I showed him some of the articles that have been published already, from Game & Guide and Addicting Info.

His response was,

"So that's two articles from one site I've barely even heard of, and one I've never heard of. Where is Kotaku? Where is The Verge? Where is Ars Technica? FFS, where's Slashdot, even?"

If anybody knows how to get ahold of (or post articles to) Kokatu, The Verge, Ars Technica, or Slashdot, they oughta try.
I think whoever you are talking to is an idiot. I read it on slashdot the day of the announcement on the forums and the CoH website

August 31, 2012. The day of the announcement. Here is your slashdot article about the closure and they mention the petition.

Mild mannered reporter just dropped his CoH is closing article

I sent an E-mail linking the various efforts to save the game, the CoH titan forums, and the "Paragon managment is in discussion with NCsoft" bit.

I invited him to get in contact with you, Tony, and others trying to keep the game alive, as we may find dire need of his position and skills.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's spent some time with Google looking for the phrase "City Of Heroes Closing", but I found a number of links to various gaming sites that mentioned it. Some of them though didn't have any follow up from Friday about efforts to save the game.

If I were you guys (and I - meaning you - hadn't thought of it already), I'd Google up such sites and send them the press release about our efforts, "Just thought you might want more info..."

Another thought I had is how other games' forums have threads about the news and some of their reactions - might make for more good fodder in the press release, something like "other gamers expressing displeasure" or something.

I wish there was more I could add to the efforts, I feel like a level 5 hero showing up just as the 50 swoops in and takes out that purse-snatcher. I've written my letters, send the emails, signed the petitions (and got my non-gaming family to as well!) and made the little image below my post here, but it doesn't feel like enough... but my time is limited and I don't appear to have any needed skills atm, so I thought I'd toss out these ideas in case no one else has had them yet. :P

Also, FYI, I'm in the process of sending out our first blast of press releases to media contacts, so keep an eye out. I'm hoping that we get a news cycle or two out of it, and then we'll send out more that focus on in-depth on certain aspects of our community to regenerate more attention.

Remember, whenever you see these articles, post them here if someone else hasn't already, write a comment in the comments section, "Like" on Facebook, "retweet" on Twitter, let your friends know that the articles are there. We really need to spread the word about these press reports, because it's critically important that the press be on our side, and the more eyeballs we can give them, the more attention they will pay to our campaign. That directly results in NCsoft being more willing to work with us to keep City of Heroes alive.

Thanks a ton yet again, everything is going really well!

Tonight after watching some TV i realized that there was an excellent opportunity for some possible TV coverage

this sunday august 9th adult swim is airing the Robot Chicken DC comics special

i figured whats the best way to get noticed than promote the save coh campaign (video game about comics) in some of their [bumps] while they are airing a comic book special

so i have submitted an email response and i have some other listed links in my post on the titan forums

OH wow I forgot about television. Actually...if ANYTHING about CoH got into AS, I'd be super, super happy. I love [AS] and sometimes they can actually take to issues/projects really, really well.

I drew this for my friend Ninja Earl. I aspire to be a concept artist.

Hey all, couple of notes. First, we have another article in OnRPG, the "Gamers Rally" article I added to the top post of this thread. It even has a link to our Unity Rally coming up on Saturday. We have a friend at OnRPG!

Second, keep your eye out for more, because tonight I sent out a blast of press releases to a ton of gaming, comic book, and tech news sites. We're also bending every ear we can when it comes to bloggers. Tomorrow I'm going to start reaching out to noted personalities we've been collecting from your excellent suggestions.

Thanks again for all of your support. I'm absolutely certain that we have NCsoft's attention, and that's a very, very good thing.

I'm going to crash, I've been up WAY too many hours, but I'll be checking in tomorrow morning as soon as I wrap up some stuff for my day job.

KEEP SPREADING THE WORD!

Okay, I have to sheepishly admit that Ten Ton Hammer was just the first site I saw after very briefly checking in this morning. (While on a conference call for my day job, in fact.) Someone forwarded me a long list of blog and news sites that we've hit. I'll post the updates a little later, but...

Mind. Blown.

I've been wondering if we shouldn't all be google-searching the hell out of this and get it trending on Google. I know quite a few people who go through the trending list to check out what's going on in the world!

I've got two VERY high priority fish to fry, and then I'm going to make a pass at updating this. I have a list right now of over 40 blogs and news sites that are carrying stories about our efforts. But I'm going to update this post ASAHP, because of two reasons: 1) In discussions, it is an extremely handy reference to show what incredible traction we're getting, and 2) I've reached out to some contacts at NCsoft who I believe will probably be keeping a close eye on how far the coverage goes.

Anyway, less posting, more working, I'll be back a little later!
