A Question for the DFB Junkies. :)

Do ya'll who mostly do DFB no matter your level put six slots in things like brawl because it's useful in there?

Posted

Well, after all, you've got an awful lot of slots to use, and only a handful of powers that you'll ever need...

Procs don't care about the enhancement level right? Only whether or not you have access to that power?

So couldn't you turn your low level attacks into buzzsaws?

Actually no, procs only work if you are 3 levels less than them or higher.

I believe purple recipes retain set bonuses no matter what level, but not sure of the procs.

Procs always work, regardless of how low you exemplar down. You might be thinking of global bonuses.

And yes, given the extreme gutting enhancements get when you exemplar down that far, slotting a bunch of procs (and purple/ATO sets, since they keep their set bonuses) would be optimal. That's exactly what the CEBR builds did, IIRC.

...as long as you have access to the power the proc is slotted in.

This reminds me when I had a special build way back when to solo/dou a Posi Tf on my Fire/energy blaster. This was about the time reward merits came into play, pre 5 levels when exemplared down, and pre non-power pool fitness.

I had all my level 15 and lower powers franken-slotted to max out at that level, and had powers like hasten overslotted. It made a posi fly bye in no time.

Now you've got me curious to make a special DfB build character...

And I think I WOULD six slot brawl with procs. Why not?

In-game? No. But you can always ask in the help channel. People are usually willing to help you understand all of the various acronyms. Or we can just tell you here. There used to be an acronym guide on the forums, just don't know how up-to-date it is.

The wiki has a pretty long list of commonly used game terms, and what they mean.

Hm, guess that list is a bit out of date.

DFB = Death From Below
DIB = Drowning In Blood

Both are low-level trials formed through the TUT, accessed via the LFG menu on your chat box.

Ah, okay, so these are names of trials that people are spamming in the message channels. I kept hearing them over and over again, and I never could figure out what they meant. It's kind of like a hidden jargon that everyone expects everyone to know, but unfortunately I wandered around clueless (a normal state of mind for me).

In general, trials, task/strike forces, and other group content are referred to by their initials. So you can check your LFG tab to see if anything there matches before you get too confused.

Me? I don't care if people do dfb. Sorta related I guess, but I do not like getting random group requests in Atlas though.

I'm asking because I'm curious if people make special builds for it. I have seen a group on my server (months back) advertise they were a Professional Sewer Team.

Unfortunately, not everything in there helps. For example:

ITF = Imperius Task Force, but the proper name for that is "Time's Arrow", and it is listed under LFG as "Time's Arrow [Imperious]"

While others, like Lady Grey Task Force (LGTF) and Lord Recluse Strike Force (LRSF) are actually the names of the tasks.

And then there's the STF (Statesman's Task Force), which is no longer given out by Statesman, but rather his granddaughter, Ms. Liberty. I've often seen it called the MLTF since the change - but LFG still lists it as "Statesman Task Force".

Just keep playing the game, and if you see someone using a term you don't know, ask. Sometimes, nobody will answer. Rarely (if ever) will anyone mock you for not knowing. And as you play longer, you'll learn more and more of the terms, until you can throw them out in conversations with abandon.

Until someone asks you to meet them in SC. :P

Really? Does that work with LOTG: Rech and things like Miracle Uniques?

Bloob is the goo that Shivans use to animate the skeletons, rocks, and debris that they make their bodies out of. Duh.

No to the LotG. That isn't a proc, and it functions like a set bonus. The same is true for any other "always on" special bonus from an enhancement.

Yes to the Miracle. Anything that takes effect when the power is used functions like a proc, and will trigger any time the power is activated, even if exemplared well below the level of the enhancement. That's why so many people recommend slotting Miracle and Numina uniques in Health - since Health unlocks at level 2, you can never exemplar too low level to keep it.

If I liked the DfB enough to run it all the time, you can bet, I'd have a special build for it. Not sure if I'd six slot Brawl or not, but I'd consider it.

So use the existing ingame tools the devs added to block blind invites.

Either set your Search flag to red which blocks invites, or type in /hide and select 1. Hide and block all Invite Options.

Whenyou are ready to join a team you can reset your flag or unselect /hide.
