiki has no ties to NCSoft or Paragon Studios, other than effectively 'chatting' about the game. It will be there as long as the people involved want it to be. Which is quite a bit beyond the sunset date.

August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!

So, I've got the file, but all of the sites I've been trying to upload it to seem not to like the file. I'll keep y'all posted, though. :P

They're OGG files; most sites will probably only take WAV or MP3. You'll need to open it with a sound editor and save it in a different format. I've heard good things about Audacity which is free and open source, but I haven't personally used it.

I managed to get it converted to an MP3, and even managed to bypass the need of a site to transfer it to my phone by realizing I can just email the file to my phone as an attachment.

The only problem? ...It's too quiet! xD
I tried making it louder in audacity, but I couldn't figure out a way to do it well without ruining the sound itself. So if I can't figure that out, I'll just hang onto the sound file for another day.

My thanks to the ever-gracious and noble Healix and others that solved my problem for me.

I already had Audacity, which will convert the files into mp3 format, so all was well there.

I do not know the origin of the current log-in screen music, but I really like it and am glad it will survive The End of Time.

Oh Mel, thank you for such kind words I always love to be able to share info and help when I can. I recorded the music from the login screen with a free program called FreeSoundRecorder. . It's pretty basic but works wonderfully, and can capture any sound on your pc.
