How to make money
Tickets -> IO's is the fastest way I've seen to make inf on a single toon short of flipping purples. If you have a lot of characters with a moderate amount of inf, you can put in dozens of lowball bids on things that move fast (ATO's, popular IO's) and wait for them to fill. Pick up ATO's cheap, repost them for about 10mil apiece more than you payed, profit. It should only take a few hundred mil to IO out a build if you avoid the pricier sets.
See Organica's Zero to Awesome Redeux! 31 Day Project. She didn't say the final tally, I don't think, but the screen cap show 1.1 billion liquid, plus I'd say a ton more tied up in inventory. Nice and easy, without a lot of hard work.

I'm assuming you are rolling bronze 10-14 for your tickets by your comment about steadfast +def. I find bronze 35-39 another good range. Silver rolls can be good too. The nice thing about bronze 35-39 is that there are quite a few decent common sets (Red Fortune, Crushing Impact, Thunderstrike, Doctored Wounds, Titanium Coating) in there that you can turn a small profit on and sell relatively fast. The other thing to consider about 35-39 bronze and silver is that if your character is not yet IOed, you'll get suitable recipes you can slot yourself to tide you over until you can get purples or whatever. You'll have a shot at reactives and oblits and kinetic combats, etc.
If your goal is to get *billions* of influence fast, I don't think farming alone will get you there. You'll need to figure out how to use the market to make that much money in a short timeframe.

Thank you for this. I feel much more productive getting a hand full of kinetics, reactive armor, aegis, etc. that I can then send out to a bunch of my toons.
So much better then rolling 10-14 and feeling like I wasted my time when I get no steadfasts.
You asking this is hilarious Mike. Considering you were just telling another guy off for posting about a bug, that could be farmed. And here you are..asking how to make easy money. So that if someone DID post a super grand scheme..the devs could see it..and you know..stop it. The very way that they could for what you were complaining about. Great stuff!

I've made over 10 billion over the past three months just through casual flipping across three alts. Its a nice and profitable side game, if you're more aggressive you could definitely make more faster.
convert to expensive purples (anything that does do damage).
sell expensive purples.
I've abandoned all of my other various schemes over the past couple of weeks because this 'trick' generates BY FAR the largest profit with the least effort of any marketeering I've ever done.

There's also the fact that, long term vets already start out with a power that can "twink" their ultra-low level earnings.
Inner Inspiration.
A level 1 character can produce inspirations that sell for tens and hundreds of thousands of Inf. Every 30 minutes.
So acquiring "seed capital" is about as tough as breathing.
Hell, breathing might be tougher.
Once you're past the first couple million, it's all gravy.

The startup cash to make good returns + getting converters. Running endless tips to reinforce alightments + running that stupid little arc 4-5 times a day.
It's not nearly as simple as stated above. Works in the short-term, but making it longterm is a pain.
You aren't working that niche, it works you.
I've moved over to just flipping, less profit, but much less work.

Can't argue that direct flipping is the simplest way to make influence, especially if you're doing it with several different marketing toons. Put in bids, come back days later, list what you've bought for a good sell price, come back days later, you have money!

This niche is a huge pain.

It's still, admittedly, a decent amount of work now that I've burned through most of the huge surplus I had to buy converters with.
I'm currently using ~11B on my bids for this. Which is a lot, but not really "that much".
Edit: side note, having extra enhancement trays/salvage/recipe/market slots is basically mandatory for this to save time. Literally all my bids are off one character, who also is almost always bidding on a ton of 10-stacks of salvage to fuel crafting them.
merits are comically easy to get these days.
convert them to alignment merits, buy converters, profit.
The Goat is sitting on 8 Amerits right now and hasn't run a tip mission since before my hiatus.
the only alignment missions I've "ground" lately were to reinforce an alignment so I could score a bunch of easy A merits running the SSAs.
Startup costs aren't a big deal either- anyone can scrape together 150m pretty quickly*, and once you've made your first 300m sale you're off and running.
I have to be careful claiming inf on my 'bidder' because the inf cap is a real danger to profits of this magnitude, but that's a small price to pay for basically unlimited wealth.
* if all else fails, buy stacks of off-brand Large inspirations for 20k or so, combine to make large Purples and sell those for 4-500k each. May take a few days, but it's foolproof.

"Claim all" is nasty. Avoid like the plague.
iTrials, where I use the ingredients to craft new powers, but use all the A-merits and E-merits on converters
|
This is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure I know which bidder you are Plasma, and you're a lot more conservative than I am. I cut my profits by anywhere from 40%-50% to get around 3x as many a day.
I've mostly stopped it, but I was burning through 200 converters a day several times.
I somewhat mentioned it above, but the size of it grows really fast and I can't make 200 converters per day. That's what I mean when I say it's a pain. I'm getting a ton of purples and have no converters because I spent the 200 I collected yesterday, which was 2 hours of SSA1-1.

Lastly, running a daily billion-earning operation from just flipping takes much less work and doesn't run you as hard as converting purples. The limiting reactant is -always- converters, where as the only thing stopping me from flipping is my market space (nearly unlimited with enough characters), and it doesn't take as much work.
I'm all for marketeering, and it's some of the most fun I've had in the game, but converters and purples starts to seem like a real job.
I have roughly 40 purple recipes on my bidder right now, but I can't bring myself to run SSA1-1 for 2 hours straight (40 recipes at 2.2 on average is ~90 converters or 9 characters), then go through the work of crafting, emailing, converting, checking for old prices I've recorded etc etc.
Or I could put up lowball bids on popular things, craft and list.
My average time for SSA1-1 was around 7 minutes, once I learned to pack 20 reds for the big fights. With loadings and character switching + trading HAM/VAM merits, it would be 10 minutes for each one, which would be 10 characters. That's 1h40m to get the necessary converters.
That's all I meant by what I said.

I suppose that's true, what I meant was the startup to run a huge operation is a lot. My startup was 8 billion, and that let me to create enough that was worthwhile. I never thought of doing it on a small scale, but that could work too. |
I have one character handling bids and one selling and that generates far more inf than I need. I'll keep doing it as long as it lasts because it's just so easy, with the excess profits eventually going to feed the Crazy 88's INFcinerator.

While I don't doubt anyone who cared to could make a billion+ a day flipping stuff, that's waaaaay too much like work for me. =P

There was a time when I trimmed WAY back - I was only plucking like 2-5 a day, but since I was making ~150-200m on each, that was fine by me. I do some non-purple things that make me ~3B a week or so too.
To be fair, I do some SSAs purely for merits, but the itrial stuff I just do for fun and to finish building out my 50s, so using the a/emerits on converters is just a bonus.
yep you're both doing a much higher volume than I am, and I bet I also know which bids are Plasmas... =P

So going from playing fully IO'd toons to playing some that have a couple IO's or none is lame. I have a couple new 50's and while I like the background/look/feel of the characters I dont like not having defenses or recharge.
So whats the most effient way to make inf?
Done ticket farming. I can say when I burn through three thousand something tickets and get no steadfast 3% defense globals or any rectified recticles but a ton of air bursts is annoying.
Using converters is a hassle cause there isnt a simple way to get them. Cant run ITrials alone in the middle of the night, and A merits is either once every other day or once a week.
Are there other good options? Cause I'm becoming frustrated. Only plus side I see is that IO's are much cheaper now then they once were.
